Was I the only person who used to watch a very old TV show called "Manimal" and who was strongly reminded of it when reading the Animorphs?
For the sum up, in Manimal the main character has the power to change into animals and uses it to solve crimes...
Here is one of the main character's transformations into a panther (his favorite transformation, with falcon) :

The special effects are really really old.

I'd never heard of it, but according to the Wiki, it's from the 80's, so if anything, it was an influence on Animorphs.
If you overlook the whole "shapeshifter" thing being older than dirt, that is.
TvTropes says it's "So Bad It's Good" so I'll have to give it a good look.

Haha! Yeah, they don't even have an entire season. But when you are 5*, it's cool to watch :XD:
* and have never had any exposure to modern special effects

Manimal is unironically awesome, I love it. Has little to do with Animorphs outside of the "guy turns into animals" concept, though.

Actually there is a reviewer of exploitation folms and such that goes by Cinema Snob that was a big Manimal fan.
I didn't watch it. I grew up in the 80's, but back then I was only interested in cartoons. If it wasn't animated, I didn't watch it. With maybe an exception or two.

didn't someone mention manimal on another topic? And that transformation is creepy

I watched this clip once before, actually, it came up under Animorphs, but as everyone else says, over look the whole morphing thing, it's nothing like Animorphs. Out of interest; does he touch animals and aquire them or does he just have every animal at his disposal? :/ Plus, where did he get his morphing powers?
P.S. This may become yet another of my crazes, I currently have...
. Animorphs
. Warriors
. Diagnosis Murder
. Werewolves
...And many more in my list ::)

i'm with the leopard on that one, roll over and cover my eyes!
btw, when i first glanced at this, i thought the manimal you were referring to was that guy from man vs. food. he had to eat something in order to be called a manimal. he mighta gotten a shirt for it
