Well, I was too old for the happy meal lol and didn't go very often to McDonald... and the joke isn't really funny in French (the translation is "Je voudrais un happy meal. Avec un supplément spécial" who means "I want an happy meal. With a special extra"... not really a joke =_=') PS: That's why I can't really say this sentence for the One Volume One RAFian project, even if I took this volume... in French, it s*cks...

Dameg, could you not perhaps translate it into something that means "I want a happy meal; please make it more happy [or happier]"?

Or with "extra joy" or something like that? :p

Hehe... I'm multilingual, but French is the one romance language that I've never dabbled at all. Sorry. :(

I haven't, but my friend worked at McDonald's and got it all the time.  It was code for putting marijuana into the happy meal box >.<  Or maybe just sexual innuendo.  And no, she didn't give any to them  ::)

Well even if you take it to have that meaning, which you certainly can, it makes more sense but the joke is still lost in the translation because the "happy" isn't treated as an ingredient that they explicitly ask for more of. It actually could have been funnier as a 'language joke' if they had rendered it:  "Je voudrais un happy meal. Avec un supplément happy"

Yeah, the joke isn't the same, even if every French know what "happy" means...
And as the joke isn't in the actual translation, I don't think I can make my own translation for the project... or can I? For example: "Je voudrais un happy meal. Avec un supplément de joie." But I can't translate "happy meal", as we call them like that in France too...

You are NEVER too old for happy meals.  :P

Seriously, the food is apportioned exactly right to satiate me without leaving me feeling lethargic or bloated. Once I get past the grease and salt (yes, that was a weak Aximili reference), they are rather tasty. :)

I don't like McDonalds enough to go there and order something that's not on the breakfast menu. Maybe I'll do it if they start doing breakfast Happy Meals

McDonald's and all fast food like that is pretty awful...I only eat it if it's the only thing open late at night and I'm dying of hunger -___-

Except maybe once in a long while, I'll get a craving for a Jr. Cheeseburger XD

McDonald's blows, Hardee's ftw. Someone should try that at Hardees or Burger King or Wendys for a joke.

If I hafta eat "fast food" it's more likely to be at Friendly's (New England/Northeast ice cream chain) or, more recently, Culver's (thanks to Jess for introducing us x3)

I used to eat in McDonald (or Quick, who is the Belgian-French version of Burger King/McDonald) quite often when I was in middle school (when I was about 12~15 years old) with friends... but then I went to NYC, and I ate in Burger King (and once in McDonald) everyday, like twice a day sometimes! I had no choice, I was in a group who decided to do that... The American burger are so full of fat and so awful, and I ate so many that I couldn't eat a burger or even enter in a McDonald/Quick during years after that... The smell alone made me sick. Now it's OK, I can even work in McDonald, and I can eat burgers in France and in Japan (and I also went in McDonald in England, because it was less bad than the burgers the woman we lived with made... =_='), but I will never ever eat a burger in the US. It's too horrible!
So remember: The burgers are different in each country. In France and even more in Japan, they're way less fat. And we have recipes from our countries (like the Teriyaki Burger, one of the favorite of some of my friends...).

LOL lots of Americans don't like fast food but they still end up eating it an awful lot.

I will admit I love fast food (and McDonald's) but I try to avoid it. However, I liked Narsi's best.

Narsi's, the best little family owned restaurant in the world, closed this March.  :'(

CURSE YOU SIMON MALLS. LET FAMILY BUSINESSES FUNCTION!!!

Personally, I don't really care for fast food, and McDonald's is the worst. I'll eat it sometimes, but.. Eh. I like Burger King and Hardee's if I have to eat FF.

Lol. I knew the weed thing before reading the series, a friend of mine worked at Mickie Dees and used to do that. Lol.
But, yes, I have asked for the Happy Meal with Extra Happy. :P

Dameg, American burgers are actually really very good, American fast food is what sucks. If you ever visit the states, try going to a little mom and pops restaurant, they make the best burgers EVAH!

woot, hardy's (cept it's carl's jr on my side of the country). in hawaii, we're forced to go to jack in the box cuz carl's jr is like an hour away and nothing else is open (cept mcdonalds but...

i've hated mcdonalds ever since they changed the nuggets from whatever mash they used to be back in the day to all white meat. idk what sort of crap they had in them before, but i thought it was tasty. i went there recently while on a backroads day trip because it was between mcd's or gas station food, i wish i'd chosen gas station food. my digestive system was not happy with me afterwards.

MCdonalds is awesome!

Anyway I have never asked for one and I usually just get a mini meal. Its pretty much the exact same as a "mighty kids meal" except no toy.
