Okay, noticed this about two days ago, and it's gotten much worse. The forum is REALLY laggy for me, like when I go to post a.. post, it'll sometimes take thrity minutes for it to clear, and post. until then, it just sits on the page, with the twirly FireFox thing in the tab meaning it's loading. Same go for previewing posts.
It doesn't do this to me on any other website, so I know it's not my internet connection... It makes me sad.
Oh, same goes for PMing, too.
Halp. RAF has fallen, and it can't get up. :(
-
doesn't do it for me.
that's odd.. have you tried RAF with IE (testing)?
-
It was laggy for me today and other days but never THAT bad.
-
I sometimes have to C/P the post, reload the page, and do it again. And it STILL takes a while. EX: Last night, before I went to bed, I was going to send a PM to Goom, I wrote the PM, clicked the send button, and when I got up today, it was STILL loading. -,-
Yeah, I've tried IE, didn't help. Tried SeaMonkey, too. Honestly, for me, anyway, it's acting like it does right before it goes down. *Winces and throws salt over shoulder*
-
laggy for me as well.
refreshing seems to help.
tweeted rich letting him know.
-
It's been really laggy lately for me as well. I think it's server wide because it was lagging a lot when I was looking at the ebooks yesterday too.
-
Hmm, the couple of times I'm on since Thursday, it has been fine. Can you guys post here when the lagging is happening?
-
It seems to happen on and off throughout the day. Not so bad at the moment.
Edit: Never mind, it just took 10 minutes to post that reply.
-
I'm not sure what's happening here. Things seem to be running fine on my end.
-
I was having these same problems before 12 today
-

it was happening earlier (when i tweeted you).
it seems a lot better now.
-
It seems to be completely random. I loaded 4 pages in a row just fine, but when I posted a response in the animorphs forum, it was slow as heck again. And then it was slow loading the next several pages. Then it was fast for one, then slow again.
-
agreed. :ditto:
although, as cody was saying, there was a time yesterday when literally EVERYTHING did that.
edit: haha nice it froze when i posted. :goom:
-
I posted that and then it took me an hour before I was even able to get the forum to come up again.
-
Last night I was trying to post a reply to this saying it was getting better, took 4 hours before I finally just gave up !!>_<!! Lol. I think the forum has started hating us. :( WHY RAF?! WHYYYYY?!
This may be enough to, dare I say it, log into MySpace! :P
*EDIT*
That went through FAST. Just like normal. Yay! :D
-
Everytime someone posts here, and I come on, and everything's fine.
Do you guys see the following at the bottom of the page:

