Hi there,
I'm new to this forum. I've been lurking around and posting a little randomly, but thought I should officially introduce myself. Just to give a little background info on myself...I'm a 26 year old grad student (yes very old) living in Boston. I originally got into the animorphs series through my younger brother back when they were first being published. I remember the two of us eagerly waiting the newest release every month.
I recently started rereading the series when I went to visit my brother on vacation. We had originally shared the books, but he ended up getting to keep all of them eventually. Anyway, when I came back from vacation, I started looking for animorphs ebooks to continue reading the rest of the series, and came across this forum. I was very excited to find other animorphs fans who had continued to be touched by this series as I had.
I've since finished rereading the series and am excited that I have the chance to read Everworld and Remnants, which I never had gotten into before. I'm not holding out expectations that I will enjoy them more than animorphs, but I am still excited just the same. Anyway, hello again to everyone, and I am really happy to be here!

hey there, welcome to RAF! :)

I am Cloaky, thought I've also been called Cloakster (by Broken). And I'm only slightly less old at 25. Or 250, I forget. ;) :P
Welcome to RAF.

Welcome to RAF! I'm Gaz, nice to meet you!
Can I direct you over to the Meet & Greet thread in the main social area? You can learn more info. The next RAFchat Meet & Greet will be next month. Date to be determined.

Hi, comet! Welcome to RAF! There are a lot of folks about your age here, since Animorphs' target audience is now in its mid-twenties.
Drop by RAFchat or look us up on Skype (http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,863.msg41230.html#msg41230) sometime. It's a great way to meet other RAFians, get questions answered, and be integrated into the community.
-
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I'm glad to see so many different ani fans of all different ages and backgrounds :)
-
You guys are right... we're all getting sooooo old... :P
Haha. Hey comet! Welcome to RAF. Enjoy yourself around here. It shouldn't be too tough- there's always plenty going on (surprising and awesome for a forum based around a 90's era childrens' series). Make yourself at home. Uhh... electronically speaking. Anyway, it's great to have you here ^_^
-
by "all ages", you mean between 18 and 30, right? xD
because there seem to be a LOT of us.
official welcome from me. =O (even though i've already seen you in a million places.)
i want to know how katmike feel, knowing how many twenty-somethings still obsess over their books. O____o
IT HOOKS YOU. AND THEN IT NEVER LETS GO.

Welcome from Canada eh! Welcome to RAF, our happy little asylum on the prairie! On this board, you will encounter many strange and bizzare personas you have most likely never seen before, like Estelore! our resident literal, burning-in-space star with a human form! Or of course oir bizzare Seal/Horse hybrid, (Horsefan0123) She won the Fanfiction of they ear award for her revenge of the banned, which you must read. Then we have others, like cat/andalites and numerous fictional entietys! So while you reconfigure your brain to match the insanity here, and wait until Sealy bruns up your insanity, fell free to post around!
Have fun eh.

wHELLcome Comet ^^
You must already know the RAFproject, so you don't really need a visit, do you?
-
Welcome to RAF! :D I'm Steph.
-
Welcome yo :D
-
Hey Comet. Welcome to the forum. Let us know if you need anything. :)

Hi comet, welcome to RAF! I'm Tara, and I think it's incredibly funny that you grew up in Colorado and moved to Boston, and I grew up in Boston and am moving to Colorado XD
Right now I live very close to Boston, actually. I grew up in Winchester, Mass. There are a number of us RAFians in New England :D
Also I'll be 26 in June so don't feel too bad! And my boyfriend Dave (Pez001 who never posts) is already 27...the jerk.

Haha...actually I thought that was pretty funny too. As much as a I love Boston, I am jealous. You will enjoy the weather lots as it's a lot warmer!

Hmmm...do I sense a RAFian get-together New England style??
-
I was actually surprised at how warm it was when I visited! Must be the altitude and relative lack of humidity...a couple days ago it was 36F at night here in Boston and usually that isn't too bad, but I swear to god, it felt like negative a billion.
As for a New England RAFian get-together, I'm sure we could round up Duff (who is in Lowell), Zarris, my man Dave (Pez001whoneverposts) and myself :) We might even be able to drag weathel, he's in Portland x3
My preferred hangout: Cambridge :P
-
comet, Myittens (:P)- where in Colorado? Anywhere near me, per chance? I'm near Colorado Springs.
Just to get away from the New England talk. I was feeling left out.
-
Haha..I'll be moving to Boulder, Lumie, which I think is maybe a 2 hour drive from Colo. Spgs.? (I love highway sign abbreviations xD)
-
2 hours is about right, yeah. Cool ^_^ If I wind up moving back to Boulder (which is a distinct possibility at the moment), I might have to bug you occasionally :P
-
Sure! I don't really know anyone in Boulder except for a couple of students at CU and my boyfriend Dave (who technically isn't there yet, but he says he's moving with me, the big softie :P)
So it'd be fun to get together :)
And comet, if you ever find yourself back in CO... ;D you'd be welcome, too. In the meantime...so Cambridge? XD It's all good if you're weirded out meeting people online, but I promise we're not psycho killers. Just ask Jess, Liz, Claire, estrid (Kat), Duff (Tim), Shenmue654 (Kelly) and weathel (name withheld XD), they just think we're the lovable kind of crazy!

