I definitely agree with the general and life board merging, cause the distinction is kinda arbitrary and it seemed to be causing alot of unnecessary work for the staff
But I still think fan fiction deserves its own board, or at least should be merged back with the animorphs fan fiction. Since the General is so big now itll be really easy to lose good stories and it will be really hard to sort through all the random threads to actually find any of the fictions

Yeah, I don't agree with the removing of the Fanfiction board AT ALL.
Sometimes I like to go find a good Fic to read, and its WAY easier when they're not muddled up with regular posts, cause now nobody will know what's a fanfic/story and what's just a regular post.
Getting rid of the Life board was fine, but I have to 100% disagree with this new change.

would it be possible to have the general fan-fic and the ani fan-fic on one section? like in a fan-fic and RP section, containing all the ani fan-fic, non ani fan-fic and all the RP's?

I have to agree with the people disagreeing with the change. :P
My One Big Reason: Any ongoing fan-fictions and RPG's are now almost guaranteed to be interrupted by people that think they're discussion threads. I've already had that happen when the distinction was comparatively clear between boards, and it pretty much threw off my whole thread. :-\

Whose idea was this? Seriously, we need a general fanfic board. I've already voiced my opinions about having fanfic as a sub-board of roleplays or vice versa (and for those of you who didn't read that particular post, my opinion was that I didn't like it), and this is way, way worse. Please please please change it back?

General Fanfics should have gon in a sub folder in the general board... otherwise they will be beried and noone will ever see them.......... :'(

Yeah, now its pretty much guaranteed that nobody will ever read a non-Animorphs fic on this site anymore, so what's the point in even writing them anymore?

I may be the minority, but I still completely disagree with merging the boards. They are separate entities, and should remain so.
I'd also like to take this oppurtunity to restate my opinions on the Media Board: it shouldn't exist. There should be a Movies Board, and a Music Board, maybe a Television Board, though that one is optional. u_u

You had a respectable opinion until you talked about cutting the media board three ways. Its pretty much the least active general board as is, it doesnt really get that cluttered
and life and general are seperate entities, but nobody knows that lol half the posts in there are "I'm not really sure what board this should go in, if its wrong could you move it?" which would really get annoying as staff

I agree with merging life and general (Although it's kind of easy to tell the difference now that I've been here a while).
But, it makes zero logic to merge the fanfic board with the general board!
I don't even read fan fics most of the time, but Jeeze these people worked hard on these things, and now they are buried under an entire GENERAL board!

I think the Media Board should either be its own board or a child board of General. I don't like the idea of segregating movies, music, etc.
I also don't agree with having fanfic in General, but that doesn't affect me as I don't read those ^^;

The Media Board isn't active enough to need sub-sections. I know General Fanfiction wasn't hugely active either, but that's because people tend to take a while between story updates, which is why we need a board for it as people won't be able to find their story threads in General.
Richard has agreed to bring back the General Fanfiction Board, which will hopefully be appearing again later today. We will then need to move all the old threads back, so PM me with the name of your story (and preferably the link) so I can move them back.

They really don't need to be. That being said, I think it does make that category look more tidy.

Yeah I don't actually like it now.. but I'm sure I'll get used to it, I mean.. I hated new RAF for ages, but it grew on me for sure.

Yea I guess I don't agree that they are the same category. They both have the word general in them, aside from that there isn't really any similarities. Alot of the people who visit the general board don't use the other two at all and vice versa.
But like Claire said, maybe it will just take some getting used to. I definitely see your reasoning on it, you don't want the general section so large that it overshadows the Animorphs section and all that good stuff.

To me it seems weird that General RPs and fanfic are child boards of General Board, but Animorphs RPs and fanfic are not child boards of Animorphs Board.
But I'm a little obsessive about symmetry and all that, so. :P

See, now that there's just the General Board, I can't find any of the Life threads because The number of threads has like doubled!! The number of threads has like doubled!!

I disagree with Tyler about more threads = harder to find threads.
Not only can you expand the amount of threads you see on a given page, but the search feature (the white box at the top right) is fast and reliable.