Post that last line when you are experencing lagging.
-
i'm too impatient for that. here's what i've been experiencing:
there will be times when clicks go through automatically and times when the browser stops.
intervals are every 1-2 minutes. one minute is fine, one minute is terrible. so, if i keep refreshing until the minute passes, the page eventually does its thing. however, if i leave a click to its own devices, it -never- goes through. the page stops loading and sits halfway. i don't have the time to wait more than five minutes on a click, so, again, i refresh.
D: since i'm new here and this has been happening since a few days into my arrival, i kinda figured that this was normal.
well.
-
same for me.
when it lags, i refresh the page and click again.
waiting for hours does nothing helpful.
-
also, i'd like to point out that katmike mentioned something about one of their responses getting "eaten":
i think they're suffering the same problem we are.
-
The past few days when I click a link the first time it doesn't load, but if I click it again it's fine. I've had problems posting though, it usually takes several tries.
-
I have this problem occasionally too.. but it seems okay today
-
i didn't have any problems yesterday. D:
the differences were my being on a faster server, and using ie instead of ff, but i don't know if that really MADE a difference. i'll check again later today.
-
Broken - It would seem as if this has something to do with your ISP (or at least this is what our host is telling me). Have you contacted them about lagging. Or, have you had this type of problem on any other website?
How is the problem now?
-
It's been fine today, and I hadn't had this problem on any other sites until last night. IT took me three full minutes to load a TINY image. Straight 1990's dialup mode. :(
-
i'm kinda blaming the website because this is the only one at which i have had any problem like this at all.
D: ;;; sorry.
and i've used the same computer over different servers since this problem began occurring.
HOWEVER, as i say, the problem isn't really happening, anymore (regardless of browser or internet connection). now 's more of a "once or twice in a hundred clicks" as opposed to "once every three clicks".
so...... MAGIC? it fixed itself? i have no explanation.
-
i highly doubt all our computers were acting up at the same exact time.
there was something definitely wrong.
but, i wouldn't call cody's an accurate test. his internet is slow everywhere. (no offense)
-
It hasnt done it for me in a while so I think its getting better.. *crosses fingers knocks on wood*
-
I've also had this problem, but it hasn't been as bad this week.
-
This has happened to me before (somewhat recently) but it's only taken a couple minutes, at the maximum.
-
okay, i'm getting some loading problems again. same deal.
does it, by any chance, have to do with increased activity on the site?
1.- first time it happened was a bit after katmike joined the forum.
2.- now, isn't it like, right after you guys have started warning inactive members to start posting or watch their accounts get axed?
-
The issue doesn't happen to everyone (well, not to the point where it becomes noticeable), so I can't say that it is an activity issue.
Additionally, loads are well within 'normal' limits.
-
hmmmm...
well, the only issue i really have is that my posts keep disappearing. *eye twitch* i don't mind hitting f5 a few times, but i hate retyping posts. if/when it goes away, i'll come back and let someone know.
-
That's not cool. If it happens, post the time it happened here. I will cross check the time you give me and the server load to see if there was a burst of activity which caused the latency.
You haven't had any problems like this with any other website?
-
np. i'll try to remember.
and as for problems with other websites... nothing like this, no. =) but i'll keep you updated.
-
i cant "quote" anyone.
when i click on quote i get this error. every. time
An Error Has Occurred!
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.
well.. im on my sisters laptop.. i just signed into raf.. havent been logged on for an excessive amount of time or anything.. and it always does that from any computer
-
I've had that sporadic lag problem ever since I joined. I normally either refresh, or restart the browser and it works fine.
I'm now in the habit of copying any uber-posts before hitting "post".
-

