what do you guys think would have happened in the series if cassie had allowed jake to kill brother during the fight in #50?
post what you think might have changed in the ending; for better or for worse?

I think she should have helped Jake capture Tom, instead of letting Jake kill him or let him get away with the cube.
Rachel most likely would have lived, and possibly the Auxilaries. Remember when Marco said they had trouble in the pool ship. There were so many enemies to get past, and who do we know that's good at barreling through enemies? Rachel being on the pool ship at the time may have helped a lot. Unfortunately, she was on the blade ship because of Tom and the cube.
I've gone though it all in the thread Cassie's Betrayal, so I may not say much more than this.

If I had been there without any knowledge of the events that followed, I would almost definitely have let Jake stop Tom, or I'd have stopped him myself. Anything to stop the Yeerkls getting hold of the morphing cube.
However, in hindsight I'd say it was a good thing that Cassie did what she did. After all, the Taxxons only sided with the Animorphs because of the morphing technology, and the cube also gave the surviving Yeerks another way to live.

estrid or nohensen (I forgot which) can disprove that.
Me? I'm not sure. I wouldn't want to let them get the blue box, but I wouldn't want jake to kill tom either. I guess I'll just let jake do what he wants and make sure nobody killed, or at least try...(and most likely fail).
Although ditto what phoenix said if I knew what was gonna happen later

Any good that came from letting Tom get the box could have been gained through other means, without any of the reprocussions. That is why what she did was wrong.
-
To be blunt cassie thought with her heart not her head. To be honest what she did was stupid and it was only by luck that everything turned out so well.
-
i think she made the wrong choice.
it cost rachel's life, and many others.

seeign as Jake was about to die, I probably would've done the same as Cassie(mostly becuz Cassie didn't really have time to think she needed to do something to save Jake) If I actually had time to think abot what I was about to do, I would've snuck up and bit Tom instead of Jake LOL to hell ih biting I probably would've killed Tom to make ure he didnt get any morphing powers from touching the cube

Rachel would've killed herself out of boredom anyway if she lived after the war

There are too many factors involved to say for sure, but honestly I think the war might have turned out much worse if Cassie hadn't done what she did, even though it appeared stupid and reckless at the time.

Blue, Jake was not about to die. It was a Human controller with a dracon beam vs a wolf and a tiger. No contest.
-
oh right I knew either Jake or tom was about to die, I gotta re read the book my bad.

I wouldn't have let Tom take the box...I'm not smart enough. xD

I don't think it was wrong, just overly impulsive. Cassie thought she was doing the right thing, and it turned out she did.
And it's true that there were other ways of acheiving the same goal, but it probably would have taken Cassie to think of them either way.

I would never. Me to Tom: Get back here you yeerk! There is no way that you are getting away with that!!!
And ill probably chase him until i could get it back

I'm quite certain it wasn't the right thing to do. It wasn't planned. The fact that some good came out of it doesn't excuse her of doing it. I'd say they won despite her letting Tom's Yeerk get away. Not because of it.

She def. did the wrong thing. Even if Jake would have been messed up because of it, it would still have been better than how it turned out, where he lost his cousin AND his brother.
