Evidently, Mediafire does not support hotlinking. I will try to resolve this later.
Also note that more images can be found in my mediafire account.
Hello all,
I like to collect things. This leads me on grand quest across the entire internet to spend large amounts of money on relatively worthless things.
My latest conquest?
Animorphs re-release special editions. This includes the elusive uncorrected proofs, as well as a previously unknown give-away.
I also have some images of rather hard to find spanish editions of animorphs.
First, the uncorrected proof of the first re-release.

I'd never actually heard about the re-release (and subsequent termination) of the series until recently, so these covers are a bit shocking to someone who prefers the originals. And WHY is Rachel brunette? Or is that just a hologram cat illusion?
Oh and another thing I noticed - #5: The Predator: Marco morphs to lobster on the cover? On the edition I have, he morphs to gorilla! So was it a different morph for the Spanish version?
-
Good job... How long did this take?
-
Is anyone else impressed that they actually got mobile tags out? (See last image of book 2-- You can scan it right from your screen and it will take you to the K.A video where she introduces the relaunch (http://teacher.scholastic.com/products/tradebooks/videocenter/index.htm?bcpid=326025746001&bclid=309079992001&bctid=649579031001)). I knew it was on Scholastic's marketing agenda, but I never actually saw these mobile tags in any of the books until now. I wonder if they ever went ahead with those in-theater promotions too....

yeah, it was that way for the british version of #5 as well. i wonder if there were any other covers changed?
-
#5 in French also had the lobster. As far as I know none of the other French ones had different covers.
I've seen some of the Japanese covers, though, and they're quite different. It's the same idea as the original covers, but seem to be by a different artist.
-
Is it possible to put them up?
-
I don't have any myself, but here's a picture I found of them: (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsb4wnHbUf1qbdrgeo1_500.jpg)

They had Jake morph dog on book 1, which I think would get more kids to buy it because it is more cool looking. I like the art style on these because it looks like it took a paintbrush, but again I think more kids would buy a cover like the American version.

That video gave me so many feels its unreal. It's such a shame how miserably the relaunch failed :(
Also I'm from the UK and I had the horrible lobster #5 Marco cover as well. Why Scholastic thought the EU would prefer a lame lobster instead of a gorilla I don't know.

See, I disagree, because the majority of hair-raising and intense action in that book DID take place when Marco was in lobster morph. Considering the fact that (I think) he didn't use Gorilla morph until close to the end of the book, lobster fits.
