Hey everyone!
New here. I lurked for a bit about six months ago, and decided i should finish the books before i joined.
As you can already guess, i love the Animorphs. I stopped reading them as a kid, not really by choice, and discovered the e-books a little before last christmas. Took me ages to finish them (damn undergrad and my necessity to pass it) but have burnt through the last fifteen this week. So happy. and a little sad.
Anyway, i'm a writer. Mostly poetry. Haven't written fiction in years. I love to read, and my favorite writer is Larry Levis.
Um... thats about it, i guess.

Heya patric, welcome to RAF! I'm Tara, I think you'll like it here ;D Hope so, anyway. Feel free to leave your sanity at the door, with the bellhop.
-
Hi patric! Welcome to RAF! :) I'm Steph! Nice to meet you.

good choice...
..on the finishing bit, not the lurking. :D
oh, and hi!

Hey there, patric! Welcome to RAF! We're all a great community here, I'm sure you'll have a great time. I changed my name, but it used to be Horsefan, so just call me Horse, Horsie, or Seal, 'cause I am a seal. Don't ask. :P
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to confiscate your sanity. If you don't give it to me willingly, I will lock you in a dark room, suck your sanity from your skull, and leave you in there for a day or 2.
Ahem...anyway...yea h, we're a little odd here, but don't be fooled--we can get into some really interesting conversations! I'm looking forward to seeing you around! :)
-
thanks everyone! i already feel welcome.
and Seal, you can have my sanity. or whats left of it! I mean, you can lock me in a dark room too, but only if you do my classwork!
-
Hehe. Okay, that was awesome. I'd already typed this, but then you got your reply in first, and it made me laugh, so I felt obligated to tell you so ;D
Hey patric! I've seen a couple of your posts. Glad you decided to introduce yourself ^_^
Welcome to RAF. Kick off your shoes, make yourself at home. Stay a while. Check it out. We've got threads on stuff you've never even thought about, Animorphs-related and otherwise!
It's good to have you here! Hopefully I'll see more of you around :D
-
Hi patric, I'm Marie! Welcome to RAF! Enjoy your stay! :D

you'll soon learn names. right now it's a bit hectic (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=1521) but it should settle down.. someday. :D
-
Oh, yes, thanks for reminding me, goom. I'm usually KitsuneMarie. PadmeAmidala is usually HorseFan (though lots of folks call her Sea)l. Yoda is usually Stephquiem. Han Solo is usually Myitt. A lot of us have included our usual screen names in parentheses, but not everyone has, so let us know if you have questions! :D

Arrive near the first door* Here at your left...
- The Ebooks project: [Help wanted!] Animorphs (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0)), Remnants (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,157.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,157.0.html) <= finished), Everworld (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,331.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,331.0.html) <= almost finished, it's our current priority, we need help to correct the volume #3 and check all the volumes to be sure there is no missing page); the Everworld/Animorphs ebooks need to be cleaned a little (mistakes, missing pages, we don't know where the chapters begin and finish, etc.) so if you wanna be a correcter... call me, I head that projects.
Facing it is...
- RAFipedia: http://rafipedia.wetpaint.com/ (http://rafipedia.wetpaint.com/), an encyclopedia headed up by Estelore, our star (a true star, who make light and burn in space... but she has a body to come on Earth);
Next it's...
- the Audiobooks project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=15.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=15.0), a full-cast audio version of Animorphs who need more "actors" and voices, headed by Kit Cloudkicker (Jess), MrGuy, Morfowt, and Wildweathel;
and here...
- the Graphic Novel project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,416.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,416.0.html) and http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2276.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2276.0.html), a Webcomic headed by Gafrash.
You also have...
- the Smiley project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1691.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1691.0.html), we make Animated gifs, smileys about Animorphs (Andalites, Hork-Bajirs...);
here and facing it is...
- the Translation project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1907.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1907.0.html), a recently started project/mutual support group for translations into other languages; currently only in French (Tocade, Anidragon and myself), Chinese (Morfowt), Indonesian (Nat), Swedish (Mira and Zana), and Esperanto (Wildweathel); we translate only the volumes never edited in our countries/languages, to make the ebooks;
Next door is for the special project:
- http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3738.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3738.0.html): the adventures of the RAFians;
At the end it's for the little projects:
- the http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3810.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3810.0.html);
- the http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3911.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3911.0.html) to make the planets we hear about in Animorphs;
- the paper-RPG project: a role-playing game (on table, with paper, pen and dices...) about the World of Animorphs; I head this project, and it'll be write in French at the beginning, but we need help to find, class and write everything we know about the species, the planets, the powers we see in Animorphs, fix them, see what we keep and what we can't keep (because of the KASU, not clear, exception for the main characters/books, etc.), complete the knowledges about species/planets we know and even create new species/planets...; this project will be on my own website, so if you wanna join, ask me the link ^^;
- the RPG project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,4069.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,4069.0.html) to make a video game about Animorphs, with RPGmaker;
- the Command-line game project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3787.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3787.0.html) for another kind of video game about Animorphs;
- the http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3773.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3773.0.html) where we count all the people killed by the Animorphs;
- the RAFkaraoke: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3150.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3150.0.html) and http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3635.msg245735.html#msg245735 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3635.msg245735.html#msg245735), where we make songs and sing them...
- the One RAFian On Volume project: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5317.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5317.0) where everybody take a picture of him/herself with a volume of Animorphs...
and some other projects who come and go. Please check the list: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/board,13.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/board,13.0.html)
*Standing in front of Patric* I hope you enjoyed your visit. Oh, and I also invite you to add your species on this list: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2154.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,2154.0.html) 'coz everybody isn't Human here. And we like to know who is what... For example, as you'll probably see, I'm a Controller. ... and if you want, you can add your age too: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,318.0.html (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,318.0.html)... and say where do you live here: http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5049.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5049.0) so Marie can add you on the RAFworld Map!
We also opened a http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=36.0 (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php?board=36.0) to teach to each others our languages and other stuffs.
Now I have to go now, we have an inspector and he wants to check our... installations. *Beginning to go down dark stairs quickly. Patric can hear a cry coming from the cave.*
Have fun!
*Dameg disappears into the darkness, Patric is now alone in the hallway*

