Title: Whatever happened to Marco's Step Mom
Post by: wolfev on August 06, 2008, 04:40:11 PM
His dad was really in love with her and then she became a controller. However, its never confirmed if she always was a controller or not. What happened. I know he went back to Eva but after the war did he just say, oh sorry to the other lady?

She wasn't always a controller because in #35 Marco said that they had watched her for three days, when she and Marco's dad first started dating.

I suppose it's possible she could have become a controller after that.  I doubt it though, I think Marco just said that to get him to forget about her.

Didn't Marco tell his dad that she was probably a controller all along, just to make him feel better? But they didn't mention it after the war..I'm sure she would've been pretty heartbroken though.

Nora only became a controller in The Revelation when the Yeerks were trying to infest employees of the observatory. She wasn't a controller prior to Marco's dad and not long after.

Marco's dad and Eva got back together and Nora was just screwed afterwards.

As far as I can recall, Nora was never mentioned again after #45, when Marco lied to his Dad about her being s Controller all along. In #35 Marco says they checked to make sure she wasn't a Controller, and it's unlikely she was infested between those 10 books. She was then infested in #45 when the Yeerks were after Marco's Dad. For all we know, she could have been killed by the end of the war, possibly during the explosion at the Yeerk Pool or in the final fight against the Yeerks in #53 and #54.

Nora definitely became a Controller shortly after Marco rescued his Dad from the Yeerks.  She was still living in Marco's former home and teaching at the local junior high school.  IMHO, a free Hork-Bajir goon squad should attempt to rescue her.

It is sad that she's just forgotten after 45, like she was more of a plot point than an actual character. So many loose ends left dangling at the end.

She wasn't a controller before 45. It's possible that the author of 45 didn't check that info before writing, and unintentionally had Marco do something really cold and selfish, or maybe they really did mean to show Marco's ruthless side. I don't know.