What I do when I realise the page isn't really loading is copy the text before refreshing.
-
that is what i usually do.
but yesterday, the page would start to move and THEN freeze. so i didn't have time to copy-paste before the screen would go white/grey. trust me: i own copy-paste with lagging. D:
EDIT:
08:51:40 EST. approximately.
tried to post in the D-lounge. the page waited 15-20 seconds, then i received a "cannot load page" or something to that effect from iE. tried to refresh a few times and RAF finally defaulted me to a blank 'new topic' page.
i actually half-suspect that this new wave of problems is the server on my end. but right now, we're talking remote white house servers....
ANYWAY. still not having these problems with other pages.
and tonight... on a different computer, different server, different browser. ~06:36:15 EST. website froze.... came back up after i refreshed 3-4 times. it didn't eat my post this time, though. =)
-
Getting lots of lag at the moment. Keep having to do the copy/paste posts and refresh thing. -_-
-
Today has been a very laggy day on RAF.
-
For me, since I joined, RAF has occasionally had trouble loading a page or ate a post or whatever, but I haven't really thought twice about it until the last week or so. What seems to be happening consistently to me throughout the work day (c. 8-5 MST) is that I can post or load 3 or 4 pages quickly like normal, and then the forum hangs up and refuses to load anything for 20 minutes or more, at which point it will load any RAF tabs I have open all at once. Once it's loaded everything, I can again post 3 or 4 times before it hangs again. I've noticed this on two different computers from three separate internet connections. Granted, they've all been on Firefox (I don't want to have to use IE or whatever for RAF... blech...), but it's not something I've noticed with any other website.
I did try logging in last night (about 12:30 to 1:00 MST) and the forum felt significantly less laggy than it has been. I did give up on posting, however, after several (5?) of my posts failed to actually... like... post. 5 in a row is worse than ever before. There's definitely something screwy going on here.
-
What I had to do yesterday for both posting and sending PMs, is when it would star acting like it just wasn't going to post--the page acts like it's loading, but nothing actually happens-- is I would copy my pm/post, then open the same page in a new tab, close the original tab, and post it from that page. Seemed to work pretty well, until about 3-4 posts/pms later, when the forum gave me the message that said it's down, and to use Twitter, or chat.
When that happened I gave up on accessing the forum until later that night, and it worked pretty well then.
-
Basically what Cody and Al said has been happening to me for last three days. 3-4 pages fine, then have to copy/paste post and try again.
-
Oh my gosh, the last couple days have been laaaaaag city. Happens almost every time I try to load a page. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes this post 56 years to finish.
EDIT: It did, I just had to refresh about 5 times.
-
It seems to happen randomly, but this lagging/loading thing is still a problem for me too regardless of the computer I'm using. One moment the pages are loading fine, the next nothing is happening and I have to refresh multiple times.
-
its been happening to me as well :\
-
Hmm, that's weird. None of this has happened to me - not even once.
Granted, I don't post that much, but since this has started (according to this thread) I've browsed RAF/posted a bit from my phone, iPod and at least 2 computers. No lagging at all so far.
-
Consider yourself lucky Ash, lol. It happens to me every other post now!
-
I'm beginning to have these problems also. Looking into it.
-
Thanks Rich. :)
-
Thanks Richard...just wanted to post here too because I've been having the same issues of lagging/posts not going through.
-
Not so bad today. Yesterday was really horrible though.
-
I'm having the lagging/loading problems. It's happening on all of the various boards, and it's not just when I'm posting, but also when I'm just trying to load a thread.
-
i had the forum pretty much shut down on me for the space of an hour or so- i could not load any pages at all. D: that sucked.
anyway. happened from around 1600 EST until maybe 1700 EST.
-

Yeah mine is the same. Seemed a bit better for a while yesterday but got worse again and today it's been just as bad. I have to refresh several times for most of my posts now.
-
If it is a traffic issue, I'm sure the amount of refreshing we all have to do to post doesn't help anything either. I've taken to just requesting a page or clicking post, and then waiting the ten or fifteen minutes it takes for it to go through, rather than trying multiple times.
-
It was better for awhile, but the last few days I've had the same problem with pages refusing to load. I've started waiting about five minutes after the trouble starts, and then trying again.
-
I'm having trouble too...tried to upload some photos last night but gave up.
-
I, nor the host seem to know what's wrong. The only option (at this time) is to spend $US500 a year on a new server.
Of course, our kitty doesn't have that type of money, so we'll wait to see if the issues clear up, or if we can further diagnose the issue.
-
It's actually not bad at all today. :D
-
It's actually not bad at all today. :D
I've been online for 30 minutes now, and no lagging.
-
Aside from my internet timing out for a few seconds sometimes, it's been okay today and yesterday. XD

That's really good to know. Goes to show that it's nothing wrong with our set up, but rather the server.
-
It's been okay for me too, the last couple of days. Hopefully it was just something temporary. We don't really get enough traffic that we should be having issues like that.
-
The lag has cleared up for me too.
-
I hope I'm not tempting fate by saying this, but I think mine is better too. Didn't have any problems late last night and it's been fine today too! :D
-
Anyone else has lagging to report? The lack of lagging maybe?
-
since i seem to suffer some comparatively bad lagging (when it is happening), i will state that i am not suffering from any major lagging.
this site is still a weeee bit slower than others, but there's nothing to complain about. at all. so.... i'm happy. :)
-
I think the period of lag has gone away at last! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D x10

I second that. It's actually scarier to me when we don't know where it came from... or when it could strike again! Dun dun duuunnnnn!
I'm hoping we miss out on a second batch of that one...
-
Everything is still fine on my end! *also crosses fingers*
-
Oh, sure guys, spoil my mood. Fine.
Still good!
