Well I don't know if this topic has been discussed or not, I can't seem to find one. I'm wondering if anyone likes the new Animorph book covers? I like the old book covers instead, don't know why they decided to change it. Anyone else agree or like the new covers instead?

I think they're kind of equal in my mind. I'll save a more definitive judgement for when 8 comes out. (Which I've been waiting for...forever...)
-
I'm basing my judgement on the covers I've seen, but, yes, I prefer the older covers. But that could be because I was around when the old covers came out, and they are far more familiar to me.
-
I prefer the old covers, but they do feel a bit outdated, mostly because of the clothing of the characters being very 90s. The new ones are more timeless, which is half the point of the re-release.
-
I think the only thing I dont' like about the new books in general is that there's no flip book animation in the lower right corner of the pages. I always loved that bit in all of the books.

I agree with that, Nate. It always gave the Animorphs series a certain uniqueness, as I know of no other book which does that.
-
A not-lame Ax would go a long way for the new covers.

My younger brother loved it too. The Chronicles minus Ellemist had their own unique flip as well if I recall.

Maybe a model that's closer to the description of Ax's human morph would be nice. There's so much we can do with photoshop now that I don't see why that should be an issue.

Ellimist had a flip too, him dissolving into a wisp of air...or something
Definitely need a not lame Andalite Ax. Tail that might be able to get over his head
The new covers are nice pieces of art tech, but I don't like that so far it's only the heads
And I hate the new models. All of them. Boo. Marco looks like the situation crossed with a leprechaun. Non of them look close to right

Yeah, I liked the old ones better

The only thing I like about the new covers and cover models is that Cassie actually looks like a girl. I know she's a tomboy and all but she looks pretty ambiguous in some of her covers.
-
i really like the new covers. i prefer the old ones because they are originals
-
I don't like the new covers. Although Jake's new model is a closer fit to what I imagined the character to look like. Rachel's is way too generic (her model for the old covers was perfect IMO, except 48, which inexplicably looked like she'd de-aged by 5 years...)

Yeah, Cassie's covers were extremely hit and miss. I wonder if they used several different models for her or something...she either looked really beautiful (#4, #29, #50) or borderline boyish (#14, #24, #34).
-
lulz, I think Cassie is the only one who had the same model for the full run.
I don't know where that's sourced, but it's come up before
-
Yes. Cassie is the only Animorph to have the same model for the whole series.
-
Wow I must be blind, thanks for the info! Perhaps it was the way they styled Cassie's model that made her look so unfeminine on some of the covers, she's quite pretty on a few of them...
