If the Animorphs hadn't become the Animorphs (and assuming that, in fact, the Yeerk Invasion either was stopped by the Andalites early on or that they didn't find the planet until after the Animorphs grew up) what do you think the adult Animorphs would have done for careers instead?

jake would be president.
marco, a stand-up comedian.
cassie would work with animals, i'm assuming.
rachel.. hm. not sure. a model?
no clue for tobias. maybe a pilot? ;)

Jake could be a teacher, or principal
Marco ...psychology? haha. or business.
cassie would definately be working with animals.
Rachel could probably be a news anchorwoman, or maybe she'd settle for business.
Tobias could probably be an author, in the army, or an RAFian.

Ax would always be in the shadow of his brother but be a good war prince

i was actually thinking along the same lines at first, but he didn't have many suicidal tendacies during the books.
being trapped in morph and all, he still survived.

with friends at the beginning he was so happy being hawk because he could now get away from his family and with the morphing powers they became his friends but in the one book (megamorph's 4 i think) he joined the sharing showing how down he really was.

In 33 and other places I think it was established that Tobias was a good artist. Also he was kinda a dinosaur expert so paleontologist? And how did I know this would become a Tobias debate?

Jake would be some kind of morally correct politician, aka one that never is ellected :lol:
Cassie would work with her parents at the gardens, Surprise bet ya never saw that one coming!
Marco would be the next host on SNL or some incarnation of that show.
Rachel would be some evil evil Government agent, you know the kind that tortures the person even if they ARE answering the questions.
Tobais would be emo and end up in some emo/goth band until he commited suicide.
Aximili well he would be a successful Prince until he eventually accidently blew up earth to stop the Yeerks because no "Andilite Bandits" were there... oops? >:D

Finally! Someone commented on Ax! Yeesh, I figured that was a give-in.
And I'm honestly not surprised that Tobias has started a bit of a debate...He's a bit harder to peg than the others.
My thoughts:
Jake: A general
Cassie: A (wait for it) vet.
Rachel: A fashion designer (who fights crime by night as Bat--Oh, wait...Never mind...)
Marco: A comedian. I know. Shocking, isn't it? Or may be a clown...
Tobias: Erm...Uh...Dead?
Ax: A great War-Prince, who eventually replaces Alloran...Ah, well.

no, i think tobias is a survivor. its in his blood. he might stoop low, but I see him recovering and ultimately finding something he would die for. ...and then he'd die. ;D

I think Jake would end up being one of those average guys and work in a cubicle or something. I'm pretty sure they said something to that effect in the book itself.
Maybe Tobias could be a teacher or something. ^^

As for marco, yeah, he'd be a comedian, but honestly, I think he'd settle for something more common.

rachel: lawyer (preferably for Ralph Lauren)
tobias: artist
cassie: vet
marco: video game designer
ax: after retiring from the military, he would continue his family's work of making some sort of engine part; elfangor mentioned it in TAC
jake: i think he's the hardest one to figure out; in #31 he mentioned wanting to be like his dad, so maybe he would be a doctor; teacher is another possibility, or maybe he would handle the corporate side of marco's video game business

Marco is going to be an engineering but I think the video game thing is correct.

u ppl dont give tobias enough credit. middle school is the hardest, once u get into HS things are a lil easier for u (at least it was for me) so he'd eventually find friends. i picture him as an ornithologist, or astronomer, or paleontologist.
rachel would be a good FBI agent or other type of special forces, or a PI or detective, like a homicide investigator
Jake as a military leader of some sort, or a Dr.
Marco would be a good accountant of some sort cuz he always talked bout how he was good w/ math when money was involved, or an actor
Ax would eventually become a prince of some sort, or a computer science person, whatever that would be on the homeworld

Ah yea, an actor would suit Marco just fine.
You have to take into account that he wouldn't be as ruthless and whatever without the war, same with all the rest, maybe Jake wouldn't be a good leader without it being thrust upon him.

Does anyone find it weird that Jake has been giving a job close to what Chapman had?

well, maybe, kinda. but i think he can fill many roles. maybe not comedian or actor, but yeah.

