Im sorry if this has been discussed before, but what happened to the 'Auxiliary Animorphs', the handicapped kids that the animorphs gave the morphing power to. I see that some died but its not very likely that all 17 new animorphs died and only 1 of the original animorphs died. In the last book it is stated that only the original animorphs (except rachel) are the surviving animorphs. Why were they not even mentioned in the last book? Have I missed something?
-
They probably all wound up dead. If they weren't all dead, they would probably get mentioned after the final battle. On the other hand, there were multiple people that readers were likely more emotionally invested in that got no mention.
It's possible that a few survived due to not going into battle.
-
You have missed nothing. There was a bit at the end but there were only three confrmed kills. It may have been a comment that wasn't quite thought out. Also I think that after the first few books they were in they sort of dropped into the backround.
-
Surely human kids with morphing powers would be famous and get onto the David Letterman show too?
-
We are left to assume that they all died, even though it never directly says that ALL of them die (to my recollection). If they had survived I am certain there would have been at least a passing mention of them in some way, even if it was just to join Marco on Letterman. History tends to immortalize its strongest warriors, and while the Animorphs obviously would get the bulk of the glory, I have to imagine that the auxilaries would have been recognized as well.
There was a lot that could have been done with that group, but alas it was not meant to be. They all perished to help promote Applegates message of what war is like.
-
I thought they all got picked off one by one by the Blade Ship in Jake's brilliant "diversion"
-
I think they all did too, but some fans can think that maybe they didn't all go, so some may have survived. it's all part of the suckiness of the last two books. Some people just label everything about the Kelbrid and One under discontinuity and ignore it.
-
They all died in the "diversion"... but if you want to think that some survived, you've got to deal with the fact that they were completely forgotten after the war...
That, and the fact that there is absolutely no mention of them at all after that... Like, where was the potentially gripping and emotional scene of Jake explaining to the family members of the AAs what they really did, and how they really died??? I don't think they were given their due... >:(
-
I don't think you need to put diversion in parenthises. It did act as a diversion, and I think putting something between "" means it's something that it isn't. Like saying "strategic withdrawal" when it's really just running away scared. It was a diversion. It was a bad idea, but it was still a diversion.

Lets make a list of everything that wasn't mentioned in the last book.
-
Oh dang. You know there's a list of 16 loose ends that were never resolved after the series, and I even listed at least one thing that wasn't there.
What happened to Alloran after the last book? What did he do?
What about the families of the auxilaries and David? What did they think after everything?
What about Chapman's family? What did Mellissa think of her father?
What happened to Nora and Loren? Did Loren know where Tobias was, and did they keep in touch at all? Did Nora remain friends with Peter, or did she distance herself from him after Eva returned?
What happened to Myrtil? Did he move in with Marco? Did Marco ever visit him? Did he ever get a prosthetic blade?
Just off the top of my head.
-
Seriously... That's a long, depressing, fan-fiction begging list...
-
There are so many problems with the ending that I'm surprised the fanbase didn't put the whole thing under discontinuity.
-
I think that I may have, at this point... *sigh* :-\
