What are your favorite and least favorite covers?
My favorite:
I love the b&w. The inside art is especially awesome, although I wish Marco had got his gorilla morph like he was supposed to...
My least favorite:
The hawk-rabbit morph always looked kinda dumb to me. Plus I don't like the first Tobias model very much xD
Go!
-
I've liked most Rachel cover book morphs except for The Return.
I did not like that really freaky cover for The Andalite's Gift
-
hmm...my favourite cover art would be:
mm#2. I just thought it looked cool what with the animorphs eyes and the cool background.
Jake's version. I like all 6 of the different versions equally. the seventh, I don't like as much.
my least favourite:
MM#3. I didn't really like how the animorphs looked in that. and the background doesn't seem to make sense to me.
-
My favorite was MM#4.
My least favorite The Visitor. It looked so fake compared to all the others.

-
i don't have a scanner, nor any idea how to use insert a picture, but my favorite was probably #19, where Cassie morphs to butterfuly, and my least favorite was probably #32, where Rachel morphs to starfish.
-
you don't need a scanner. all the cover images are at www.scholastic.com/animorphs
as for images, use [*img]insert image url here[/img] (minus the *)
-
I liked The Predator, simply because Marco is winking, and I feel it epitomizes him. Also loved The Underground.
Didn't like The Alien cover because I always assumed Ax's tail was much longer.
-

#19 was a great one, especially the blue and gold color scheme. <3
I really like the sky backgrounds for all the covers. They're all so pretty.
-
Didn't like The Alien cover because I always assumed Ax's tail was much longer.
Seriously, all of Ax's depictions would make it so he couldn't do more than scratch anyone in front of him!
Behind and to the sides, sure, he's a threat, but in front, how the hell would he get it in front?!
-
You're like one of those annoying film critics that points out a flaw in your favorite film now you can't enjoy it as much because you can't stop thinking about it
-
Really?
You're annoyed that someone complained about the cover art?
That the tail on the cover art is a huge thing? Not the way Tobias changes his human appearance like 4 times, or that mild little definance to morphing outfits that all the covers had?
My comment about the tails on the cover will forever haunt you?
Zomg, get over it
/done

I LOVED the cover of #19. Easily one of the most beautiful.
I also liked: 4, 15, 17, 20, 26, MM#4, The Andalite Chronicles, The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, and Visser.
Least favorite covers: 1, 7, 8, 18, 22, 28, 35, 48, The Ellimist Chronicles.
-
I love the cover of book 54. Its awesome.
I didn't like the covers of books 1, 2 and 5.
The first two, because they were just so fake looking.. and number 5 because of Marco's goofy and creepy smile... lol
-
Any of the covers with aliens on them (8, 29, 34, 43) are awesome since I could never figure out what they looked like from the descriptions.
I hated the covers that had morphs that never occured in the book (3, 19, 41, 48, 54) I suppose I can forgive 3 since there's not much else anybody could have done, as well as 54 since it looks cool and it was a special cover for the last book.
Overall, I'd say the best cover was 45 since it was the beginning of the end, it had the new (and improved) Marco model, and the meaning behind the ant morph was unsurpassed by any other.
The least favorite has to be 41. It was annoying to look at basically five humans on a cover when there should be two creatures of any kind and three 'in between' stages. It didn't even look like an Animorphs cover. Horrible.
-
I absolutely adored all the Animorph covers. I loved the color schemes...especiall y for the Logo on the top of the books because they were never alike.

Favorite :

ONly because it seemed too fantasyish for such a dark story

Ignoring the "special" covers.

Loved the color schemes, the placement of the morphs, and the background skies, as well as the models and their poses. I'm kinda leaning towards 45 being the best...it had such a significant feel to it, what with the logo change, the ant morph, the sky, the title and tagline, Marco's expression. The annoying TV logo is still there, though.
Least Favorites:

I don't really particularly dislike 53's cover, but I was a little disappointed with it. Jake's pose and the placement of the snake morph seem kinda bland, and that purple color scheme had just been used for book 50. The background is awesome, though.
-
my least favourite:
MM#3. I didn't really like how the animorphs looked in that. and the background doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Cassie's pose on that is so stupid, and Rachel's expression doesn't look right...

