Title: Warning! Newbie Approaching! (Me, in another words.)
Post by: Cloak on August 19, 2008, 10:27:10 PM
Hello.  I'm . . . a figure in a cloak.

I'm also an Animorphs fan that constantly rereads the books (Harry Potter, as well).  My family (which consists of my mother, aunt, elder sister, and niece at this point) all think I'm a little wierd for doing that.  I also like to research animals (particularly the big cats, including my favorite - Panthera tigris altaica, or the Siberian/Amur tiger) and find mythology intriquing.  I also tend to play Super Smash Bros. Melee with my niece.

I'm also an aspiring writer (the book I'm working on now is about 250 pages, but it's in three parts).  This tends to take up a deal of my time.  I also have an adamate and perservering dislike of Laura Mallory (all Harry Potter fans probably know of her), as well as the current President (G. W. Bush, at time of writing).

I have recentally become a fan of most (but not all) of Wierd Al Yanchovic's songs.  Though "Virus Alert", "You Don't Love Me Anymore", "Jurassic Park" and "Polkamon" are some of my favorites.  I have two sisters (elder one which is a good person, and the younger one is a manipulative shrew and . . . well, just selfishly evil).

It's been a while since I posted in any forms . . . I was still in high school ('bout three or four years ago) when I did, and I met some rather hostile people.  But I decided that it should be okay for me to start again.  That's about all about me that I'm willing to share, and thanks for the hospitality I've been shown thusforth (which I'm not even sure is a word, perhaps I invented it).

Wierd Al rocks!  Bob!  Amish Paradise! Genius in France! "Dumber than a box of hair."  You just can't write that stuff!  Or then again, I suppose you can...

*cough* but that aside...welcome to the forum!  I just started relatively recently and haven't had any problems.  Everyone here is pretty awesome.

And as to being wierd...well...norm al is boring anyway.

And there's nothing wrong with mythology...especia lly for a writer.

I re-read my books all the time, I love animals (especially Tigers), I have an interest in mythology, Smash Bros is a great game, I like some Weird Al and I am also an aspiring writer!  :)

Welcome to RAF! The people here are (for the most part) great people so I doubt you'll have trouble. Let one of the staff know if you do.

And I think thusforth is supposed to be two words...

Try henceforth. You'll get fewer funny looks.  ;)
Or more, if you're going for that.

Welcome to RAF, oh figure-in-a-domino. I'm Este, and it is a pleasure to meet you. :D

Actually, yeah, morfowt.  I would.  But, sadly, I do not have a microphone or anything to record my voice (other than a tape recorder, and I don't really see how that'll help you guys).

I would have like the Ellimist, but, seeing as I am unable . . .

By the way, thanks to the eBooks here, I finally managed to finish reading the series.  Though I have to admit, it was bittersweet when I came to the last book I had to read (Ellimist Cronicles (I know I misspelled that . . .)).

Welcome CloakFig!!!
Don't worry, I think everybody here have many people around them who think they're weird... My friends also think I'm weird... and dangerous ^_^'
Who is Laura Mallory??
Good luck for your novel ^_^ I'd read them... if I'm not too lazy... I'm sometimes tired to read in English ^_^' (even if I come and read and write here everydays hahaha!)

Laura Mallory is a Georgian (US state of Georgia) woman who's trying to ban Harry Potter in schools, even though she hasn't really read any of them.  For the sole reason that they have the words "witchcraft", "witch", and "magic".  She says that children cannot distinguish the difference between reality and fantasy . . . she really underestimates kids.  My neice watched the movies (when she was too young to read) or had me read 'em to her, and she could tell the difference.  It's just ludicrous.

And it's only my family that thinks I'm weird for rereading books . . . apparently I have a habit of being too serious, as my mother occasionally points out to me.  But that's because of my high school hardening me.  I used to be the much-picked on kid . . . until my senior year, really.

As for my novel, I think I might have got a bit carried away writing it.  After all, I based it on a very vivid dream I had when I was 12 or 13, which I drastically reformulated it from there. . . . And that's where I tend to draw ideas, my dreams.

Hey Cloaky, welcome!  I love Weird Al, got to see him in concert last year and he just kicks all kinds of @ss.

Dude, like half of us on here (myself included) are in their 20s and still rereading/obsessing over/can't-stop-ranting-about Animorphs, so don't feel bad ^__^

Also mythology and animals, man.  Those silly Egyptians...

"Cloaky" . . . I'm sorry, but that's making chuckle.  It sounds like you've turned me into a Pokemon!  ;D

I also have a tenacity of using the creatures from mythology in my writing (similarly how JK Rowling did, only she's several hundred tiers above me).  Though I'm afriad I'm not too terribly knowledgeable of Egyptian mythology, it's the Greek/Roman mythology that I'm really familiar with.

I'm also using the things from astrology and the Chinese Zodiac . . . (probably not what you'd expect, or maybe it will)

And I'm glad I'm not the only one here in their 20's.  (My Chinese Zodiac is the Rat . . . with the element of Wood, accordin' to Wikipedia.)

my chinese zodiac is the dog, don't know my element though.

Yep, put me down for in my 20s too.  I have actually rekindled my love of animorphs only recently though when I friend of mine saw the books in my basement and insisted on finishing the series...

Chinese zodiac: Tiger  ;D

Chinese zodiac: Tiger  ;D

. . . Lucky. :'(

I get saddled with a rat and scorpion (Scorpio).  It's not fair!  Why couldn't I be a Leo and a Tiger? . . . But that would make me a liger, tigon, li-liger, ti-liger, li-tigon, or ti-tigon (alright, I know.  I've been spending far too much time at wikipedia).

Thanks for the explanation, CloakFig. Of course I can't know her, I'm not really insterrested by politics, and I'm not American lol

I'm scorpion and rat of wood ^_^ Even one of my teacher told me "scorpions are dangerous" when I told him ^_^'
And I'm 23, and not the oldest here! So don't worry ^_^

Sorry, I just noticed.  My error. :-[

But I naturally assumed that there are idiots like Laura Mallory in every country (though I'm probably unaware of them).

Oh, I'm sure there are.  They just go by different names!  Go figure

Both water-loving animals (although for separate reasons . . .) ;)

I suppose that makes you a shishu (something spelt like that), a Japanese mythological creature that's a basically a dog with leonine features.

You can go to wikipedia, look up Chinese Zodiac, and look up Tiger (or type in "Tiger (zodiac)").  It should give you a list of dates along with elements.  To be honest, I really don't put much stock by zodiac, but I do find it interesting the differences person-to-person.

Honestly, most of the attributes of tiger and pisces fit me pretty well...but of course they're a bit vague so it's not exactly surprising...

My element appears to be fire...cool.

Fire, eh, wotw2112?  Fire burns wood . . . you're element is superior to mine!  And fire is inferior to water, but I don't remember what my element is superior then . . . it's supposed to be some sort of cycle.

Wood?  Superior to...i don't know, how about the back of some guy's head?  Or small crushable insects?

But seriously: maybe earth (grows out of)?  Or I could see water too possibly (absorbs/floats).  Metal wouldn't make much sense...

Looked it up.

Metal is actually superior because of something about an axe felling the largest tree.  Wood is actually superior to earth because it's roots hold the earth together.

Yeah, and, unless I'm mistaken, fire is inferior to water, yet superior to the metal element.
