Title: CAD Art, Etc.
Post by: Sovereign on May 13, 2013, 08:56:28 PM
I dabble in CAD, strictly as a hobby.  I've done many other pieces (original and inspired)--won't link to them lest I be accused of advertising or self-promotion.

That said, here's an extremely basic start to a Dome Ship.

Looks really neat, but I want to know what CAD art is. Looks like computer generated clay.

Whoops.  Jargon alert  8)

CAD: Computer-aided design

In this case, I used Rhinoceros 5 (compare 3ds max, maya, blender) with stock renderer (different renderers offer varying lighting features).  No textures (image files used like paint) applied.

I'll eventually add more details, but 3D art is frustrating.  Sometimes I'll open the program, stare at the file, then close it having changed nothing.  Or undo a bunch of work, then re-do something else.  Only to revert back to the first a week later...
