Hey guys, I'm Aly. I've been posting around a little bit, but I'm fairly new here. (: So I've been re reading the series, and was inspired to do some art. Thus far I've just drawn an andalite, and I was hoping I could get some critique here. Here it is:

Especially on the horse part-- I've never drawn a horse, nor ever really had much contact with them in real life, so I'd like some advice on that part especially. I'm sure there are some riders here :P The right front leg looks a little funky to me. I might make the chest deeper, too.
The plan for this one is to paint different "layers" of the Andalite. I want to do skeleton, organ system, and musculature. Maybe I'll do the outer skin, too. Organ system should be fun to attempt to design a feasible system, especially with the three hearts and the interesting way of eating.

i really like it! love the detail on the eyes.
tail seems a tad long, but otherwise it looks great :)

I think it's awesome! Really, your horse part is perfect ^^
Just one thing, maybe... it's about the proportions... the horse part is maybe a little too big in comparison with the upper side of the body and the head. Except that, it's really perfect!
PS: The tail is so hard to see that before I read Goom's message, I didn't see it! Goom is right, it's a little too long... but maybe if you make the upper body a little bigger it'll be ok.

Oh you're right, Dameg, the torso is small. I'll have to play with that to make it more proportioned. Thanks!
About the tail, I know its really long but I kind of figured it would have to be? To tailfight it'd have to arch over the body and still leave a little range to hit the enemy. Dunno though, I'll mess around with it.

It's something hard to draw the characters proportioned. I know I also have problems with that... I never had drawing lessons, so I don't know how to make the basis of a body, I draw just what I "see".
And if you make your tail a little less long, it'll work too, I think.

One trick that I've learned for drawing Andalite tails that are appropriately long - don't draw them in a straight line or straight curve. By "swooshing" them a bit (like in Visser (http://animorphsforum.com/ebooks/covers/visser.jpg). That allows you to make the length match the book description without it looking odd.
It looks really great, though. I love it!

I agree with what everyone else has said so far about the proportions and the tail length. I love it though. The neck, head and eyes are perfect. Better Andalite than I've done!

Welcome, Aly! It looks great, I think I can't add anything else that hasn't already been said--but I'd love to see some physiological overlays! Good work! :)

of course. i'm sure most of us couldn't draw anywhere near as good (or am i just speaking for myself? :P)