I always hated that one because Jake looked like a girl. xD

Cassie's pose does look pretty odd, doesn't it? It's the only one that stands out incorrectly. There are two things that I can't help but thinking:
Whether Jake is cupping Cassie's bum, or that Cassie is sitting on Jake's hand altogether. There's also the fact that Cassie's positioning infront of Ax reminds of "Ax the Prostitute".
Either way, odd.
-
LOL yeah
:crazy2:
-
ONly because it seemed too fantasyish for such a dark story
It was an ALIEN planet!
-
Truth....that fanfiction is getting to you isn't it?
Cassie looks like she's ready to fight that's all. Seriously. That's it.
Seriously Truth. STop it. haha
-
Tobias in the picture looks weird and so does Jake.
-
Tobias in the picture looks weird and so does Jake.
Yeah, I never liked that image of Tobias, it's not at all how I visualize him. The rest of them look okay, though.
I think Back to Before and the inside image of The Ellimist Chronicles were the best depictions of the Animorphs. The Andalite Chronicles had another good group shot. As much as I like the art for The Beginning, Rachel's picture on the inside image isn't how I image her. Still like the image, though.
-
I think my favorite is probably the Hork-Bajir Chronicles, that was a nice layout of art, especially the back cover ^^
...and you know what, even though it's a big Rolling Stones Hot Rocks rip off, I kinda liked the cover of 54...oh come on, the inside was cool... :P
I dunno what my least favorites are...maybe the Yeerk one, #29, because they're bright green and have flippers...are flippers ever described? XD; Yeah I guess MM#3 was kind of dumb, too.
-

