I had an idea, and I'm leaving it loose because I don't plan to go anywhere with it, but I thought it was cool.
What would happen if the One is very similar to Father from Ellimist Chronicles, except instead of assimilating bodies and everything, just minds and thoughts, and Jake becomes to The One what Toomin was to Father, and it advances similarly. How would Jake handle it, assuming he escapes in a manner like the Ellimist? If he made a ship to go around the Universe to do good (or evil), how would Crayak and Ellimist interfere, if they did at all? How would Crayak and Ellimist react if a third joined their ranks, except he wasn't bound by the rules of their game? It could be interesting how he would try to change history, and its consequences.
I know it's pretty far-fetched... but why not? I figured the idea did little if I just threw it in the back of my head in the "Random Junk" box.

Sounds like a fanfiction....you don't write, by any chance? I'd love to see that idea developed. :)

I honestly don't have the time. I actually originally put it in the fanfiction board with the hope someone would continue with it, but it was moved here.

Otherwise, though. It sounds like a kind of cool idea, albeit a bit creepy to think about. Jake is such a well defined and well-known character, seeing him 'combined' in that way kind of creeps me out.
Essentially, if your idea played out, Jake would be taking on the consciousnesses of the other Ani's. A very creepy thought.

Yeah, I thought about that. I also figured a major conflict would be saving Rachel; it would mess up the whole timeline of The One. Also Cassie, because she was not assimilated; what would Jake do?

Obviously Jake's initial reaction would be to protect Cassie. I would think that a number of his initial actions would take place far from Earth, in order to spare her any involvement. If he was forced to Earth for one reason or another he would do what he could to spare her involvement. Once she was involved, though, I don't know how it would go.

...Which is why it seems interesting in my head, so many avenues for it, as well as things to be covered; what would he say to Crayak and Ellimist now that they are equals, as well as having his friends' thoughts in his head. I think this would be fairly long if it were written, but that's probably only because its so enormously far-fetched.

How could the Ellimist not interfere? Of course he would be there. At least, I believe he would.
