Hey there.
About merging posts--if I try to bump a thread I posted last in, then it just merges the post, and said thread remains...un-bumped. Just the other day I had to post in Guy's thread to bump it because he had posted last, and it merged his post.
It gets kinda annoying--I just wanted to point out some of the cons to this. This is the Feedback board.

We understand how the merging can affect bumping. But I think it's a good trade off for the hindrance of spam and upping post counts.
On the other hand, when the post is merged it is marked as new.

true, but editing the last post bumps it.
if you wanted to, you could just edit the last one. (rather than posting twice)

I don't recall this bumping it--when Guy's post got merged, it didn't get bumped. That's why he asked me to resurrect it.
-
Yeah, I haven't seen it bump for any of my merged posts either.

merging doesn't bump. editing does.

I tried editing the last post I had made in my thread, and it didn't bump it. I had to copy the text, remove the post and then repost it.

Yep, this is gonna suck for the "member profile" part since people tend to write in it like if it was a kind of diary.
Double posting in this part is a common thing.
*imagining a poor rafian updating his member profile space and realizing it is still page 2* ;D
Hahaha
No really guys, is double posting such a problem to make all this stuff happens?
In a Rafcrime scale it would stand on a pretty low level.
-
Double posting is just irksome for us, mods get pet peeves for things normal members never notice
-
Ah yeah well...
I understand, I get the same thing when someone comes to my house and starts touching things they shouldn't touch or sitting in places which are normally mine.
But in that case, is it really vital to the forum?
I have nothing against the merged post thingy but it is a bit ridiculous that you have to delete your old post and write a new one so that you can bump the thread (especially in the member profiles...).

wait, richard, did you never add it ?
i could have sworn that you did.
added it, enjoy!!
-
...What exactly did you add? XD
-
now if you edit something it should bump the thread
-

:P We can put those on buttons and elect him to public office.

not quite, but close enough. only if you're the last poster. (prevents the need to double post).
-
Ok Goom I take back what I said.
Now that I have been accidentally banned ;D
-
haha, my bad.
you're just unlucky (lucky?) like that. happy birthday btw! :)