Book 50 didn't have a purple color scheme. It was multi-colored. Unless you're talking about the spine which I ignore as part of the cover art. Also, if you're referring to the color of the title, those colors got reused a lot throughout the books.
Just a few things I wanted to be nit-picky about. No time to post my favorites/least favorites right now since I have to get to class. I will later though.
-
The AC cover is one of my favorites. I'm not sure why, but Elfangor looks so mystifying in it.
I don't like Ax's tail length in book 8, since it should definitely be longer.
I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the covers for the most part. Most everyone besides Cassie and possibly Ax changes their appearance multiple times in the series. It's inconsistent to say the least.
-
Ax's tail length always bothered me, as other people have said here as well. It didn't seem long enough to be able to reach above his head to attack anyone. I felt that Visser got that right the best.
Andalite Chronicles is probably my favourite special edition cover. Everything including the inside cover with the Animorphs looking down at him were really well done. Other covers that I also really liked: #2, 3, 19, 39, 43, MM#3, MM#4, Hork-Bajir, and Ellimist.
As for the worst cover, I didn't like #54 all that much at all. It didn't seem like an Animorphs cover. Also, the models in the last book were changed AGAIN. Rachel especially looked different from her previous book #48, and the one before that in #42, then #37, and then #32! If they really had to change the cover models, then I really wish that they had stuck with one and signed them up on a contract or something so that it'd all at least look consistent for all the future books. Instead, we were left guessing who these people were for #54.
Cassie obviously looked the same because it was the same person. Tobias and Marco's model were the same from MM#4. Ax was a cardboard cutout, so he didn't change. So it was really Rachel and Jake that bothered me the most here. Jake especially didn't make any sense. The model they used for #54 was the same model from #47, however, they used another model in #53 that looked like the older original Jake, yet in the next book #54, they revert back to the guy from #47. Ugh.
All this switching around was obviously done because of scheduling conflicts, but I still hated it. It's not only that, but the fact that the Jake in #54 looks like he's 10 years old, and younger than everyone else on the cover. Can you honestly look at him and think of him as the leader?
-
I wish they had either stayed with the same people, or just taken good shots at first then used digital aging throghout the series. You know, how they can use computers to tell what someone would look like a year from now, or three years from now? Repeatedly changing them around/using different people doesn't make sense to me.
Why did Tobias look older in the later books anyway? His morph is still thirteen years old, supposedly. He should look clearly younger than the rest in the later books, if they show him as Human.
Elfangor's tail blade looks like a realistic length to me, and it doesn't bother me that V3's tail is longer. Alloran is older than Elfangor, so his tail is probably at full adult length.
-
I liked preetty much all the covers except....
1(I just didnt like it and to be honest until I opened the book I had new idea what jake was morphing into, I think the tiger should've been the cover morph for tht book or homer)
2 and 47(they looked more like they were drawn instead of digitally altering two photos especially 47)
3(I just dont like how it turned out)
5(Marco looks weird with long hair)
54(I actually thought it was cool until I saw the second page and saw tht none of the animorphs looked rite, Jake looked real off cuz they're supposed to be 16 by then and he looks even younger than Ken and Morf)
MM1(I just didnt like this one esspecially since they gave Marco the wolf morph for tht cover and gave cassie a bug)
MM2(It didnt make any sense)
Elemist chronicles(I dont like how the ellimist looked I always pictured him looking like Professor Dumbledore)
-
As far as favorites I can't really pick. I kind of liked all the others but a few got on my nerves. Those are below with my reasonings.
Disliked:
(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk1.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk2-1.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk41.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk43.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk47.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk48.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk49.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bk54.jpg)(http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/beachbeagle/bkm1.jpg)
Reasons:
#1: It didn't morph the same as the others and they only did the head. Put it with the rest and it looks out of place.
#2: A few others look rather digitally done, but this one is totally a sketch. It's not bad, but it is out of place.
#41: Jake doesn't actually morph into his older self and clothing doesn't morph. It goes against the rules for morphing in the book and all that really happens is he gets older.
#43 & 49: Tobias looks younger than previously. It bugged me. About the only positive is that they finally had a blond model for him.
#47 & 48: The Jake and Rachel on these look way younger than they do on any other book and these are practically the last ones they're on in the series.
#54: The overlapping heads bugged me because it's hard to tell who's who.
MM1: I didn't like the half animal face half human face personally. Most of all didn't like Cassie's being the fly.
-
Tobias should look younger compared to everyone else because he is morphing his human self as it was when he acquired it. I.E. when he was about 13.
-
I liked the sketch look of the covers of #2 and #47, maybe all of the covers should have been like that. :P
-
I liked #54's cover art.
I can easily tell who each person is.
It goes like this:
- Ax
- Marco
- Cassie
- Tobias
- Rachel
- Jake
-

Yea it wasnt hard at all to tell who was who the only problen was the new Jake model stood out even more than Rachel(who was glowing in the center) I honestly had know clue who he was, so I thought when the thing said "It began with six, and it'll end with five" I thought tht Jake woukd die and this new guy was his 8 year old replacement.
-
Yes Tobias should look younger than everyone else.... the fact that he looks physically younger than he previously did wouldn't make sense though.
As far as 54, Maybe I'm one of few people who had issues. The darkness of the image and the overlapping heads just makes it hard for me to be certain of anyone but Ax, Cassie, and Rachel. The other three boys.... like heck I can tell. Besides which I just don't like having everyone's head overlapping like that so that might be the issue too.
-

I could tell Ax because of his eye stalks, Cassie because of her lips, and Rachel because of her hair. The other three not so much. Maybe Marco, now that someone has stated he's after Ax.
-
personally I thought that Marco on 20 was David.
-
I didn't like the new models, but I did like the way it was.
-
personally I thought that Marco on 20 was David.
So I'm not the only one who thought that when I first picked up 20? I'm not sure if it was the first book that pictured him darker and with short hair, but he was definitely lighter skinned and longer haired in 5.
-
He got the haircut in book 10 though, remember.
Anyways, this pic bothers me, so I scribbled on it in paint. Check it out.
Jake and Tobias look too similar. Sorry the writing doesn't show up properly.
I'm assuming thats Tobias on the left, Jake on the right.
-
. . . I've always assumed it was the other way around, Claire.
On topic, I honestly and sincerely feel pretty neutral about the book covers.
-
Lol, that was on topic. It's one of the inside covers....

