Title: Hello.
Post by: Aphrodite on January 10, 2013, 07:13:34 PM
Hello everyone. My name is Aphrodite. Of course, that's not my real name. I won't tell you my real name, because there are aliens out there who want to capture me and make me do things I don't want to do.

I guess I always identified with Rachel, growing up. Everyone looks at me and thinks, "Oh hey, an airhead model. I wonder if she's as dumb as she looks," when really, I was an honors student who probably knows more about the intricate workings of the universe- and how to construct language- than most who would assume such awful things about me.

There is also a great, raging beast inside of me that wants to rip everything to shreds. I don't take gymnastics, but I do take movement, yoga, stage combat, and that sort of thing. My chief totem is also a bear.

There's also the matter of fighting an intergalactic war against soul-stealing aliens. But shhhh. Most people shouldn't know about that. I mean, that's crazy, right?

In all seriousness, this is true- in one way or another. But I've changed a few details here and there. I'm not actually dealing with any physical slugs that crawl into brains or anything. More like, "Oh. This energy wants to take me over. It's not really me. It's just my ego. Well, buck up, Aphrodite, you can't let evil win. The whole universe is rooting for you, so, even though you're afraid, you have to keep going. That's the way things are."

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened to Rachel if she hadn't had actual slugs to fight actual physical battles against. Sometimes I wonder if I am that result in a parallel universe. If there are numerous such results. Sometimes I wish I could have had my mission call to me as early as hers did. I guess I'll just have to take mine as it comes in my mid-twenties, as a jaded adult.

I've been lurking on these forums for a long time. I recently decided to do another reread of the Animorphs series, which you'd so kindly uploaded. Today I was about to start in on #15, but when I clicked to read, the usual website now only takes me to the forums. It says:

I figured, okay, cool. I should register. I love this series. Maybe I'll find an interesting conversation or two. So I did. And I tried again to read #15.

It logged me out.  :XD:  So I guess there's bugs or updates or who knows what. So... no reading. But I thought I'd say hi. What's up?

That is a bit strange ... you could always PM our admins about it.

Welcome aboard. Now there is a face to a lurker.

Yeah, or post it in the bugs forum or something. I still haven't finished reading all the rules and acquainting myself with proper etiquette.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Hello, and welcome to the forum!  I'm DinosaurNothlit, also known as DN or Dino for short.

I think it's totally cool that you're that similar to Rachel.  Rachel was definitely one of the more awesome characters in the series, no doubt.  So, then, what must that say about you?  ;)

By the way, if you're talking about the ebooks . . . yeah, those don't actually exist on this site anymore.  Sorry.  Scholastic made us take them down.

Oh wow! They worked until today, for me.

I guess I'll have to go back to those old, primitive, yet ingenious, computer files known as... books! *searches in old boxes*

There is proper etiquette on this site? Since when?

I am curious. Humans seem to have strange rules about clothing. And what mouth-sounds are appropriate to say, when. I do not wish to offend.

Asmo of all people just said that

Sorry, but what do humans' rules about clothing and mouth-sounds have to do with anything?   Have you seen any humans around here?

If you do see any, though, please let us know.  We like to keep tabs on them, lest their numbers get out of hand.  ;)

I may be the only human here, but I am without clothes probably 80% of the time. Just gets too hot here where I live to worry about doing an extra chore. (Laundry.)

Yes. Although I find clothing styles attractive, life is generally easier without bothering with it too much.

Welcome to the forum Aphrodite, cool name (I always enjoyed Greek mythology). Apologies about the ebooks no longer being available, Scholastic forced us to remove them unfortunately. Luckily many of us still have primitive pre-digital copies of the series (I prefer to do my reading old school when possible).

Anyway, enjoy your time here and hopefully you'll stick around despite the general insanity of our members. :)

No kidding. Especially in the winter months. Takes five to ten minutes to become fully dressed.
