Myself and a friend are doing a podcast tonight where we'll be discussing Animorphs and Goosebumps and we're looking for another person to join us, so if you're interested, and you have Skype, just let me know. It'll pretty much be a first-come-first serve basis. The exact time that we'll be recording is unknown cause I have to go out in a bit for awhile and it won't be until after I get home from that, but it will be tonight sometime.
Also, does anyone know how to record off skype? When I was making podcasts last year we used a different program but there was a noticeable lag between when someone would talk and when someone would receive it, so we were constantly talking over each other and it was a mess, but now we're using skype.
The episode itself should be up to download by the weekend hopefully.

I would think you could use audacity to record while talking on skype. I'd offer to join, but I'd suck at it. :P

I thought Audicity as well, but when I tested it out, I couldn't get it to record both from my MIC as well as audio on the computer, only one or the other.

ooh, that sounds like fun. i can't wait to hear it. :)
here's how you use audacity to do it:
(1) SET UP AUDACITY
Run Audacity; Go to File -> Preferences -> Digital I/O -> Recording and choose a “Digital Audio”-class device rather than an “Input”-class device (which will replace microphone input with combined microphone and speaker recording); choose to record two channels of stereo; finally, close Preferences, and choose “Wave Out Mix” as the source of signal on the main window of Audacity;
(2) SET UP THE SOUND DRIVER
Go to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Volume -> Advanced and make sure the microphone is not muted; you may also want to click on “Advanced” settings for the microphone and check “MIC Boost” to amplify your voice.
(On Vista, like me, you'll need to go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Sound\Recording\Microphone\Properties\Levels)
(3) USE AUDACITY AND SKYPE
During a conversation, you can start recording in Audacity at any point (big red button :) ); Audacity allows to export recordings in WAV, MP3, and OGG formats; for MP3s, you will need lame_enc.dll (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3)
don't underestimate audacity ;)

I don't have 90% of those options you just mentioned.

what are your options? could you send me a screenshot of preferences - audio I/O?
click on the different options so i can see them.
it's different for different computers.
is your stereo mix enabled?
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Sound\Recording\ (right click 'show disabled devices')\ (right click Stereo Mix and enable)
it'll allow you to record from your speaker.

Also, I don't have Wave Out Mix, only Stereo Mix which records audio form my computer, but not my MIC.

do you have a mic plugged in?

Yeah, it works when my Source of Signal is Mic Volume.

There is a program that comes with Skype I can use, but it only records 15 minutes at a time, so I'll keep having to make sure I press Record every 15 minutes.

You can download it there. We experienced on-again/off-again technical difficulties during it, and this morning I had to completely re-record the last 3-5 minutes cause for some reason it didn't record my voice last night for that bit, only Mike's.
Also, during our Animorphs segment, be on the look out for when a surprise guest from RAF pops in to chat for a bit with us!

holy crap! just got to the point where you were talking about the dramatizations of the books. I would probably have to get equipment (you would probably have to tell me what on that) but you can count me in for it.

I can't even start the download, it just says that the download is temporarily unavailable. I get this message every time I go to the page, and refreshing/reloading doesn't do anything either.

Nope, I'm not in school anymore. I just tried it right now though, and it (finally) seems to be working. Downloading now. :)
