Title: Giving Away My Animorphs Books
Post by: SiberianTiger on December 07, 2010, 04:30:08 PM
Hey All,

I posted this on another Animorphs forum and then I found this one, so I figure why not share what I have to say here too.

I was a huge-time Animorphs fan as a kid, and I still have fond memories of the series.  But since I'm currently in the middle of a spiritual process, I would like to get rid of most if not all of my material belongings.  Part of those belongings include my Animorphs books.

These are the books I have:
Books 9 - 30
Megamorphs 1 - 3
Andalite Chronicles
Hork-Bajir Chronicles

I'm fairly certain I have 1-8 somewhere in my room, but since I'm still in the middle of cleaning, I'd have to find them.  The books are in really good condition as I kept them in a box and haven't really touched them since 1999 - 2000.  Some are torn at the cover, but that was probably from when I would carry them around with me everywhere and read them.  They are the english, american editions.  Many from their first print.

If someone that would love the books and would treat them with tender-lovin' care, I'll gladly mail them to you if you'd like to cover shipping expenses.  I'm not asking for money or payment or whatever, but yeah, I just want the books to have a good home.  If you know someone that might like this please let them know.  As it stands, I'm going to donate the books to a library if I don't receive a response by this Friday.

And if you're curious about what I'm up to.... mawkishkabob.wordpr ess.com.

Have an awesome day.

And I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Sounds promising. I'm definitely interested in getting some of the books (since I started reading the series after if ended) but I don't know if I'd be willing to go through the whole "mailing" thing. Interesting that you're not interested in getting payment; I respect that.

If you don't mind my asking, what is this spiritual experience?

I'd love to get my hands on these - I'm missing #26 and Andalite Chronicles, and I have some kids I babysit who wants a few of the early books. I'll PM you my address if you get back to me and will gladly cover shipping.

^ When you get yours, let me know. I want some too, but I'm a bit paranoid about giving my address to people I meet on the net.

If we learned anything from book Sixteen, it's never talk to people on the net :P

#26 is my favorite because of the cover, and all the crazy sci-fi shenanigans that went on it.   Oh, I'm tempted to read it before I send it off...

The spiritual side of the whole thing is that I want to delve as far into a monastic, simplistic, and buddhist lifestyle as I possibly can.  I'm way too attached to the things I own, and I really don't mind sharing my old belongings with anyone in an effort to get rid of things.

Thanks all for the relatively quick reply.  I'll respond privately about the books.

Oh man what type of Hork-Bajir chronicles is it? Hardcover? And I am REALLY interested in the three MMs. I will give you 20-25 dollars for all of those three. I REALLY want them.

I have the entire collection and it's currently sitting in my brother's apartment. I'd love to give it away to the right person but I'm kind of in a Willy Wonka mindset when it comes to it. I'd have to give it to the one kid who would take a bullet for them as I would.

If I could only choose a few, I would want all the Tobias books--except the Encounter ands the Diversion, since I already have those-- the David Trilogy--except the Threat, since I already have that one-- and maybe the one where they go to Atlantis. There are others, but none really come to mind.

I think it's safe to say that my books are in perfect condition; except maybe book 3, but that's not my fault. I blame scholastic! That hole that's on the cover-where you see the inside cover image- is slightly torn, but not significantly torn.

If I remember correctly, I have:

     3: The Encounter
     37: The Weakness
     21: The Threat
     46: the Deception
     49: The Diversion
     The Andalite Chronicles

hey! i have the same number of books that you have. but luckily for me they're all close together so i don't miss much when i read them all, but with that in mind all my books are at the start.

If somebody want to give them away... very away... like on the other side of the ocean... I'd like to have the entire collection in English too. The books aren't expensive in the US, but shipping for each of them is just... too much...

I would take a bullet for ANY of my books. I want to rebuild my entire collection. The first time they got taken away I was incensed. It was all Modern Estates' fault.

I only have #33, #45, HBC, and Visser. I only bought the ones my local library didn't have when I was reading the series originally.

well, i don't need any myself, but i think it would only be fair to distribute them relatively equally.
we should count how many people want them.

I have an extra of #21 I want to get rid of if anyone wants it.  PM me!

You should hold some kind of contest, like Wonka  :P

Tell you what though. I would donate my entire set if you every wanted to hold an auction. But three things would have to happen no matter how much money we made from said auction.

1: The money would have to be split three ways. Two of those ways would have to go to a charity that is proven to help children who want to be helped. For example: Make-A-Wish is an acceptable charity because the children they help have a choice to accept it or not. Autism Speaks is not because they do not care what the targets of their "help" think. The third split would go to keeping this forum and it's many projects alive.

2: I would personally need to be there to be sure the money gets where it has to go.

3: The person who won the bid would have to promise me that they will never seperate the collection whatever happens.

So if the Forum Admins ever want to discuss something like that I'd be all ears.

I have *almost* the entire series I'd love to get rid of as well. I was considering just putting it up on an auction on ebay, but I guess if there's someone here from this community who I know would really love and appreciate it more than some random off ebay I'll sell it to them. I can check on the exact number when I get home. Pretty sure it's #1-49, 54, all chronicles and MMs...

What kind of condition are these books in? Like, library quality, with pictures and names written in the margins, or loyal-fan-knows-how-to-keep-his-belongings-safe quality? Even decent quality would be alright

I may be interested... As I said, I'd like to have the series in English too. But with the shipping, it can be expensive, so I don't know...

Hmm, didn't want to make a whole new thread for this so I'm just threadhopping this one. I have some extra books I'm looking to get rid of. Books I have are:

MM1: The Andalite's Gift
#2: The Visitor
#3: The Encounter
#6: The Capture
#7: The Stranger
#9: The Secret
#11: The Forgotten
#14: The Unknown

All are in decent shape, but #9 has the most cover wear. I really didn't want to deal with the hassle of putting up another listing on ebay (ugh I HATE ebay. I spent a couple hours today putting up a listing for a bigger lot of Ani books and now I'm just fed up with it) so I thought I'd try seeing if anyone here wanted them before I just drive out to Goodwill or someplace and drop them off there. Just pm me if you want them and I'll cross out whatever ones are claimed (first come, first serve basis). The more you want the better. That way I won't have to make as many shipments. I'm not completely opposed to sending the books out of my own pocket, but you know, a broke college student likes help (especially if you live outside the U.S. it can get really pricey) ;)

IDK does this sound fair? Is this allowed? If not I'll just delete this and make a trip out to Goodwill lol.

It is both fair and allowed, people have obviously done it in the past and goom found no objection to it when the thread was originally posted.

If I may ask, why do you want to get rid of your set?

*shrugs* I wasn't sure since we're getting closer to the re-release date.

They're extra books I had. When I was younger I knew someone else who liked Animorphs and when they outgrew them they gave me their set. In addition to the set they gave me they also had doubles of some of those books that belonged to a sibling of theirs. I'm keeping my set, but I really don't need three copies of The Visitor or whatever laying around. :p I'm selling the more complete set on ebay and this is the extras from that.

There are SO many books that I don't have but there are many that I do have.Hopefully I can find a way to find more.I have been getting lucky and just finding them at old book stores and a Goodwill.

I even found a HUGE collection of books at a Salvation Army store once but I could only get five.
