ok let's start with...what does physiology mean, actually. I have a vague idea, but I'm not sure.

Anatomy and all that stuff.
Andalites have two hearts
Lack and Adrenal Gland
Absorb foot through their hooves
Lack Mouths
Have 2 stalk eyes
A tria gland in the brain that acts to filter bacteria and other diseases

their blood is not red

I think it was blue or green...

never mind. it's blue-blackish

they absorbe nutriance not the food itself that brings up an interesting point do andalites have  digestive and urinary systems?

I think they have three hearts, instead of two. They absorb nutrients, but not the grass itself? That's interesting.

They must have some kind of bone structure that connects the upper half to the lower half.

Also, they have nine fingers. I think it's nine. It's a few more than five, definitely.

Male and female tail blades are different. Might as well throw that out there as well.

no it's seven fingers

Okay, seven.

Has enyone ever noticed any fingernails? I notice on the cover of AC, Elfangor's left hand is closed. So it doesn't show his fingernails. I don't know if anything shows on Ax's books. I'll check.

I don't think they ever mention fingernails in the book actually. but I guess they're like human fingernails.

in book 8, his hands are partly open. book 18, they're open. the fingernails aren't anything special. they look like human fingernails

Okay. I figured they'd probably be like our nails, and not like claws or anything.

The eye stalks have been mentioned. I supposed eye stalks makes it so their main eyes don't have to be farther apart. I think herbivore eyes tend to be farther apart so they have almost 360 degree vision. Andalite main eyes are close together like ours.

can they breathe through their hooves? or can they only breathe through their nose?
Title: Re: Andalite physiology
Post by: Chad32 on July 13, 2008, 06:57:22 PM
It would be weird if they could breathe through their hooves. I think it's just their noses.

yes they breath through their nose

lets stay mature and all people, but I gotta know:
Ax and Elfangor got males have an upper body similair to a human male, do female Andalites have one like that to???
and how do they reproduce?
Title: Re: Andalite physiology
Post by: Chad32 on July 13, 2008, 08:35:12 PM
I'm not sure about reproduction, but it might be like doggy style. A male Andalite gets up on a female's lower half and goes at it. Eventually she will give birth to a baby that probably goes to eating grass and not milk. Unless the Andalite mother secretes it on the ground, and the baby takes in milk like that. That's assuming females have tits on their lower halves.

let's look at aldrea... I would say no, but that's just me.

as for how they reproduce, I'm guessing something similiar like how a horse does it.

Just to clarify the thing with the hooves. They actually eat the grass not just absorb the nutrients. There is some sort of suction involved because Elfangor sucks up Doctor pepper and Ax sucks up a snail and claims the meat was good but the shell was hard to digest. Oh, and when Andalites go to the bathroom how does that work? I mean, there was a whole device that was being studied in 14 that was just a bathroom.
Title: Re: Andalite physiology
Post by: morfowt on July 13, 2008, 10:27:02 PM
I don't think it's really suction. it just sort of enters the body kind of like a water enters a sponge.

i would assume they have genitalia for reproduction and waste removal

So what color is it?
Title: Re: Andalite physiology
Post by: Chad32 on July 14, 2008, 09:49:58 AM
I believe the waste in the Andalite toilet was a greenish color.

where'd you find that information?

I believe it was said the color of the stuff was greenish in the book. I might be wrong about that, too, though.

It gave off a greenish light inside.
I don't think that was waste, but maybe green helps andalites relax :P

I guess green would sort of make sense, seeing as how they eat grass...wait the grass on their homeworld is blue-green...although feces is a different color from the food you eat...

Oh wait I just realized anadlites don't go number 2 because they don't have an anus.

What ???
Yes, they most certainly do :P
Title: Re: Andalite physiology

No thats why their so uptight.
Title: Re: Andalite physiology
Post by: RYTX on July 15, 2008, 03:42:56 PM
That's totally contradicting.

You can't be anal if you don't have an anus.

*weak attempt to stay on topic*
Plus from a biological stand but they must have some from of anus, what goes in must come out.

Oy ::)

How about lungs, do they have four lungs?
Title: Re: Andalite physiology

the term anal comes from anal retentive in that you keep everything inside rather than expelling it. It also means their full of ****.

And maybe the shoot it out those nose slits

I'll just repost what I said in the random thoughts thread:

"My sister and myself were walking this evening and had a whole out discussion about Andalite anatomy. Like how would organs be arranged and how things would work. No idea how that got started, but it lasted a good 15-20 minutes.

We talked about the placement of the hearts, how big their lungs would be. Where would organs be in the first place and would they have doubles of anything since they have the humanoid torso and the deer/horse back? What sort of digestive/elimination system would they have since they don't chew stuff? How big would an andalite baby be? How would their spine work since it has to curve from torso to deer/horse body and the tail.

Do they have double rib cages? I guess they'd have to in order to support everything."

Hmm, I wonder how long an Andalite spine would be. ???
Must be pretty long if it has those 3 parts.

Well, you know mammals have to have breasts/tits. Unless thy lay eggs like platypus or achidnas, which I somehow doubt Andalites do.

Ax loses his Tria gland at the end of "The Sickness".  What will protect him from diseases?

I read in one of the books that Ax had THREE hearts!  (I think book 8 or 18).

How do they eliminate their wastes?
