Okay, there's something that's been bothering me since forever. I just can't take it anymore!
From book #22:
<Jake, Tobias, and I watched and waited outside Cassie's barn. As you know, Jake suspected David might have decided to turn against us.>
"That weasel! That slimy nyeeerrrrrff."
My tongue had shrunk rapidly in the middle of telling Ax what I thought about David. Probably for the best. Ax would have asked me to define the word I was about to use, and that wouldn't have been a good idea.
What I want to know is, what the heck was Rachel trying to say that would have been mispronounced 'nyeeerrrrrff' by her morphing tongue? I can't think of a single swear word that even comes close, and I've got a pretty big vocabulary.
P.S. I apologize if this has been discussed before.
Last note: if a word you want to suggest is particularly offensive, put it in a spoiler so that easily offended people don't have to see it. Or maybe just give me hints. Or do both, even; put the hints in a spoiler. I only want to satisfy my curiousity, not start any riots, 'k?

well it kinda seems like 'yeerk' but that wouldn't work coz she wouldn't have to explain to Ax.
Um..maybe it's not supposed to sound like anything, just a swear word in general?
-
Lol it could be anything, who knows lol :P
-
I always presumed it was 'Yeerk'. *shrug*
-
yeerk was what i always thought.

i figured it was dick or ****, yeerk wouldn't make sense since ax does not need a definition

Oh!!!!
:o
Umn... mother*beep*er. M becomes N on a nasal. As the mouth stretches, the vowel becomes E, and the F is audible.
-
highly possible, but it doesn't seem a little short to be that?
-
Ningleberry?
??? Other made-up funny-sounding word?
-
Yeah, "Yeerk" was always the only thing I could think of that it might be, but I knew that couldn't be right.

Estelore, you might be right. And, goom, the reason it seems too short to be that might be because Rachel stopped talking when she realized her mouth was changing? I dunno.

Hmm, Rachel doesn't strike me as the sort of person who would make up words when she gets angry.

Psh. Rachel doesn't get angry. Rachel gets stabby.
