I've always wondered this:
Since kandrona is mentioned as a ray, wouldn't it be possible to create an anti-Kandrona? As long as the frequency of wavelength of the Kandronna is known, a wave can be emitted out of phase to cancel the wave.
A second physics note, the Yeerk pool must have had wave guides (small tubes in the rock tuned for the wave) to allow Kandrona waves in from the outside. Not even gamma radiation can penetrate 50 feet of earth and rock.

I suppose its possible, but with logic you could anti sunlight too, the kandondra is there sun
even if people have that power, they (hopefully) don't use it
-
No, it would be different. Kandrona is emitted by the Yeerk's star. Its a particle with a mass I think, just high energy. All matter technically is a wave. Light is pure energy, but its also a particle it just doesn't have mass. So anti-sunlight is possible, its just not anti-sunlight its regular sunlight.
If we assume Kandrona has a mass however, the problem becomes slightly easier. If kandrona has a mass then it has to have an anti-particle that will annihilate it upon interaction. This is seen in all particles. So if Ax were to somehow able to create an anti-kandrona generator he could conceivably pump it into the yeerk pool, which concentrates kandrona and it would cancel it out making the yeerk pool into nothing more than a slushy pool of crap.

Now THAT would have been an excellent idea for a book. PRobably within the last ten or so of the series.

You know I think that kandora is like light and a wavelength since they need a kandora particle generator and it is a version of the yeerks own sun. Practically that kandora particles are an ion or isotope of something because the yeerk pool has concentrated amounts of kandora. However, it is also mentioned that a kandora would turn the water on earth into a practical pool for yeerks so kandora seems more likley to be a wavelength on the electromagnetic spectrum that reacts with water to create a yeerk pool.
A second physics note, the Yeerk pool must have had wave guides (small tubes in the rock tuned for the wave) to allow Kandrona waves in from the outside. Not even gamma radiation can penetrate 50 feet of earth and rock.
but what if they just had a filter that recharges water when it reaches the generator?

I wonder if all bodies of water on the Yeerk homeworld can be used as pools? They probably don't swim in very large water due to possible predators. I always imagined them living primarily in swamplands.

The sun emits all wavelengths of energy so Kandrona would be present in our sun. Its probably some weird particle that is emitted from the Yeerk Star's fusion process. Also remember the pool is unnecessary, it just concentrates Kandrona. In the case with the moon, it would become a micro version of the yeerk's sun so we can assume it would be dumping out a lot of Kandrona, enough to not need pools to concentrate it. The Yeerk's probably are conserving energy and concentrating the Kandrona in the pool rather than allowing the yeerks to just bask in it.

Guys...
What if Kandrona stuff is just irradiated natural particles?
Like if you nuke yer food and LITERALLY nuke it? It's radioactive. Useless for food, but it won't kill simple bacteria that aren't bugged by rads.
You can irradiate matter quite easily. They probably eat micro-particles and absorb the radiation contained therein.
Wave guides? It's the Yeerks. If we can use it, they have BEEN using it for a VERY long time. Woohoo, technical-genius alien species!
-
No they've been using it since the 60s.
-
You can't create an Anti-Kandrona by just canceling it out by another wave (if it is a wave), Light from our sun and probably the Yeerks sun is not emitted in phase so there's no wavelength that will cancel it out. If it first had to be polarized then you could find a canceling wavelength, but if it's just "sunlight" then there's no way.

I think ax mentioned in book 4 that the yeerk homeworld doesn't have large bodies of water. only shallow pools.
-
Oh. I wonder how that works.

they should've just gotten more oatmeal. pour enough of that in the pool... ;)

Ahahahahahaahah! I concur, dude!
What an interesting idea, this anti-Kandrona concept!
I get lost in all the scientific specifcs, but it is certainly something the highly advanced Andalites would have achieved if it could have been done. Particularly at the end of the series, I agree, where the war had been going on for so long.
-
Gafrash, how can you say it's interesting!!!? It's horrible!
Guys, don't think about it, it's a bad idea. And it'd be too difficult to make a so big anti-Kandrona!
Maybe it's possible, but please don't think about it...
... I feel bad now...
-
...why not think about it?
-
Because it's dangerous for the Yeerks :donno:

I actually wondered about this before, for roleplay/fic purposes I invented a modification that fits onto a Dracon beam and eliminates Kandrona from anything it's aimed at. Because I'm just that nerdy
I was thinking more along the lines of obliterating the stored energy that Yeerks might be producing in their cells--like plants producing glucose from chloroplasts--and causing starvation (or reversing it) with an energy beam. How else can the Yeerks make Kandrona starvation last so long? I remember somewhere in Visser it was mentioned that the Council of Thirteen lives within some kind of refined stream of Kandrona that allows them to feed without leaving their hosts as often. That means it'd be passing through their host's skulls o.O; And we all think cell phones are gonna screw with people's brains...!