Yeah, I think Jake would do well in just about any role that requires a firm hand and snap decisions to be made. That leaves a lot of possibilities...

ya but if jake were to be in the army for some reason, it wouldnt be lowly foot soldier, cuz he IS a good leader. and i just cant picture him with a desk job like a principle or whatever

Jake would be terrible in the army. Unless they accepted him as a officer they would break him and then rebuild him. That's how it works. And don't say Jake wouldn't break, because they won't stop until you break and you can't go forward until you break.

dude it took jake 54 books of seeing way worse for him to break, so i really dont think the army could succeed in breaking him in the 2 yrs or so it takes to go thru officer training

Has anyone said that Marco could be a computer programmer or something? After a while, everything seems to blur together.
And maybe Jake would join the Army in like ROTC or go to like Annapolis or somewhere similar. Which means that he'd be able to graduate as an officer, according to my dad.
But, yeah, I really can't see Jake doing an office job.
Maybe Marco and Tobias could start a band. XD Tobias could provide the depressing lyrics, and Marco could do drums.

Thats why Jake can't succeed in the army. To succeed they have to break you first. That would be impossible for Jake.

I think that a few of them wouldn't really have spectacular lives without the war to shock them into action.
Rachel would probably just become a cut throat lawyer and that would be enough thrill for her
Cassie would work as a vet, duh
Marco would start his own business somehow, and become a millionare
Tobias would prob run away from his uncles eventually, maybe he'd join the army, it would give him that sense of belonging and he'd be the kind of kid they'd be looking for
Jake would probably be some kind of middle management desk worker, he never really had any big aspirations so he wouldnt really be jockeying for any promotions, they would just come with years of steady work and he'd get the nice family he wanted
Ax would prob make it to some kind of high rank, but really only because of Elfangor, hes way too afraid to take risks and question authority to really get very far on his own, he only became a great prince after the war because of everythng the war taught him, without those experiences...

tobias: artist or writer. most likely a tortured artist
cassie: easy, vet.
marco: most likely a PR person.
ax: military (following in his brother's footsteps)
jake: hardest.. but entrapuner would be a good pick.
as for army breaking people. they don't break people as much as they try to get them to hold up under pressure. you can't have someone who is having a nervous breakdown on the middle of the field.

what shock said. the army really isnt bout brainwashing ppl and breaking them or whatever. its just getting them strong enough to not faint at the sight of blood and what not. so ya i really dont think getting into the officers program would involve the breaking of jake really.

I'm not thinking where they would be best and happiest and most useful, I'm just thinking where they would end up putting themselves. Before the war, jake was kinda lazy, average student, average athlete. It was only the call to greatness that caused him to step up and be the man he was. Without it, he really didnt have much ambition, he never really talked about another job he would have wanted like everyone else did. I see an average life lol unless he hits some other call to greatness somewhere else...

Not that there's anything wrong with pastors, it just...suddenly popped in my head when I read Duff's statement, "some other call to greatness somewhere else."
Plus, didn't Ax say that Jake's family prayed before dinner in book 8 when he went over to Cassie's house, or at least performed some ritual that I took to mean saying a prayer of some sort?
Now I can see him as a pastor, seriously.
Though, I have to ask, what would Tom be? Would he become a great basket-ball player? Or something else?

I think Tobias, if not an artist, might also make a good guidance counselor maybe or some kind of counselor to help troubled kids out.

i dk, jake always said he got decent grades b4 the war. i think since he looked up to tom, with tom not being a controller since we are assuming the invasion never happened tom woulda been a pro b-ball player, and so to stay on the HS team, get scholarships to good schools for b-ball and stuff he would have to keep his grades up, and this would motivate jake to try his best

reminds me of that winston churchill quote that talked about how everyone has a chance at greatness, but we need to be prepared, or else it would be really sad when that chance came and we were unprepared.
Jake became great because of the war, but there may be another chance where he could be great. Other than that, if he didn't have the ambition and discipline he could just end up fairly average. Like hitler as a cabdriver. ^^

well tom was described as being the star of the HS bball team, and every1 that wasnt a controller (that we know of anyways) was shocked when he quit the team so, ya it seems like he coulda gone pro, or at least played serious college hoops for a good team

Well, with the Yeerk invasion of earth finished wouldn't Elfangor return to earth and attempt to reunite with Tobias and Loren? Then wouldn't he try to bring them to the homeworld or live on earth as a human again?