Hey there! Welcome to RAF! I'm Gaz, nice to meet you.
I urge you to check out "Gaz Reads the Twilight "saga"" where I give a chapter by chapter review of the books. I'm gearing up to start book 3. These are very sarcastic, by the way.
-
Welcome to RAF! I'm Jess. :)
-
Huzzah, you guys are sweet.
Again, thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
Dameg *shakes hand* i might be able to help out with the Ebooks project! I own all but the last couple Everworld books and would be more then willing to lend a hand! I've been an editor for a few different lit magazine's so, while I'm not to good at line editing, i could give it a shot! *checks scheduler* I'm a little busy, my first semester of grad school, but if you're not to tight on deadlines I'd love to help!
other then that i'll definitely take a look at some of the other projects. they all look fun!
And, Gaz, i look forward to reading your review on those books. Sounds fun.
-
Yay! Sanity! :D *burns it*
Those who let me have their sanity usually stay longer. :P
I changed my name back to Horsefan, for now. So...yeah. :)
-
*Washing her hands with a hand sanitizer* OK, great ^^ Please read the main thread of the Ebook Project. You can work on the ebooks when you want, but you must tell me which ebook you are working on. There are few more rules, I let you read them quietly. But don't worry, you help when you have time for that ^^
-
Late as usual. Hi patric. Names, well for now, Darth Vader...but you can me shorty.
-
Hullo! I'm new here too :) I hear you on those pesky undergrad degrees; so many shows, so many books cruelly wasted. What did you study?
-
Hey Red! i just posted on your newness, but i'll reply anyway!
I actually studied creative writing in my undergrad, and am studying for Library Science right now (though i promise i haven't given up the world of poetry!)
-
Oh, awesome! We are quite the writerly community. I hate being asked this question myself but.. What kind of stuff do you write/write about, poetry-wise? I wanted to do Library Sciences. Gutted I passed it up and now can't afford it. Are you having fun on the course?
-
Haha, yeah, thats a hard question to answer. umm.... i guess i write a lot of first person (usually non-autobiographical) narrative poems. A lot of my older stuff was very rural oriented, then i wrote a lot of stuff about Ireland, and now that i've moved to the big city i seem to be writing a lot about that. How about yourself?
I actually really enjoy my courses. I have one pesky online class that is sort of taking the wind out of my sails, but otherwise its pretty awesome. We went on a trip to the Detroit Public Library yesterday, and got to talk with the librarians about what they do. Its a nice mix of practical (i'm actually trained to do a job) and academic (information and ethical theory).
I don't know how it is over where you live, but if you ever really want to pursue it i'd advise coming overseas. its pricy, but the American Library Association is virtually throwing money at people who can prove their worth. I myself need to get some of it to make my life a bit easier.
-
Like, confessional poetry? I'm a prose writer myself (she said, sounding incredibly pretentious) but I do on occasion write 'girl poetry' :p So why the rural? Were you just inspired or did you live in Ireland for a while?
Actually having a practical skill is definitely a good thing right now. Your course sounds good! This money-throwing thing sounds even better. I've always wanted to live in America and I think this qualifies as a good excuse to run away! There are like, no jobs in England.
(Sorry about all the poetry-based questions! I have an hour to kill and my kitten does not respond well to the philosophical or literary debates I try to have with it.)
-
No worries, i understand! Besides, i love talking poetry!
My writing isn't really confessional, at least not in the traditional sense... at least not usually... i do have a few poems here or there. I mostly do "i" naratives, but almost all of my poetry is too fictionalized to be confessional.
I guess i don't really know what school I fit into. My stuff isn't really in the post-modern camp. My stuff is very concrete and image based, but i'm not really an Imigist or Concrete poet. Hmm... i guess i'll have to think about that.
I grew up in a very rural area. Lived in the middle of the woods, surrounded by nature. As far as the Irish stuff goes, i'm really interested in Ireland. English, Irish, and Swedish are my family background, so that was sort of the seed. I really began to be interested by the music, then the lit, then the history. Over the summer i read a lot of Irish stuff, and as a result wrote a lot about it. I'm hoping to be able to save up some money and fly out there next semester.
My turn! what kinds of things do you write?
Yeah, there are tons of good schools over here too! The one I'm going to is in the top twenty library science schools, and its fairly easy to get into. I tried to get into the number one, but i was shot down fairly quickly. America is a pretty cool place, at least from my limited perspective. I mean, we have our problems, but so does everyone. While i don't have the authority to speak for everyne i'm going to anyway: you are welcome to come over!
