I've found that when I read the books, I gave some of the main Andalite characters the voices of actors I'm familiar with. Do you do this, too? Here's my cast:
Elfangor - Christopher Reeve http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkcLRL9cBtk
Aximili - Elijah Wood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrIMKROmGSA
Aldrea - Willow Johnson (Kikyou in Inuyasha) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED0jdh3X3_Q
Alloran/Visser 3 - Christopher Lloyd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi_dkpgrMKw
It's not based on any roles the actors have played, it's just the sound of their voices and how I feel they fit the characters I "cast" them to play.

My Visser 3 will forever be Tim Curry. :P
As for the others... *shrug* they kinda' just evolve as I age. But yeah. Tim Curry as V3, forever. :)

I had to look him up to refresh my memory. Hehe, so Visser Three(One? I call him Visser Three :P) has an accent to you? Awesome :D
I remember watching the Animorphs show and being bothered by Elfangor's thoughtspeak voice(and Visser Three's, too, but Ax was fine). It had the right depth and rumble to it, but the tone itself just didn't seem warm enough. First and foremost I think "hero" along with Elfangor's name, and Superman is one of the top iconic heroes I can think of, so when I read the books he sounded like Christoper Reeve almost immediately.
But with Aldrea, I knew what kind of voice quality she had, but I didn't actually HEAR it until I saw the Inuyasha series and head Kikyou speak. I swear she has one of the prettiest speaking voices I've ever heard.
Ax needs a young voice that's not TOO young, so Elijah Wood fit perfectly. He always sounded like a boy whose voice is changed, but isn't deep.
Christopher Lloyd's voice sounds so rough, and he's older like Alloran/Visser Three. He sounds like somebody who has been through and seen Hell. Like maybe it was smoother in his youth and got rough as he aged.
It's fascinating to see what other people think :) Tim Curry is an interesting choice. I like it!
Anybody else want to chime in with their "voice actors?"

Visser Three's voice was interesting because I know he definitely used to sound like somebody. The problem is I have no idea who. I "created" his voice when I was eight years old. XD Most of the time it had this slightly whiny, arrogant tone to it. Like if he hadn't been such a brilliant strategist he would've come off as a petulant child. Though this was less whiny and more Phantom of the Opera theatric in the earlier books. But in the right situation it was somehow still terrifying, because then he lowered it into this rather calm, nasty "Oh I have you now" voice.
Jake sounded like one of the kids from "Are you Afraid of the Dark." Typical 90's twelve year old voice. I hated how he looked in the Animorphs TV show. He was too old and was just...wrong. XP I always saw him as the most normal of the Animorphs.
Tobias' voice is extremely airy and floaty in my head, if you know what this sounds like in a man. Like when he says, "I did it. I became Dude," he sounds like he's been taking too many drugs. X3 This gets a little manlier as the series goes, because I thought that Tobias out of all the characters matured greatly as the series went on. He was kind of dippy when things began. Being a hawk hardened him.
Ax...sounds like an Asberger's kid when human. Always. XD If he doesn't sound socially awkward with odd voice tones then it doesn't come off right to me. But on the other hand I didn't want him to sound too painfully abnormal or too human. He was always inexplicably older than the other Animorphs, even though it was implied they were all the same age.
The problem is that I don't have any specific voice actors. Just an idea of what they "should" sound like.

That's understandable and makes a lot of sense.
I'm on the spectrum, and I still have trouble with the volume of my own voice. I'm very soft spoken, so I occasionally talk too loud and get accused of yelling at people. Oops. Sometimes--SOMETIMES--when I'm alone I like to play with voice sounds.
Maybe I'm an Andalite with amnesia who never demorphed! >:D j/k

I found Gafinilan's voice in my head! He'd be done by Keith David, aka Goliath from Gargoyles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT_oY6dox3k
Mertil sounds like Jonathan Frakes to me. He played Riker from Star Trek, The Next Generation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvJz87cOWCQ

Ehehehehe. I have Asberger's myself. :P Some people say that I come off as hard and businesslike even when I'm trying to put emotion into my voice. So I always gave Ax a variant of this because in my head he hadn't worked out the right vocal tones yet. In his thought-speak voice he could simply send the corresponding emotion too, so it wasn't a problem.

Awesome! :)
Oh hey, I grabbed a sound byte of Elfangor from in the show, from near the end of "Changes" where he appears to Tobias via a hologram. I'm happy to say his thoughtspeak voice sounds pretty close to what I imagined!
Here's a .wav of a really awesome quote he says: http://www.box.net/shared/y099zjre82 (large file because I wanted it good quality).
<I would gladly sacrifice forever with strangers for a single moment with someone I love.>

I always gave Visser 1/3 More of a deep and booming voice. Something that can be heard for a mile around and makes you piss your pants scared. I just always imagined him yelling and screaming at his subordinates.
I kinda gave Ax and Elfangor similar voices in my mind. I know it sounds weird but I usually gave them something almost melodic and soothing.
I really had a huge difference between good and evil when I was younger and those voices just kind of stuck!
