Title: The Twin
Post by: RYTX on November 12, 2008, 08:37:57 PM
1) Who do you think burned down Joe Bob's house

2) And much more importantly: The yeerks never seem to have a hierarchy based on birth, maybe the council did, but the general population seemed to advance via individual effort. And Esplin and bro seem to have no connections to power based on birth from the get go
So why is it that Esplin 9466 secondary says that only the prime on got all the good jobs and host and etc?
There were no other implications that one twin would be favored over another was there?

There was one brief mention in the HBC, where Esplin mentioned he had a twin, and was actually chatting with him, although his twin was the "lesser". But other than that, there was zip, nada, squat about it.

maybe when they're born, a superior automatically says one is prime and another is lesser regardless of anything else.

maybe lesser isnt like an official **** list, but it is an official title, so anyone in command looking for people to promote through the ranks is gonna see lesser in his name and be like haha no way I don't want some lesser, wheres the good one. And he just never advances because nobody makes the choice to advance him.

because the yeerks are ruthless cold blooded peoples , they have to have someone to make feel small or worthless its just their way

even if it's one of their own.

I'm not sure who burned down JB's house.

It wasn't Jake, that much I'm sure of.

Unless of course Rachel suggested it, Marco jumped in because he doesn't want to look like a wimp, Jake decides to because Tom might find out about the websit and get killed, Cassie does it because Fenestre is a sick, sick *******, and Ax does it because 'he must follow his Prince' but he really just wants to. Oh, and Tobias would follow Rachel to the ends of the Earth Universe every Universe in every galaxy in every dimension. Except for when she dies. Yeah, that's the only time he doesn't follow her. And he wants to get back at the dude who froze her for a while.

i think he did it him self
why would he burn the house himself, if the house gave him protection from the animorphs?

to spite an Andalite perhaps? He was hoping for an Honourable death and dieing from an Andalite seemed  like a happy ending for him (or so he said) maybe he was trying to die from an actual Yeerk enemy not as a traitor.

well, maybe because they needed to avoid confusion.

Maybe, and this is more likely, its like a myth thing that one twin has to be designated the lesser because genetically a twin is a curse, or something like that.

it aint a curse, Fenestre said that in several situations the twins were powerful allies, but Visser 3 wanted complete tyranny over Earth and his twin messed that up by being competant.

wait, he messed that up by being competent? ^^

Yea, remember Fenestre became a valuable asset to the invasion of Earth all on his own by building a vast computer network that could easily be used to spy on people. By that time, He accomplished more than the abysmal amount Visser 3 did, and Visser 3 does not credit subordinates. Thus, by being competent and clever, Fenestre forced Visser 3 to exile him as a traitor.

ya i don't know who burned down the house, i forgot all bout that actually.

in regards to the twin thing, nothing ever mentioned really, and it never made sense to me cuz of how the yeerks are born. didn't ax say the yeerks are born by fission? (or was it visser 1 in Visser?) and so if the 3 yeerks come together and split up to make a buncha yeerk babies, don't u have yeerks being born simultaneously? in which case, how can u have 1 be better than the other cuz he is older?

Thats the whole point, there's no real difference, to simplify everything the yeerks deem 1 prime and the other on lesser, since they born at the same time. there is no actual difference i think, just what is expected.

culture kinda thing? i wonder what yeerk culture is like.

Extremely hierarchical and military based...at least from what I gathered in the books. Just a general observation of course, which i'm sure is a pretty obvious one lol.

i wonder what kinda customs they have, or traditions. Or do they have music? what is their philosophy on the environment?

I often wonder that too. Though I always generally assumed that stuff like arts and philosophy were seen as being foolish or pointless, and didn't help get planets conquered in their eyes. I'm speaking generally, not specifically including the peacenik Yeerks here. Or since they're very militarily based, maybe alot of their philosophy and traditions themselves have to do with or are influenced by that aspect. Hmmm...but the big question is or should be, what was their culture like before becoming an imperial power? Was some aspect of it present culturally even before their encounter with Seerow? Interesting.

well, considering that they were just slugs before, and even Gedd's at best, i don't know how much of a culture they would have. i mean, as much as snails here could have. not to switch the topic but how did they get so smart if they couldn't even communicate with each other? could they communicate?
Title: Re: The Twin
Post by: yrkd88 on November 29, 2008, 05:47:25 PM
Hmm...yeah, but i think even before the Andalites came, they still had some hierarchy or social structure...being sentient beings and all despite their slug forms. Actually I think they have some kind of echolocation so they can communicate with each other when they're in the pools. Whether it works outside a liquid environment I'm not quite sure.

hmmm...interesante. how did they become so smart? it wasn't as if they could interact with their environment much.

Good question...evolutio nary wise that makes sense I suppose. Though I suppose one might also have to just ask KA herself lol.

i wonder what yeerks taste like. cuz i wonder if they had enemies.

Title: Re: The Twin

hahaha...what i wonder is what else is in those pools they inhabit.

I honestly don't think there'd be too much in the way of natural predators...at least it doesn't seem that way from the books (talking about the pools on the homeworld of course). But yeah, i'm sure there are plenty of microbes and other microscopic creatures that also dwell in the pools besides the Yeerks themselves of course.

Whether it works outside a liquid environment I'm not quite sure.
I think it does. I think in #29, Cassie used that echolocation to find Mr. Tidwell's ear, and she wasn't in a liquid when she morphed.

so the yeerks feed off of sunlight...does that make them plants? like with what plants do?
