November 25, 198?
Is it even in November?
I Googled it and couldn't find an answer.
Thanks in advance.
-
I think it is February. It is 1983 I think though, cause Jake is 13 in the beginning and since The Invasion came out in 1996 I always thought that was when it started. Someone needs to do an exact timeline of the series.
-
That reminds me. Someone has. I've seen it somewhere.
What's going on with the audio books?
-
I remember something like that too. Or I think I do.
-
I don't know the month, but I believe it was on the 22nd or 23rd in #23
-
Yeah number 23 is a great place to look. I wouldnt feel to bad you forgot though, he did as well. :P
I wonder if that was his 14th birthday in number 23.
-
i know he said it was around or between the 23-26th range. while the month was never said, i always pictured him as a November kind of guy. i don't know why, but i can't picture Tobias being born in any month but November
-
Cause hes so sad and November is the saddest month :P
-
Remembering the last time he mentioned the dry season could help narrow it down.
-
Good point. I always thought of him having a spring birthday. Does anyone remember the weather in number 23? I remember it being pretty nice or not-bad.
Of course this doesnt narrow things down in california.

Found that. May be helpful. Here's a quote from it:
25th - Tobias' birthday. Wednesday. #23 p111 to p154.
I took the days and matched them up to a month in 1996 to 2001. They correspond to: Sept 96, Dec 96, June 97, Feb 98, Mar 98, Aug 99, Oct 00, Apr 01 and July 01. Since Buffy (which was on David's television) didn't start until 1997, we can knock off the first two. School wouldn't be during the summer, so what we've got left: June 1997, February 1998, March 1998, October 2000, April 2001. I'll update this when we get more proof.
-
who said they're in the year 1997?
-
Cause the series started in 1996.
-
this is pretty interesting, i wonder if we could find all their birthdays
-
That would be pretty difficult. I don't remember anyone else ever mentioning their birthdays, or getting older at all even, aside from when they talk about how the war was three years long, etc.
-
Yeah, no one celebrated their birthdays.
-
Cause the series started in 1996.
there's no rule that says the year the characters are in is the current year...
-
Also events occur in the books that sink up with current events. Pop culture references.

??? coincidence?
-
I really don't think all those cultural references are coincidental. I always assumed the books were set in present day to when they started.
-
but the war only lasted 3 years. the books lasted 5 years...
-
Present day more or less. Not exactly, obviously.
Here's an interesting tidbit, though.
In #35 Marco is said to be playing Playstation with his dad. According to Wikipedia the Playstation was not put out until the year 2000. According to Amazon.com #35 was published in November, 1999.
Hmmmm....
-
Hmm indeed. Maybe Animorphs is set "ten minutes into the future", as tropes and idioms puts it.
-
Why would it be that way?
-
I'm not sure. I'll have to read up on that again.
Edit: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture
There's the page, though it doesn't seem to say much about why people do this, instead of just putting it in present day.
-
nah, the Harry Potter rules apply to Animorphs. Year first book published = Year one at hogwarts, and each successive book is one year later in the continuity no matter how many years it took to get published. Like LOST, and God is it a **** to figure out what year it is in that show too.
-
forget the show it sucked the actors were too old plus no taxxons the andalites were too hairy the dracon beams were flashlights shall i continue lol
-
please do. let me add:
Tobias (Christopher Ralph) had BROWN hair!!
That's the main thing. But I still don't like how the episodes were all mixed up, and they missed stuff, and added stuff, and... you get the picture
-
I always figured it was sometime in the Fall. Something told me it was October, but that might have been due to the fact that I was reading book 23 in October. My birthday is also in October, so naturally I would think my favourite character's birthday was the same as my birthday month.
