Hi, newbie here. Well, new to the forums. I've been in love with these books since I picked up The Visitor at my sixth grade book fair back in '96.
Anyway, I'm sure this has been debated to death, so if someone could just point me toward an exhausted thread, I'll shut up about it. But I've been rereading the books, thanks to the ebooks on this site, and have been trying to piece together where the story takes place. If it's a real place at all.
It's by the ocean.
The weather is warm most of the time.
There are mountains nearby.
Once, when I was much younger, I took a look at all the morphs they had acquired from Cassie's barn, and looked up what area of the country all these animals had in common. I came up with Washington state, but the climate isn't quite right. I have it in my head that it's the West coast somewhere, but I'm partial to the Pacific.
Thoughts? Links?

Umm... they tell us where they are. In book 54.
-
Damn, they do? Well. That's a fail on my part. I thought I would've remembered. I'm on 51, I'll be there soon enough.
Thanks :)
-
No problem. :)
-
I think they say its
Sacramento, California
in book 54.
-
That was my top guess, based on paying attention to clues. But I haven't read that book in so long, I'd forgotten they'd said it.
-
it's not in that city exactly: in 51 when they fly to the capital it takes hours: longest they've ever flown, so obviously it's a fair distance out side of there.
popular guess is so cal, my guess is either somewhere north of LA, possibly (cuz I live there and what it to be) Nor Cal, toward the south end
I really don't know California all that well. I'm from Idaho, myself, but only ever went to California when I was about three.

do you live in idaho now?
-
I do, indeed. :)
-
hmmm where at if you don't mind my asking? I live here myself.
-
I'm from Boise, lived there my whole life, but I'm up in Moscow, now. Seventh year of college, whoooo....
I love Idaho. :D
-
sounds amazing. I'm from lil Emmett. In Nampa now. Work in Boise.
I'm just excited now i'm not the only idaho-rafian!
-
Never been to Emmet, but I have friends from there. Boise's awesome, I think. Lived in the same house my entire life in Southeast Boise.
-
i'm excited to talk to you sometime.. but i'm going to stop discussing it in this thread cause we're off topic. :)
make an intro thread :D

Yay, an Idaho Animorphs friend for Patty! XD Welcome, squeak! And I always thought their location was somewhere in the vicinity of...
Santa Barbara, since they mention southern California, working in SB post-war, and in Visser it's mentioned that The Sharing began in a quieter, smaller city near LA
-
And the climate/terrain is perfect, as far as I know. And they're close enough to movie stars and other public personalities. And close enough by plane to what I assumed to be Seattle, when they went to see what's-his-name.
-
I've seen it before and I reaffirm: I'd completely buy it that there there, except they never have a serious heat wave.
A glaring omission after you've spent a summer here.
or fall.
or spring....
-
There was a drought in 49...
-
Since I've started rereading over the last couple of weeks, I've been imagining them somewhere by Fresno. Of course, that's because I lived close to there for about 7 months. I long to go back to the mountains.... :( You can keep the ocean, give me the mountains!
-
did frenso move? Last time I was there the ocean was a bit, well it wasn't there, that's for sure.
And same problem for me, Frenso's wicked hot in the summers

I'm in Idaho right now! I'm going to college in Rexburg. But I'm also from SoCal.

Are you at BYU-I? I went there! They opened a Fong's in Utah Valley, but it just doesn't compare to the two in Rexburg. I'm thinking about going back, but I don't know if I can handle any more Rexburg winters.

-
haha. zoo rocks.
they're getting a giraffe end of month it think.
then the park with the pond and the swan paddleboats. :)
-
Last Time I was there they were raising money for one. That's cool that they've done it!
That pond is awesome. We should do it. :)
-
Yes BYU I! I haven't been to Fong's yet. A rafcon is definitely in order.
