Anyone familiar with the Myers-Briggs personality types? The MBTI is a personality assessment that gives you a four-letter combination like ISTJ or ENTP to describe your personality type, out of sixteen possibilities.

An MBTI app on Facebook was popular with some of my friends recently, and I found that it was fun to try to guess what four-letter combination they'd get before I looked at their results. So, why not try the same thing with the Animorphs?
After familiarizing yourself with the MBTI system, write what you think each of the Animorphs would get for results.
To get this started:
Cassie: INFJ (Protector/Counsellor)
This description of an INFJ (http://everything2.com/title/INFJ) seems to nail down a lot of Cassie's characteristics:
They respect and believe in their instincts and intuition and will make decisions based on these. If the person is particularly tuned into their abilities, they are capable of such insight that borders on psychic ability. They have a connection with others that is uncanny.
They will often be unable to give others the reasoning or details behind what they know. This can be frustrating for them only because it can be so for others. In fact, this type is not so much unconcerned with details but rather uninspired by them.
Despite their complex inner worlds and selectiveness over friends, as humanitarians they are warm and deeply concerned about others. Their unique intuitive ability naturally extends to profound empathy. While many people need to have experienced a situation to understand another person's feelings, an INFJ does not.
They seek to understand themselves and others. They are usually the peacemakers in conflict and in a team, work well as observers of group dynamics. They sense people's intentions and motives and experience usually proves them correct.
INFJs have a tendency to believe that they are always right, yet they are never arrogant with their insight. However, as they are so often proven correct they can be quite stubborn.
They are impatient with details and careless with facts. Seeing only the bigger picture, they can act impulsively without appreciating the real consequences

Hmn, I am an INTP... Or my own self perception is that of INTP.

I went through this page (http://www.personalitypage.com/four-prefs.html) trying to figure out which letters to apply to Cassie one by one. It seemed obvious she was both N and F, so then I read the summaries (http://everything2.com/title/summary%2520of%2520MBTI%2520types) of the NF types until I found the one that seemed to apply the best. Upon reading the full description, it seemed to perfectly describe Cassie.
So, for Marco I can start by determining that he's got the letters ST. Then looking at the four options that include the letters ST, I pick the one that seems to apply: ESTP, the Doer/Promoter (http://www.personalitypage.com/ESTP.html). (Which happens to be the polar opposite of my assessment of Cassie.)
ESTPs are outgoing, straight-shooting types. Enthusiastic and excitable, ESTPs are "doers" who live in the world of action. Blunt, straight-forward risk-takers, they are willing to plunge right into things and get their hands dirty. They live in the here-and-now, and place little importance on introspection or theory. The look at the facts of a situation, quickly decide what should be done, execute the action, and move on to the next thing.
ESTPs have an uncanny ability to perceive people's attitudes and motivations. They pick up on little cues which go completely unnoticed by most other types, such as facial expressions and stance. They're typically a couple of steps ahead of the person they're interacting with. ESTPs use this ability to get what they want out of a situation. Rules and laws are seen as guidelines for behavior, rather than mandates. If the ESTP has decided that something needs to be done, then their "do it and get on with it" attitude takes precendence over the rules. However, the ESTP tends to have their own strong belief in what's right and what's wrong, and will doggedly stick to their principles. The Rules of the Establishment may hold little value to the ESTP, but their own integrity mandates that they will not under any circumstances do something which they feel to be wrong.
ESTPs have a strong flair for drama and style. They're fast-moving, fast-talking people who have an appreciation for the finer things in life. They may be gamblers or spendthrifts. They're usually very good at story telling and improvising. They typically makes things up as they go along, rather than following a plan. They love to have fun, and are fun people to be around. They can sometimes be hurtful to others without being aware of it, as they generally do not know and may not care about the effect their words have on others. It's not that they don't care about people, it's that their decision-making process does not involve taking people's feelings into account. They make decisions based on facts and logic.

