I remember when marco went ape on some punks hurting an old man. he was like...better to mine ur own business than to help someone out cus they may turn on you. In my opinion, if anyone does any rescue it would have been better to pick a more suitable animal. Like for example a dog. I mean if a dog comes to the rescue, anyone would be very grateful saying good boy and thanks. However, i giant gorilla? It's more of OMFG S*** get away!!!! WILD ANIMAL ON THE LOOSE!!!!!! The more subtle the choice of animal, the better the outcome IMO

True
But a dog is also much more likely to be killed in the fight then a gorilla. If your gonna help someone, most of the time you want to make sure you'd come out alive to.
Plus I would have figured the person would realize he's getting help. Maybe you wouldn't pet him after, but you'd still be awestruck and stammer out a thanks.
If any animal comes to your help, I figure it's either a hero, or rapid, domestic or not, and still give it a few feet
-
lol instead of pointing a gun. I mean a dog may not of been the only thing, there could be like a skunk or something stealthy, or even a bird scratching the daylights out of them.
-
a bird could also get killed by a gun. a skunk, though has possibilities. Unfortunately the smell would get to the person you're saving as well.
-
but hey they are alive after all.
-
that doesn't mean they consider you a hero. they consider you a lucky accident or something like that.
-
hey at least they won't come and shoot u with a gun. and call u a demon

Marco didn't have a skunk or a dog. All he had was wild animals like a wolf or gorilla.
I would do that kind of thing in my free time. A crime is a crime, whether it's thugs harrassing an old man, or alien parasites trying to dominate the world.

I completely agree. If I had the morphing power, I would definitely try to stop criminals. Plus I like the idea of doing a Spiderman: hearing sirens and then running into the nearest alley to change before following the cops to the crime scene! 8)

Well, I guess, now that I think about it, I wouldn't use my powers that way. In a similar way, but not that way.
1. Protect your friends, family, and yourself first.
2. Protect the people around you.
I guess, that comes as a priority... its kinda selfish, but i have weaknesses.... :)

I wouldn't hold that against anyone. I don't hold a stranger's life as equal value to a friend's or loved one's life either.

Yeah, I would agree to CounterInstinct there, too.
That's where I think I clash with Cassie's ideals so much and like Rachel's more. I mean, take book #48: The Return, it did Rachel c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e injustice on this topic.
I admire Rachel so much, because she has always been the one who would sacrifice her sanity for the security/protection of her friends and her family. In a bigger way than the other Animorphs I think. She would always be the one to say 'Let's do it', and never think twice about being the first to charge into battle, and she quite willingly accepted this role, not complaining about the Xena Warrior princess tag Marco gave her.
It was The Return, really, that set her on a path that made her lose it, I think.
Anyway, the morphing power has many implications AND responsibilities. Are you going to use it as a form of 'escapism' like Tobias, or for personal gain like the 'good' David, or as collectible item like Visser Three seemed to make use of his host's ability. I think Cassie would have been quite happy using the morphing just as a form to get the perspective of every animal on Earth.
I think in their situation, I would have embraced it as a way to realize 'the warrior within' like Rachel did.
I liked that scene where Marco rescued the old man. But also powerful were the scenes where Rachel does elephant to trash the circus. Or where Cassie/wolf advises the boy to keep quiet for his own safety.
PS: The bit where Rachel and Tobias saved the oatmeal-Controller guy was total bogus though, heheheh.
-
I don't know which scene you're talking about, but there wasn't one where only rachel and tobias saves him. there's the whole team saving him at the beginning, and rachel frees him at the end...
-
Haha, that would have been cool to see them fight crime a bit more, I'm sure they'd have some free time :P
edit: I just thought of something. If all the sick people could morph, they'd be healed, right? would it cure cancer, or would that still be present?
-
unless cancer has to do with DNA somehow, I think it'd be curable. after all, Marco was cured of rabies by morphing in #42...
-
Ah yes of course, I almost forgot about that part.
Wow. Give all the people in every hospital morphing abilities, and BAM everyone's healthy.
-
except for people who have been disabled since birth like some of the auxilary animorphs, and people who have lost their memory like loren, and people who reject the morphing power like mertil.
-
Some terminal illnesses would be fixed with Morphing as the ultimate cure, for sure.
Not to mention helping people with sexual issues like hermaphrodites, transvestites... I think one can see the implications Morphing could have in a REAL EARTH.
I reckon, knowing our score card as a race, it would get out of control and we would seriously f-up Mother Nature if left to our own devices.

Could morphing help transgenders find gender peace? I am imagining a transgender morphing to a preferred gender.
