Title: Diehard Animorphs Fan
Post by: NateSean on December 08, 2010, 11:24:00 AM
First off, it's great to have a forum like this. I've been a diehard fan of Animorphs from day one.

I still have the complete set from book one right up through 52, all of the Chronicles, Megamorphs and the two Alternamorphs. I have only read book one of Everworld but never really got into it because at the time I only had so much spending money and the Animorphs books were still going.

I never got into Remnants because by the time the Animorphs series ended I was going off to college and didn't have much spending money period. Libraries tend to be very lackadaisical in what they add to their collections, so even if they had books one through five, you might not see any more of the series. And anyone who has ever read a comic book from the 80's without knowing how it continues knows how frustrating that is.

Hope to be a big contributor here.

Welcome to RAF! :D I'm Steph. Nice to meet you!

Heh, I think every cent of my allowance went toward Animorphs. :P I don't think I had much time or money for other books, either, unless I borrowed them. XD (...Which suddenly explains why money became my favorite birthday/Christmas present.)

Pleased to meet you Steph. ;)

Thank you Snow for the welcome.

Oh, I read other books. The Chronicles of Narnia and a lot of the Star Trek tie-ins were among my favorites. Reading was my "rebellious" movement. I hung out at the library. :p

I only ever leant out two of my Animorphs books before I learned my lesson. Book One went out once and it came back missing the picture beneath Jake's anole morph. Then I leant out the FIRST AX BOOK SINCE THE ALIEN to my brother and he leant it to a friend. I never saw it again and had to buy a new copy of it when The Solution came out.

Finally I got ahold of the Hork Bajir Chronicles. My best friend asked if he could borrow it and the conversation went something like this:

"See the cover...see how shiny it is. I like that. The pages are nice and clean and free of stains. If this condition changes for any reason I will hold you responsible and what happened to the Hork-Bajir in the end will be a blessing compared to what will happen to you. Kay?"

Er...yeah, I'm protective of my books now.

XD haha, that's how I am. :P My friend's borrowing my books. After years of 1) listening to me obsess about Animorphs, and 2) knowing how anal I am about my books' condition... her reaction was to keep the books she borrows in a plastic binder. Also, considering I seem to know where every crease or rip came from, she knows I'm not likely to forget if she accidentally ruins one. :P

"See all the creases on number 3? My friend Allie. 5th grade. On the bus. *twitch* When she bought her copy, that thing was PRISTINE. -_- Oh, and the crease on the back cover of #9? ...Yeah. Backpack incident."

Perfect copy of #3 is impossible to find.

Oh, I'm Rad by the way.

wHELLcome, Sean! (we already have a Nate here, so I'll call you Sean, OK?)
I'm Vis... I'm Dameg, another RAFian. Come with me, please, I have something to show you. It's here, after this door *Open a heavy door* We call them the RAFprojects. *Lead Sean to a long and dark hallway, with many doors, some in the dark, some with light coming from the other side. Arrive near the first door* Here at your left...

- RAFipedia: http://rafipedia.wetpaint.com/ (http://rafipedia.wetpaint.com/), an encyclopedia headed up by Estelore, our star (a true star, who make light and burn in space... but she has a body to come on Earth);

Next it's...

- the Audiobooks project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=15.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=15.0), a full-cast audio version of Animorphs who need more "actors" and voices, headed by Kit Cloudkicker (Jess), MrGuy, Morfowt, and Wildweathel;

Facing it...

- the Graphic Novel project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,416.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,416.0.html) and http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2276.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2276.0.html), a Webcomic headed by Gafrash.

You also have...

- the Smiley project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1691.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1691.0.html), we make Animated gifs, smileys about Animorphs (Andalites, Hork-Bajirs...);

here and facing it is...

- the Translation project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1907.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1907.0.html), a recently started project/mutual support group for translations into other languages; currently only in French (Tocade, Anidragon and myself), Chinese (Morfowt), Indonesian (Nat), Swedish (Mira and Zana), and Esperanto (Wildweathel); we translate only the volumes never edited in our countries/languages, to make the ebooks;

Next door is for the special project:

- http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3738.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3738.0.html): the adventures of the RAFians;

At the end it's for the little projects:

- the http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3810.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3810.0.html);

- the http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3911.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3911.0.html) to make the planets we hear about in Animorphs;

