I say this cause wiki alleges that she mentions having a niece in 37.
-
i'm guessing she has an older sibling or an older cousin who has children
-
KASU.
She's an only child, like Marco and Tobias. It's just like the Hork-Bajir war-clock, just a random brain-fart that's never mentioned again. The ghost-writers messed up some of the parent's names and stuff too, there are lots of little things like that throughout.
-
Not necessarily a KASU. I consider my cousin's kids as my nieces and nefews, even if they really aren't. It could be something similar to that with Cassie.
-
Yeah, sorry. You're right. I guess I meant it in the literal sense of, no, she doesn't have an older brother or sister.
-
I remember picking up on this as well...she said not to destory the blues clues merchandise because her niece loves him, but in another book it says only child.
Oh well, mistakes happen.
-
God! I didnt notice this until now but half the Animorphs are only children lol thts very uncommon to see an only child thts over 10 years old(at least it is where im from)
-
Whoa! Maybe it all IS real, it's just taking place in China! That explains the only child thing. Maybe Jake is really Liu-Kim!
-
I'm pretty sure she was an only child.
I don't think her parents would have time for more than one child along with the zoo and everything, haha.
-
lol well by the looks of things, Cassie did most of the work around the barn so im sure they woulda had time to get their freak on and pop out another little tree hugger

O_o Excuse-me, but where are you from?

The US LOL on the east side to be exact. but yea I dont know a lot of ppl tht r over 10 and dont have any brothers or sisters
-
East saaiiii--iiiiiddddee.
-
not a literal niece, at least.
definitely an only child.

 what does china have to do with being an only child?
-
Isn't there an only child policy? Or am I just batshiz crazy loco again? I could be thinking of somewhere else.
-
hmm... there could be, what with its population, but I haven't heard of it...
-
Pretty sure there is. Or it's a "one child, unless you have a girl, then try again" policy. Eek. It's not exactly equality-based.
-
Yeah, a lot of ppl associate only child syndrome with China
-
Syndrome? Sounds like a disease. :P
-
It would have been mentioned if she had a sibling, even an older one who'd left home already, so she clearly doesn't have a brother or sister. However, as some of you have already said, she most likely had a cousin with children.
-
I never thought she had any siblings.
-
If she did, I think it would be mentioned more than in passing before book 37.
I don't remember if we find out Rachel has sisters in her first book, but it wasn't long before we did find out.
-
It's probably a cousin's child or whatever but the kid and indeed her mother or father might be a bit of information Cassie kept hidden from "her" readers, much like the location of the One Ring . . . that's right, I know she knows where it is . . .
Anyway by what stretch of the imagination (of the Animorphs that is) would it be impossible for a Controller to find one of their books? The less factual details they share about themselves the better so if Cassie claims to be an only child whilst having an older sibling who's moved away any search of "only children" the Yeerks do would skip over her. That it's mentioned in passing even supports the theory that it's a secret and someone just screwed up their narrative and forgot to leave that particular comment out.
This couldn't be done with Jake since Tom was a controller, and as for Rachel, well the books and TV series seem to disagree about just how many sisters she has (two in the books but I only ever remember one in the show) for all we know she might have had more sisters, or a few brothers, some of them might even have lived with her father.
As for Tobias, well I'd buy that he's an only child, and Marco . . . well even though his mother was only missing for two years it's not clear how long before that Visser One had control of her, I doubt Visser One was looking to have more children.
So while it's definately either a KASU or just some cousin's child, it's more fun to pretend Cassie was being secretive.
-
Her saying the word cousin would have been much better, though. I don't know what the One Ring is.
-
JFalcon, you conspirator bastard. ;D Cassie to Mt. Doom!
-

In regards to the first sentence, that's just how close some families are, who can explain it?
In regards to the second sentence, it's a Lord of the Rings reference, The One Ring being what the whole series centers around (it having the power to destroy the world or something on top of turning people invisible, which is just awesome) and its location is a closely guarded secret.
I am implying, nay accusing that Cassie knows its location. ;)

I think, therefore no KA screws up. ITTNKASU.
Wow I'm tired.
