Stupid I know, but if you think about the rest of the group was P.C. You have Cassie who is Black, Marco who is described as Brown, Rachel is half jewish. Tobias and Jake are just white. Shouldn't tobias have been asian to even things out.
-
Marco is Hispanic, and Jake is Jewish.
You can't have a member of every race, without having a bunch of different members of the group.
I'm not sure if Rachel is full Jewish, or half Caucasian.
-
Rachel's dad is Jewish. I don't think her mom is, and I don't think either of her parents are particularly religious in any way.
Jakes family does perform a prayer before dinner, but thats the only insight into religion we get in their household (from Ax, in #8).
I think if you stuck an asian Ani in there it would become almost too P.C. Suddenly the Animorphs would look an awful lot like the Power Rangers. :P
Granted, Tuan/Timmy was Asian and he was an auxilary Animorph.
-
Yea it would be P.C. but then we could make Captain Aximilli jokes. He's already blue. And if they were the power rangers you know that Cassie would be the black ranger because that show was as racist as it was p.c. Marco would probably look good in spandex.
-
um...the first season was probably a little racist, but the later season don't seem racist to me. there was a black red ranger, an asian pink ranger, an asian blue ranger, a black green ranger...
-
yea, I wonder why K.A. never made a power rangers joke. It just seems exactly like the thing that Marco would say. I can just see him bringing everyone down to a power rangers stereotype and Rachel beating on him for probably calling her the pink ranger. Marco was the blue ranger, Jake was the red, Cassie was the black, Tobias was the green and Ax was the yellow. I forget if there were any other rangers. I would have liked to see Elfangor in the great and powerful Oz tube as zordon was. My God I know too much about this crap.
-
there are a total of...11 different colors so far.
red, yellow, blue
green, pink, black, white
silver, violet, crimson, navy
-
Well they are the mighty MORPHING Animorphs
-
what's your point?
-
lol lets just try to remember this is an animorphs forum not power rangers
-
What an ignorant thing to say. Balance things out? How condescending towards minorities.
Applegate didn't feel like putting an Asian character so she carried that out. Simple as that. Why? It's none of your business.
-
The same reason I don't have an Asian character in one of my own stories. "Just 'cause".
And the reason I have a Hispanic character? 'Cause I like the name Eva.
There's no real reason for the races of your characters unless your intentionally trying to be P.C., in which case it's usually completely obvious that your trying too hard. Characters should just come to you, and sometimes their Asian, sometimes their Black, sometimes their Hispanic, and sometimes their Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, or Goblins. *shrugs*

I was thinking more on the lines of Captain Planet.
-
Okay, obviously I can gather what PC means from context, but could someone tell me what it actually stands for?
-
politically correct
-
Ah! Thank you. Well, now I feel stupid.
-
Because they didn't happen to be friends with an Asian kid who just happened to randomly hook up with them at the mall that particular night?
Oh, silly K.A. U b tha racistz.
-
I'm surprised a mighty morphing power rangers joke wasn't made. I had my character make one in the RPG I'm in. Maybe KA wasn't familiar with the series.
I don't know if the first season of Power Rangers was racist, or if they just did it to help the fans remember the characters. Like how they all wore the same colored shirts as well. The red ranger wore a red shirt, ect. when he wasn't in his suit.
-
GO GO POWER RANGERS!
*plays epic guitar intro*
-
politically correct
*struggles to resist unleashing a rant about how bad political correctness has gone so far*

I don't believe in "PC", but I believe that's it's best for society if teams and characters in books, movies, TV shows, etc. are demographically representative of thier setting. :)
Of course that could just be my realism bias showing. :P

True. And there are a lot of Asians in California, so...xD
I don't really care about that though, it's not as if it would have made an OMG HUGE difference in the story if Tobias or whoever had been Asian.
-
yeah it really wouldnt have changed much of the story
ooo
rachel = asian = all my fantasies complete
-
Rachel can't be Asian. :P She's not precise and methodical and scientific and careful. Rachel's more like an angry Norseman or something.
-
Careful? Asians? I can tell you right now, the other kids in my shcool are anything but careful.
-

Haha...Haha...Yeah, a mom has a temper like Rachel. She's asian.
It doesn't really seem like it matters what race any of the Animorphs were, they were just the Animorphs...Yeah.
-

Amen.
-
I'm pretty sure the whole point of Animorphs were that the kids were just kids without having to file them under categories. They could have been poor kids from the projects or rich kids from the Hamptons, it wouldn't affect the story. Except alter Marco's life slightly.
-
Ghetto Animorphs would have been rad.
-

I'm assuming that there are no Asian Animorphs because no Asians happened to wander through the construction site the night Elfangor landed! (A mere matter of chance).
I do find it amazing that one of the kids who wandered through the construction site at the right time just happened to be Elfangor's son, and that another kid just happened to be Visser One's son!

Dude, that's why the Ellimist chose them :P
Idk why, I imagine Melissa as asian.

That's all you need. They are all still the animorphs you love.
-
Idk why, I imagine Melissa as asian.
The inside cover of "The Conspiracy" shows a crowd of people on a sidewalk, whom I believe were attendees at a Sharing meeting. I believe that the leftmost person is Assistant Principal Chapman. He looks white, so I assume that his daughter Melissa would also be white.
-
Why not have a Muslim Animorph, or a Native American Animorph?
-
Isn't Cassie native american?
-
She's Black
