When we are first introduced to Alloran near the end. I don't know why I hadn't given any consideration to the individual that was being controlled previously. So powerful

That book just about killed me. I got it for my 10th birthday, and was thinking of moving on to another series, but it was so hilarious!

Ax's inability to kill Alloran was so frustrating now, but at the time it made sense. Ax was the human equivalent of 13, you just don't make decisions like that.

Seriously I have never eaten a Cinnabon. Which is tragic in the extreme. They just don't exist in any part of the country I have lived. But I may make a scene. Eeen. Scuh. Eeen. For Bunnnn

Book 8 was the first Animorphs book I read. Needless to say, it hooked me in. It's too bad Ax didn't keep making those diary entries later on.

Why wasn't Ax begging Alloran to <Please morph something small so that I can carry you to safety>?

If he didn't have the strength to lift his tail and kill himself, he certainly couldn't morph. Also ignore the fact that Jake morphed while snake venom coursed through his veins in book 11.

Yeah, for some reason #8's so nostalgic for me.  I was reading the series since #1 in 1996 through the Scholastic book club thing, but #8 really sticks in my mind for nostalgia stuff.  Just remember smiling while reading it at 11/12 or whatever I was.

Does Ax KNOW that an Andalite who can't lift his tail is too weak to morph?

In any case, I see no harm in trying.  Perhaps Ax's encouragement could have given Alloran enough will power to do the morph.  I have seen Animorphs encouraging injured Animorphs to demorph to repair severe injuries.

Book 18: An Andalite loses his tail.  Why isn't Ax screaming at him to morph and demorph to restore his tail?

Book 20: The Discovery: Ax demorphs after being bitten by a cobra.

I have seen Animorphs demorph after been sprayed by insecticide.

This thread is not a debate thread about the illogicality of morphing

This was the first book I read in the series. When Ax described Jake's tiger morph as like molten steel, I thought he had actually morphed into molten steel. Can you imagine if Jake was able to go Terminator 2 on his enemies? This was a hilarious, light hearted book, for the most part. Unfortunately it was just a break between much darker books.

I have seen Animorphs demorph while missing significant chunks of their bodies.  Rachael once demorphed while cut it two!  In fact, both pieces of her starfish demorphed!

I figure that a thread titled "Book 8" is kosher for discussing any issue related to Book 8, such as Ax forgetting to urge Alloran to morph into something small so that Ax and carry him to safety.

Sort of. Let's just make this a general discussion thread and pretend that 2014!me is a different user or didn't exist. Deal?

During this book, at least three Controllers go nuts as their Yeerks starve to death.  If only the Animorphs could have arranged to scoop some of them away to safety.
