Title: No Worries if you don't see much of me sometimes.
Post by: Estelore on August 09, 2008, 09:37:06 AM: Hi, folks. Okey, this weekend (until Monday evening or so), I'll be away visiting my Da and G'parents. I usually make these visits on a regular basis, so if you miss me at all during a weekend, this is the reason for it. If I ever have a longer-than-three-day-absence, I'll make my best efforts to let you all be aware of it.

Anyway, I hope that I shall see you late Monday. No worries, then! G'day! :)

Dameg, I mean this with absolutely NO offense to you, so please do not see it that way. :)
I simply do not wish to give any specific information about myself on the boards.
All I'm going to tell you (Dameg and Morfowt) is this:

1. I am quite a bit older than Anna, Ken, and Morfowt. This doesn't tell you much.

2. I am the same age as or younger than the oldest person in RAF. (Of course, if I am the oldest person, then this does not tell you anything at all...which is how I'd prefer to keep it.)

3. I am not 22, 23, or 24. Sorry, Dameg. I WILL tell you that at least one of your guesses is at or within seven years, plus or minus, of my actual age. Again, this doesn't really tell you anything at all.

4. I've been right to withhold my age, because the conclusions that you've drawn are precisely what I've expected. :)
I've enjoyed cultivating the benefits of your collective pre-conceived notions and stereotypes, and I shall not yet disillusion you.

Make of that what you will!

Post by: Estelore on September 28, 2008, 08:47:20 PM: Thanks for the well-wishing, folks. Clearly, I'm back. I have had a very long, interesting, pleasant weekend. I joined my grandparents and my aunt on a trip to a quilt show in Cape Girardeau, MO, and the workmanship was simply stunning, even if you don't like that sort of thing. There were some that looked like watercolour paintings, they were so intricately and artistically done.

After that, my g'parents and I went to Fort Kaskaskia to listen to Bluegrass, Cajun, Irish, and Dixieland music. It was superb, and the food was great.

I had much fun, and I'm glad to be back.

Now, I need sleep. :yawn:

Yeah, it's fairly annoying sometimes, but it DOES save some time when I'm adding text to a CAD drawing.

i got so used to it autocorrecting all my i's that i've stopped capitalizing that letter forever, or pretty much everything else.
(i type much faster now, nevertheless, so i guess it's a good tradeoff).

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. It is also my birthday. I shall, therefore, be spending this time exclusively with my father's family, and I'll not be back before Sunday, probably late in the evening.
This is my last notice to RAF before I head out for the remainder of the week. I hope to see you all again Sunday or Monday. Thanks for everything.
I'll be adding RAF to my list of things-that-make-me-thankful. :)

Anwai, there is a scene where this kid points out a logical fallacy made by the teacher. The teacher, of course, did this on purpose to CATCH someone trying to catch him in a logical fallacy. The teacher then made a fool of the kid, leading to much tense humour.
The point behind it all? Pointing out someone else's miniscule typographical errors does not make you any more intelligent than the person sitting next to you. In fact, it makes him quite a bit wiser than you, since he/she decided to keep that information to him/herself, store it for later use, maybe, instead of making it widely available to the public. Furthermore, it wastes the teacher's time AND yours, because you show yourself to be the kid who is used to being smarter than everyone else in the room, and now the teacher will be biased against you, which will alter his judgments about you (and he will have to second-guess himself EVERY time, just to be sure that he doesn't act on something simply because you p*** him off), and less time will be spent in the USEFUL sharing of information. He's here to teach you. Not to take your flack.

Always ALWAYS give out less information than you have. ALWAYS make sure you take away more than you give away. Use your resources, keep your own counsel, and deprive your competitors of those resources. Make your resources available, and you make him your equal. Tsk tsk tsk tsk....

I can speak (if it can be called that) Spanish, Chinese, Italian, and German. I can read Portuguese and (a small bit) of Latin (mostly from piecing together things from my English vocabulary). I feel slow :-\