Yeah, I know. Andalite Cronicles (sp?), right?
-
I'm not actually sure...

interesting to note rachel...what she's wearing...and how she has her arm on marco. haha
-

She's wearing something blue. That's all I can tell. That picture may have been made while KA was thinking of a Rachel/Marco relationship, as opposed to rachel/Tobias.
-
I agree. I've always thought Jake was the one with the red and white shirt on that.
As far as what Rachel's wearing it looks like a blue sweater and a red plaid skirt. I might be wrong though.
-
yeah, the skirt is interesting to note, but being the fashion girl she is, why not? but at the same time...at least IMO, it doesn't fit her...
-
Maybe it was because my heart was in my throat, but the David chronicles has best taglines and best covers overall, in terms of a set of chronological books.
-
Lol, that was on topic. It's one of the inside covers....
It was actually the cover of "An Alien Dies", when The Andalite Chronicles was split into three installments. That's why the complete version of TAC has two full blown inside cover pictures.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41SZ5AGJ16L._SS500_.jpg
Tobias is the one in the red/white shirt, and Jake's in the green. The Animorphs calendar had a photo of the models in that pose, in the same clothes and you can tell them apart there. Plus, the TAC picture emphasizes Tobias looking down at Elfangor which is appropriate cause that's the book that reveals Tobias is his son.
-
NICE HYLIAN DAN!

Yeah, Andalite Chronicles was merged into 1 book, but was released separately as 3 parts. I really wish it hadn't though because at the time no one really cared about spoilers, and many people gave away the ending for me about Tobias being Elfangor's son :(
Anyways, if you want confirm this proof: Go to Hirac Delest (http://www.hiracdelest.com/status.htm), click "Story" up at the top and scroll down. You'll see this exact same picture there. If you click on the individual Animorphs, it'll take you to their page. The picture was originally sliced by Scholastic (which is where I got it from), and they had the same setup. The boy in the red & white shirt is definitely Tobias, and was linked that way on the original Animorphs website also.

I liked The Predator, simply because Marco is winking, and I feel it epitomizes him...
OMG! I always thought that, too! Also I like this cover because Marco morphs his battle morph. Thank God because I saw one the one the artist would have done for a lobster. In all the other Marco covers he seems to morph small animals.
#19 was a great one, especially the blue and gold color scheme. <3
I, too, liked the colour scheme on #19. I'm gonna go with this one being my favorite cover art. It is beautifully done.
For my least favorite, I am going to go with cover of the very first book.
It seemed like it was still very much a experimental graphics thing. I know it captures a 90's feel with the graphics, but I wasn't moved by the plain backg. And the 'mid morph' stages were too long to do any sort of decent layout! Thank god they cut back a 6 stages one.
Just looks out of place. More than #2, I reckon.
I think the sketchy look in #2 saved it. They were still being somewhat experimental with a cover look here.
But I think the most memorable one was The cover with Elfangor for the Andalite Chronicles.
my least favourite:
MM#3. I didn't really like how the animorphs looked in that. and the background doesn't seem to make sense to me.
Cassie's pose on that is so stupid, and Rachel's expression doesn't look right...

Not really. For me the poses were about the composition. Marco and Cassie had to be sort of crouched so Tobias, Rachel and Ax could be visible. They are just posing for the morphs they turn into in the inside cover. This is also what makes Tobias look big and Ax kinda small.
I, too, think she looks like the only one who is ready to morph.
-
The Hork-Bajir Chronicles would have to be my favorite cover! Even the back of the book had a beautiful illustration on it. It made me have a feeling of peace and calm when I first saw that book.
I can't really think of one that I just hate though. Maybe #35 because of the poodle morph. Kinda lame to me ;p
-
lololololol.
