Most of you know that I run the Hirac Delest Animorphs Archive, so I'll cut right to the point. The website turned One Year Old today, and as part of the special event, I'm unveiling K.A. Applegate's First-Ever Video Webcast, which has been lost and unavailable since the series ended, until today. It was broadcast in 1999 as part of the Y2K campaign, so a lot of you newer fans have probably never seen this before.
Check it out at: http://www.hiracdelest.com/database/articles/kaa_webcast-full.htm

Comments on the blog would be appreciated :)
< And karma applauds over there, haha ;)

Which browser were you using? I've used it with Internet Explorer across several computers and have had no problems at all. Make sure you have Real Player (get the newest one if you can). Close the browser and reopen it (hit refresh a few times on the page) and see if it works. If you're seeing something that says "connecting" then just be patient, it usually just takes a few seconds to load depending on your connection.
If you're not getting anything (like a black box, or just audio), then try downloading the zip file I've linked on there. Extract it (don't just run it from the zip file) and open up webcast.smi in Real Player. There's no reason it shouldn't work. These files were specifically made by Scholastic themselves to work on Real Player.
Let me know what's going. Thanks. :)

Awesome, hehehe...she's totally cracking up. Priceless.
-
K.A. is a very VERY shy person. I never get tired of her loosing her composure like that in front of the camera, haha.
-
Awesome! Thanks man! You are the shiznit, Truth!!
That was just awesome. haha I loved it.
-
I like the new look Is.
-
Awesome!

I like the new look Is.
Thanks man. I was wondering if I made the right decision for a second, but it's definitely growing on me. Knowing how I am though, I'll probably end up changing it all over again :P

Truth, could you be so kind as to repost this link? The destination has changed, making it hard for me to find. It's not in the audio or video section of your site. It's an outstanding site, btw.

Yeah I had trouble finding it the first time around.
-
it dont work for me. I clicked the thing and it said "Hirac De...something has moved. so I click on the new site and it takes me to wherever it moved to, not KA's video"

Thanks Rich!
*watching now*

LOL she said she could get the kids to do it better and he did! Also, lol the cat running in front of the camera. Thanks for the new link Richard (Hi, nice to meet you)
-
Was she really cracking up? Seemed kinda fake lol.
Then the kid nailed it. Did she do more of these or just the one?
-
Thanks for posting the link Richard. It's under Database > Articles & Interviews, if anyone is trying to find it while surfing the site on their own. It's also under the Video section as well :)
And Russell, yes, she really was laughing -- most likely from being so nervous. You have to remember that K.A never really did any interviews. She's a very shy and closed off person, even now. And no, this is the only video she ever did for Animorphs. She also made another one for her other book 'Home of the Brave'. I have it set aside. If you guys are patient, I'll upload it to Hirac Delest soon. :)
-
Alrighty, I've uploaded her second video on Hirac Delest. You can see all videos here:
http://www.hiracdelest.com/downloads/full-video.htm
Also, if you wish to direct folks to the Animorphs Webcast, then please use this link (because this one has the header on top):

I've also changed the link for this on the first post.
-
Thanks a lot Truth!
-
um, any way we can watch this without real player?
i don't use that, and don't feel like installing it just to watch this video.
-
Nope, sorry. As it says on the page, it's in SMI format. That was the format which the webcast was made in, and real player is the only application that I've found that works for it. So you have to download it if you want to see it.
I've attempted converting it to another format, such as flv, but I haven't had any luck so far. It's a presentational format where separate files are aligned with specific x/y co-ordinates, so no traditional means of file conversion will work here. Screen capturing failed as well. :-\
-
dang. well, i'll look on youtube or something.
-
It's not on Youtube. This is the only place online to watch it, lol. ;)
-
I converted it. not exactly the same, but good enough for me...
-
How did you do??
I really hate RealPlayer. I told it not to read all my videos and... of course it changed all my options to make all my videos open with it!
On the first video... well... she seems to have problem with video cameras ^^' or with her cat... :P
-
well I converted each part and just combined them together... it's kinda ok until it gets to the interview part, but better than nothing if you ask me...
