I was also thinking of The Reaction but a different question had popped into my mind. If it's an allergy, would that cause a problem if an allergic person morphed a cat or dog? Or no, since it's the dander and other things that trigger reactions rather than DNA.

Ax says that when you acquire an animal, it's DNA is stored in you in some kind of cryogenic voodoo {tech} {tech} {magic} {tech}. Allergies to dander etc., on the other hand, are allergies to proteins, apparently, which are completely chemically different from DNA.
