Um...I'm a little unsure if I should post this...but does anyone else read Animorph slash fiction? If so what pairings?
-
Slash fiction is a genre of fan fiction that focuses on the depiction of romantic or sexual relationships between characters of the same sex.
ah, i hadn't heard that term. nope, haven't read any.
based on that description, though, i'd imagine something with cassie and rachel or something.
-
Well, slash is defined as having two or more characters of the same gender in a romantic pairing. So yeah.
-
given their powers, any pairing can be a slash pairing.

or the 'same person' pairing. whatever that's called.

Despite my being a slash/femslash fan, for some reason I have trouble reading Animorphs slash. A lot of it is really out of character.
I've read a couple of good Marco/Ax fics, which is one of the only few pairings that seems to work, since neither of them were paired up in the series itself. And I suppose maybe Jake/Marco could work at the end of the series, since Jake and Cassie aren't together anymore.
The only slash pairing that I actually wish there was more fanfiction of is Gafinilan/Mertil. (The two Andalites from book 40)

Consider yourself lucky, lol.
Sorry, I'm just not a big fan of any type of romantic fiction really, especially unrealistic ones (and let's face it, most slash fics are unrealistic). Still, I know some people are into that kind of thing and they have every right to write whatever they want.
Honestly I don't know if any of the Animorphs could really work in a slash fic, but that's just my opinion.

Here's the thing with any animorphs slash I've found, it generally tends to be more adult oriented and include the fact that they can morph into animals. So I'm just going leave it at that.

narcissism

I've never read a fic with them morphing into animals...
I'm unsure what you mean by slash being unrealistic, then again, I'm pretty picky. If any of the characters are OOC, I tend to stop reading.

Yeah that's pretty much what I mean. I'm not interested in slash fics, but they often seem to have pairings that would never happen.

Ah yeah I guess so, I only read pairings that make sense.

like which two?
-
Oh, well, the pairings from other series I read make sense cause the characters have some kind of chemistry
Like Nick Stokes and Greg Sanders from CSI
Jimmy Hopkins and Petey Kowalski from Bully
Trent and Kirby from Bully (Technically canon)
etc

I quite like a lot of slash fic, although of course it depends on the pairing. I'm really quite the romantic despite my gruff exterior ;) but I do like my romance to be within the realms of reality, so to speak (in regards to personalities involved).
Like with my other big mid-to-late-1990s-early-2000s fandom, The X Files, I'm not massivley big on slash in Animorphs, although I don't mind Marco/Ax when it's done well. In the het pairings, I really only like Elfangor/Loren and Dak/Aldrea anyway, so it's not like I find it offensive that someone is breaking up my OTP or anything. There's even a series of Tobias/Jake fics that I read a whole back on ff.net which were just awesome. But it was the writer's skill that drew me in, not the pairing, if that makes sense.
The only real Animorphs slash pairing that I'd read based on the pairing is Gafinilan/Mertil, but I've never seen fic based on them, sadly. Anyone know where there is some posted? ;)

The Ax/Marco fics are really cute, aren't they? But sorry, I only know of ff.net for ani-slash. Sorry.

Word to the people who said that Ani slash tends to include the animal-morphing abilities. I am an avid slash reader (albeit not in this fandom), but animal sex makes me feel icky, and I just can't read it. Dude, I read one on ffn where Jake's tiger penis was creating erotic sensations for Cassie with its barbs. I don't know how that was in any way sexy; I just winced and had that image permanently engraved into my mind. And now yours, because really, that bears sharing.
As for pairings, I can see the whole sleepover make-out between Cassie and Rachel. I actually think some development could be done with hurt/comfort and Marco/Jake...with Marco falling apart and Jake needing to be stoic. I kind of see that around the beginning of the series--even before the series--and more of a role reversal during the end. I really like the idea of Jake feeling the need to provide extra emotional support for his best friend but remaining untouched and distant through it all, because he's not getting anything out of it.
I also like Marco/Ax. It can be really cute.
I've seen a lot of Jake/Tobias fanfics lying around and I've never really seen that pairing in my head. Mostly because RACHEL/TOBIAS FTWKTHX. It's hard for me to imagine Tobias thinking sexually about anyone else.
I saw a good post-54 piece where Cassie morphed Rachel and had sex with Tobias. Not slash, but unconventional and very dark.
That said, I really don't like Animorphs slash. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that relationships were not the main focus of this series. Rachel and Tobias are the best pairing ever and it's hard for most fans, it seems, to see them with anyone else. Jake and Cassie were also very canon and...stable? So we're left with these two relationships that developed in a war and really...mean a lot to a lot of readers. Playing around with slash or unconventional pairings is given very little room here, because 2/3 of our main characters are already involved, the majority of minor characters are evil or androids (whoa sex with androids). It's hard to break up--or justify cheating--when that's really not a plot point _at all_.
Even though Rachel has great chemistry with Marco, she'd never cheat on Tobias.
Tobias is madly in love with Rachel.
Cassie wouldn't go for Marco (ah!) or Ax, has no chance with Tobias and maybe could fool around with Rachel. Maybe.
In general, Animorphs is not very slashable. I read my BtVS/AtS slash by the truckload; those types of shows are perfect for that kind of thing. Animorphs is not set up so that there are valid alternate parings. (Unless you're in MM4, where Rachel dated Marco and that was WONDERFUL.)
-
Oh wonderful, I have a pulled muscle, feeling sick AND have a horrible tiger penis related image in my head.
And yes Marco/Ax is just...so adorable. One of my favorites involves Marco teaching Ax about cookies.
I always assumed that the androids would be more or less "flesh" feeling when touched.
And as for Buffy, the creator said Angel/Spike slash is kinda canon, I kid you not.
-
So as I was reading this thread, I came to realize something. Animorphs is a giant wingfic.
-
Okay.
Well, I was cheering for Marco and Jake the whole time. Wrote a few "slashes" (I called them yaois) about them. It is really hard to do it IC, I managed one really good one. To bad I lost it v_v;
I also had one that I started. Ax and Tobias. But they Bladie-chan told me something that would make it illegal.
='[ I was sad.
Meh. VOCALOID is better though. No one is really related so it really is free picking. (the Shions do not count...but that does not stop people v_v; )

I think I still remember that!
