Does anyone know where I can buy the Japanese versions of the Animorphs books? I really want copies of them and I've been searching the internet, ebay, etc. and can't seem to find anywhere that sells them. Does anyone here know of a place that sells them?

Yeah I've been checking ebay to no avail. And I saw that site and looked at all the pictures. They are awesome but I really wanna try to buy my own...it is just finding copies that is the problem.

I bought mine on Amazon. Remember the title in Japanese is "Animoufu" (in katakana, a-ni-mo---fu).

I bought them when I was in Japan, and the less expensive ones... Now they're getting expensive and you also have the shipping rate who increase like hell when it's sent from Japan to another country. The books themselves, as second hand, are about 200~500 yen each ($2~5), but you'll probably pay them 1000 yen more (each, except if you buy them from the same seller, maybe it'll be a little less expensive). Just as I'm looking, "Takaraya" sell 4 of them, and the last one is sold only 190 yen by somebody else. Also, sometimes people don't accept to send to another country...

PS: If there are really problems about the shipping (nobody want to sell to America, for example), and you really want them, I can ask a Japanese friend to receive them and send them back to you, maybe. It'd take more time, of course.

I know. I'm hoping to try to get them second hand because they are cheaper. Dameg, if you could contact your friend and see how much it would cost me to get it from him/her, I would really appreciate it.

Hmm OK, I'll ask her.
And yeah, take them as second hand. Second hand books (and other things) in Japan are really cheap, even when they're in good shape. Not as in France ^^'
On the website, most of them are "good", there are "acceptable" ones only for the 2nd volume... and the "like new" are too expensive, so avoid them too ^^'
Why do you want them in Japanese? For collection, like me? ;) I'd also like the other languages, like Spanish... but it's expensive to have all the languages lol

I want them for my own personal collection. I've seen pictures of the illustrations in the Japanese versions butI want the actual books for myself.

The person who uploaded the pictures on flickr is also on Livejournal, and she said she got them from amazon.co.jp. I want some too! :)

I also scanned the pictures and put them... on RAF I think. Now they must be on Hirac Delest or somewhere...

So, what's up? How much for the shipping from Japan to US and how much for the shipping Japan-Japan?

When I got my copy of #3 it was something like $50US. Expensive for a 120 page YA book in any language, but oh well what the hell.
Amazon did ship to the US at least. They won't ship me games, but apparently books are okay.
I'd think it would be even more expensive if you just want to look at the pictures, but hey, I've never really understood the collectors instinct...
Surprisingly classy book, by the way. Hardcover with a ribbon and everything.

Besides, it makes me probably the only resident of Maine to have ever read the ravings of a suicidal hawk-boy--in Japanese. That makes me special.

I've been pretty busy lately but I did take a bit of time to look at the prices. I tried contacting some of the sellers who are selling used copies but so far, I haven't gotten any responses. So I have no idea about prices and shipping, etc.

@Hawky: Did you ask in English or in Japanese? Because many Japaneses don't speak English very well, or not at all, and even if they can a little, they're afraid to make mistakes and then don't write/speak it.
What you can do is add them in your basket on Amazon, then do as if you wanted to buy them and pay... and you'll see the price before accepting the payment (but there, you don't pay). And you'll probably see if they can be sent to the US too.
My friend hasn't answered yet. So you still have time to think about it ^^

I went to a translation site and translated my question into Japanese so it would be more easily understood. So I did ask in Japanese and not English. I will definitely try the whole "add to cart" thing. Thanks!

Thanks for her, Liz! Because, really, when I read she took a translation made by Babble Fish or something like that... ^^' Well, they don't really work, and I'm not even sure the Japaneses understood ^^'
PS: It's a problem that the not-occidental letters can't appear >_<
