I just noticed Gonrod's name is an anagram of Gordon- I don't know if it's intentional or not but it's made me curious; are any of the other Andalite (or other alien's names) like this?
I guess Estrid's could be a version of Astrid or something too so it doesn't necessarily have to be an anagram

And why isn't Ax's last name the same as that of Elfangor?

I have a headcanon that Andalite last names operate on a complicated system involving the oldest child getting the father's last name and the second the mother's and then it alternates that way but they barely ever have more than two children. I picked this up from a fanfiction, not sure which one.

I can almost see Ax being similar to the name Alex. (Bit of a stretch)

Since that's one of my nicknames and Ax is one of my favourite characters, I support this theory XD
It's actually not a bad idea; I remember another kid named Alex in my class who people called "Axe" for short :P