I've actually been thinking about this lately so it was kinda cool that someone already made this thread. We the MBTI in one of my classes last week and just got the results (I'm an INFJ). I was thinking about what I thought the Animorphs might be so here it is:
- Jake: INTJ, little unsure about whether he'd be a T or a J, but after reading about INTJ I think he would be T.
"Independent, original, analytical, and determined. Have an exceptional ability to turn theories into solid plans of action. Highly value knowledge, competence, and structure. Driven to derive meaning from their visions. Long-range thinkers. Have very high standards for their performance, and the performance of others. Natural leaders, but will follow if they trust existing leaders"
- Rachel: ESTP
"Friendly, adaptable, action-oriented. 'Doers' who are focused on immediate results. Living in the here-and-now, they're risk-takers who live fast-paced lifestyles. Impatient with long explanations. Extremely loyal to their peers, but not usually respectful of laws and rules if they get in the way of getting things done. Great people skills."
In my packet from class it also says ESTPs enjoy style. - Tobias: INFP. I also thought he might be an ISFP. INFP
"Quiet, reflective, and idealistic. Interested in serving humanity. Well-developed value system, which they strive to live in accordance with. Extremely loyal. Adaptable and laid-back unless a strongly-held value is threatened. Usually talented writers. Mentally quick, and able to see possibilities. Interested in understanding and helping people."
Then for ISFP: "Quiet, serious, sensitive and kind. Do not like conflict, and not likely to do things which may generate conflict. Loyal and faithful. Extremely well-developed senses, and aesthetic appreciation for beauty. Not interested in leading or controlling others. Flexible and open-minded. Likely to be original and creative. Enjoy the present moment."
- Marco: Thinking about each trait individually I thought Marco seemed like an ESTJ which was:
"Practical, traditional, and organized. Likely to be athletic. Not interested in theory or abstraction unless they see the practical application. Have clear visions of the way things should be. Loyal and hard-working. Like to be in charge. Exceptionally capable in organizing and running activities. 'Good citizens' who value security and peaceful living."
However, after reading the description for ENTP I thought that might fit him a little better "Creative, resourceful, and intellectually quick. Good at a broad range of things. Enjoy debating issues, and may be into 'one-up-manship.' They get very excited about new ideas and projects, but may neglect the more routine aspects of life. Generally outspoken and assertive. They enjoy people and are stimulating company. Excellent ability to understand concepts and apply logic to find solutions."
- Cassie: I agree with her being an INFJ. Everything about her in the books scream out all those traits.
- Ax: As I'm iffy about but in terms of individual traits I was thinking ISTJ.
"Serious and quiet, interested in security and peaceful living. Extremely thorough, responsible, and dependable. Well-developed powers of concentration. Usually interested in supporting and promoting traditions and establishments. Well-organized and hard working, they work steadily towards identified goals. They can usually accomplish any task once they have set their mind to it."
Obviously I'm bored and had some time to think about this :p I guess it could explain why Marco and Rachel always agreed on most of the big issues together and how Cassie and Tobias were so similar etc. etc. Some of the personality type descriptive titles didn't exactly fit though. For example, Jake's, INTJ, is "The Scientist" so I dunno. Although most of the others fit. Ax was "The Duty Fulfiller" haha.

I would have seen Rachel more like xxxJ than a P.
She appears to be quick to make decisions and she tends to have quite organized plans (like those shopping expeditions >_<) and she is not that rule averse (she easily obeys to Jake).
As for Marco, I could never see him as a J. Waaaay too laid back, hyper flexible (last minute guy), and he kind of follows his own rules. ENTP doesn't seem to fit him that poorly.
As for INTJ "the scientist", sometimes that type is described as the "strategist". So there :P

This is a fun thread. :) Most of 11:11's suggestions seem to fit relatively well. I'm an INTJ (sometimes an INTP), and though I never considered myself to be all that similar to Jake, it still fits him well - except the I part. Do you guys think Jake's really more introverted than extroverted? I think maybe the war made him that way, but I'm not sure it'd be his default personality at all. I see Jake as more of an ENTJ or an ESTJ. I agree that Rachel should be a J rather than a P.

ENTJs are natural born leaders. They live in a world of possibilities where they see all sorts challenges to be surmounted, and they want to be the ones responsible for surmounting them. They have a drive for leadership, which is well-served by their quickness to grasp complexities, their ability to absorb a large amount of impersonal information, and their quick and decisive judgments. They are "take charge" people.

ISTPs are excellent in a crisis situations. They're usually good athletes, and have very good hand-eye coordination. They are good at following through with a project, and tying up loose ends. They usually don't have much trouble with school, because they are introverts who can think logically. They are usually patient individuals, although they may be prone to occasional emotional outbursts due to their inattention to their own feelings.

ENTPs are fluent conversationalists, mentally quick, and enjoy verbal sparring with others. They love to debate issues, and may even switch sides sometimes just for the love of the debate. When they express their underlying principles, however, they may feel awkward and speak abruptly and intensely.
After reading the replies, I really like INTJ for Jake. I wouldn't have thought of him as an introvert, but the INTJ description fits him really well. ESTP for Rachel is actually the one I'm most sure about. None of the others really fit her, and ESTP fits really well. I didn't even consider Ax for some reason (maybe because the test is intended for humans, but he's not that different mentally...) After reading over the types again I'm thinking ISTJ too.
And yes, this is a fun thread! I feel like such a dork, but in a good way, I promise... :P
