Title: Should Posts in General Role Playing Count?
Post by: Horsefan1023 (Seal) on February 13, 2009, 07:44:06 PM
We were talking about this in RAFchat.  Some people (I'm not gonna point fingers) are spamming in the General RPG board.  This is just a suggestion, you can lock it if you want, Richard, but I used to do that too, and it unfairly shot my post count way up.  So, tell me what you think.

i think they should, and the particular spammers should be dealt with.
just because somebody is ruining the thread doesn't mean that everybody should be punished.
i didn't vote for the last one, because it could be a hindrance to some people who are posting legit.

so yes.

Yeah, "no" means it shouldn't count.  You can change it though.

I think the last one, because if someone just suddenly posts and it doesn't make any sense, that shouldn't count.  Like, if they only posted a smiley, or said one word (again, I will not point fingers, though I could) I don't think it should.  One RAFian is a senior member already, and he didn't join up to long ago.  I think most of his posts are in the General RP.

People spam in all the boards.  And as you can't exactly make none of the boards add to your post count, I think the better solution is just to target the specific offenders.

I don't have a problem with posting a one-word reply or something OT every once in a while, but if someone is always posting just for the sake of posting even if they have nothing to say, then I think something needs to be done about it.

One person keeps going into date threads and just posting "love." It doesn't make any sense.

I completely agree. The posts in that board should definitely count, but we should keep a closer eye out for spammers in that board and discourage them from doing it. We shouldn't let the actions of a few spoil it for the rest of us.

Yeah I agree with Goom and Mike.

They should count.

I know this is kind of old, but I don't think they should count if The Bored Board doesn't count.

If you feel like people are unfairly spamming posts then report it.

On a side point, posts don't equal status.