- the paper-RPG project: a role-playing game (on table, with paper, pen and dices...) about the World of Animorphs; I head this project, and it'll be write in French at the beginning, but we need help to find, class and write everything we know about the species, the planets, the powers we see in Animorphs, fix them, see what we keep and what we can't keep (because of the KASU, not clear, exception for the main characters/books, etc.), complete the knowledges about species/planets we know and even create new species/planets...; this project will be on my own website, so if you wanna join, ask me the link ^^;

- the RPG project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,4069.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,4069.0.html) to make a video game about Animorphs, with RPGmaker;

- the Command-line game project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3787.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3787.0.html) for another kind of video game about Animorphs;

- the http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3773.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3773.0.html) where we count all the people killed by the Animorphs;

- the RAFkaraoke: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3150.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3150.0.html) and http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3635.msg245735.html#msg245735 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3635.msg245735.html#msg245735), where we make songs (and sing them?)...

- the One RAFian On Volume project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5317.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5317.0) where everybody take a picture of him/herself with a volume of Animorphs... <= We need a lot of RAFians to participate! You only need a volume of Animorphs (rented if you don't have any) & a camera/webcam

and some other projects who come and go. Please check the list: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/board,13.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/board,13.0.html)

*Standing in front of Sean* I hope you enjoyed your visit. Oh, and I also invite you to add your species on this list: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2154.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2154.0.html) 'coz everybody isn't Human here. And we like to know who is what... For example, as you'll probably see, I'm a Controller. ... and if you want, you can add your age too: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,318.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,318.0.html)... and say where do you live here: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5049.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5049.0) so Marie can add you on the RAFworld Map!
We also opened a http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=36.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=36.0) to teach to each others our languages and other stuffs.

Now I have to go, I don't invite you for the meal, sorry. *Beginning to go down dark stairs. Sean can hear a cry coming from the cave.*
Have fun!
*Dameg disappears into the darkness, Sean is now alone in the hallway*

'Preciate the tour.

I think it's cool that people are really taking an active role as fans of the Animorphs series. This isn't just a forum of people saying, "Omg, Animorphs Roxxors!" I think some of these projects are nobleminded and having seen what fans can do on an epic scale (Look at what the fans of Firefly were able to accomplish) I imagine you'll be able to do so much.

Will definitely be a regular contributer when I have the time. In between bits of writer's block with my original novel, fanfiction is a good way to get the spiderwebs out of the ol' attic.

Aloha, and welcome to RAF. I'm Aluminator, or Scott.

Anyway, this is an awesome place to discuss Animorphs... and anything else, actually. The forum's an amazing, jumpin' community. Spend some time exploring; you're bound to find plenty to like ;)

Here's hoping I see you around ^_^

Hey Sean!  Welcome to RAF, I'm Tara, a.k.a. Myitt, and I spend way too much of my free time daydreaming about fictitious alien slugs.

I think you'll like it here ;D

So is it Nate, or is it Sean? Regardless, I applaud you for spelling Sean the correct way (or at least, the Irish way).

Welcome aboard! I look forward to getting to know you on the boards, in chat and on skype! I think you'll find we're a pretty friendly bunch and we love newcomers! I saw that you're a writer too - I look forward to reading your stuff! If you enjoy role playing, we've got some pretty great ones that are both Animorphs related and non-Animorphs. Feel free to stop by!

Oh, and I'm Terenia (Teach, T, Jessi)!

Awesome -- did y'all get snow dumped on you recently? I know my parents did; they live in NC, so I know that's quite a ways, but I heard it was a huge storm. I'm in Houston, TX, by the way.

Hey!  My man Dave and I grew up in Bedford and Winchester, Mass.!  :D

We live in Colorado, now, but I'm heading back to Boston next week for the holidays.  I love Salem, it's so eccentric ;D

Man, they're getting snow everywhere but here. :p

My family in Vermont got a ton of snow but alas, Salem seems immune from it. It's the one thing I've been desperately missing since I moved down here.

Myitt: That's awesome. I agree, Salem is so many things to me right now. It's a lesson in tolerance when you look at the history but it's also a place of so much opportunity. If you're bored here it's because you're not looking for things to do. I'll never grow tired of it.

Oh and to answer Christmas T, because I didn't get a chance to before: Sean is fine.

I actually was looking at buying a condo in Salem...but, alas, that ship has sailed.  That was a couple of years ago...before I decided I didn't want to be stuck at my old job paying a mortgage.  Instead, Colorado and dinosaurs, wheee!

And the weird thing is, we've barely gotten any snow here in the Boulder area, too!

This year's been kind of crap for snow, but Colorado front range snow season tends to be in the spring anyway. I'm hoping for some crazy blizzards in the late-February-to-April area :D