I grew up in suburb of Denver, about 25 minutes south of the city (so right in between Boulder and Colorado Springs). Denver is actually known to have 300 sunny days a year, so it's super nice. Everyone in Boston is always saying I should be used to the cold coming from Colorado, but I have to always tell them that Denver is actually super warm and dry :D Colorado Springs is a really cool city...we used to visit Garden of the Gods a bunch and hang out in the area.
When do you move to Boulder Tara? I would definitely be up for some quality time in Cambridge (I'm a green line girl, but I always love visiting Cambridge :D)
-
Green line eh? Is that BC, Northeastern, or something else nearby? (I live near Alewife so I'm a red line girl XD)
Yeah I love the idea of 300 days of sunshine a year! And I'm moving to Boulder probably around June or July, unless Dave finds a job earlier than that.

Haha, neither...Tufts. I just live in Brookline because it's cheaper than downtown (although not by much). Anyway, let me know if you want to plan something before June/July :D
-
Yeah, the city's waaay too expensive...even the 'burbs are tough to afford. It sounds like some of the towns near Boulder will be much easier on the wallet in that respect.
Are you in Tufts downtown, or in Medford? I live super super close to the Medford campus, ten minutes tops. You're probably downtown, I guess, since you live near there? I have a friend who's starting her dental school residency soon at Tufts Dental :D

I'm at the downtown campus, but there's no way that I could afford to live actually downtown. I'm looking for new apartments at this moment because I'm spending WAY too much on my current one and I'm a poor student.
Boulder is super cheap...you can even get an entire house if you want with a yard and porch!
-
Totally depends where you are in Boulder. I tend to think of the town as one of the most expensive places to live in Colorado. 30,000 students means anything sort of near CU campus is actually quite pricey
-
Yeah, I hear you on the poor student end of things--I'm quitting my cushy pharma lab job so I can go pursue paleo again and live off of ramen and other quality sodium products XD Why am I doing this, again?? Hehe...what are you studying downtown? Just curious, since most of those programs are med or nutrition based and I did biology as an undergrad (yeah...nerdy xD). I was at UMass Amherst though, out in what passes for the sticks in Mass.
I'm completely fine with living in one of the L-towns, I'm pretty sure I'll bring my car...and the bus system seems really good in the Boulder area. It looks like you take your chances in Boulder, the lower priced stuff is maybe a little project-ey? That's what ended up happening to me at my apartment out at UMass...another big school with lots of housing demand in a relatively small area >.<
comet, my cousin lives in Cleveland Circle...if that's not already where you are, maybe things are a bit cheaper there? I think that's on the green line, too...

Yeah that's definitely true that it depends on where you live in Boulder. Overall though, it will be much more reasonable than the East Coast.
I think downtown Denver would win in terms of most expensive though...

Ehhh...you'll be a lot happier studying what you truly enjoy :) And if I could, I would be a professional student my whole life haha. Anyway, I'm a med student (at the most expensive school in the country too to top it off), so I'm definitely racking up lots of student loans. It makes me sad every time I look at how much I owe.
I was actually planning to look in both Cleveland Circle and Allston, because both are fairly affordable (I use the term loosely here) and there's free street parking. Does your cousin like Cleveland Circle?
-
Dave's looking at video game jobs in Louisville, which isn't far away...and hopefully is also less expensive? x3
You're totally right, I'm psyched to be back in a field I like so much better...pharma is for the birds. And kudos on the med stuff, comet :D I did a lot of anatomy studying paleo, and really enjoyed it, but I salute anyone who takes human gross anatomy ;) We were discussing loans over in Tocade's and Dameg's threads, and it's just crazy how much school costs in the U.S. Keep on truckin' and I hope it pays off those loans several times fold! My uncle also went to Tufts, not in straight med but the dental program, and it does pay off in the end. Like you say, you've gotta do what you really enjoy, and things will fall into place with finances.
My cousin really likes Cleveland Circle, she says it's close to some good bars/restaurants and yeah it is on the green line so real convenient. I think she's on Strathmore Road. Good luck looking, let me know if I can help at all!

Hi all, just wanted to give you guys some really exciting news :D My boyfriend and I got engaged over the weekend!! I don't have a member thread yet, so I thought I'd just share the news here. My boyfriend took me to Philly this weekend since that's where we both went to undergrad (and met!). He arranged a really special night on Saturday, taking me to the restaurant that we went to on our first date and then to Penn's Landing, near the waterfront. The proposal was also super cute, but I can't remember half of what he said because I was so happy hahaha. The next day he took me to brunch, where he had invited both my parents and his parents as a surprise for me so that they could also celebrate with us. It was all really sweet :D
-
Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats! That's adorable! Yaaaaaay for you two! :woot2:
-
Hey congratulations!
-
Oh... wow! That's wonderful! Haha... congratulations! :D
-
Oh dude that's awesome news! Congratulations!! :D :D :D *hugss!* Dave and I are so happy for you guys!
I think we need to celebrate sometime! XD We need to meet this guy and see if we approve...mmyess... x3
Yaaayyyyyyyy!
-
Thanks everyone!
@Tara - We must indeed meet up again...he must get the official RAF (and Tara/Dave) seal of approval :D
-
Yup, we'll have to get a big stamp that says OK!
-
Awww, congratulations!!! :HUGZ: That's super cute!!
-
CONGRATS! :D

Yeah, congrats and good luck ;)
