Did this make anyone else just a little bit mad? In Megamorphs #2. In the Time of Dinosaurs, at the end the diver who the Animorphs led to the sub and saved the day tells everyone dolphins led her to it. People "suggest" her oxygen tank malfunctioned and she hallucinated. This REALLY pissed me off. First of all, they're doubting her word? The steps people will take not to believe anything unusual just plain astounds me. I sometimes want to grab someone and scream "You idiot! Stop being so close-minded! The whole world is going to hell that way!" The second thing is that there ARE reports of dolphins leading ships back to port, and so on. Why do people not want to believe? Jesus Christ, I find myself hoping the people who "suggested" it were destroyed by the Yeerks at the end of the books...

Have you considered that the people who said this were controllers trying to cover something up?

I mean, controllers or not, it sounds like a conclusion some people would come to. It's not unreasonable that people would follow the Occam's Razor theory and rule out the most likely possibilities first, as opposed to going with what the Weekly World News would have published on its front page.

Not sure why controllers would try to cover this up, though maybe they figure if there are enough threads of evidence out there, some important people might start to figure it out. So they downplayed it.

But obviously they aren't doing such a good job at the whole covert operation thing, as we seen in book sixteen. Sure, most of the people in that chat room were probably controllers, but a few people were probably on the right track.

It's called rationalism. If a story doesn't fit what you reasoned about the world, deny the credibility of the person who reported it. :P

On the other hand, its common for dolphins to help humans in distress, so people should find it plausible that dolphins would help to rescue that sub!
