Title: Favorite Character
Post by: Dylan on June 09, 2015, 09:03:09 PM
I pretty sure this pole was put some where else on this forum. But it's an old thread, so I made a new one. Let me know if there are any characters I need add.

You missed the Helmacrons. Everybody loves the Helmacrons, am I right?

I really liked Marco and Ax.

The Helmacrons don't count as a character. I'm putting singular characters here.

I see "The Auxiliary Animorphs" listed as an option.  Therefore, it should be kosher to vote for "The Hemacrons", or "The Howlers".

I move that a "Write in" option be added.

Actually, considering that Helmacrons are a 'fungible' species, with each individual consciousness being resorbed into the species as a whole when they die, they could be considered a sort of 'hive-mind' and thus, a single 'character.'  I'm not really voting that they necessarily be added to the poll, but, just, yanno.  Food for thought.  Seemed relevant to the current conversation.

Not sure why Tom and Erek aren't on the poll though.  They're both pretty major characters.

Also, just to clarify: "Joe Bob Fenestre" actually refers to Esplin 9466 the lesser, right?  Because the human Joe Bob Fenestre was never in the series as a free human being.  If a human by that name actually ever existed at all.

Gah, sorry to keep attacking your polls with silly little nitpicks.  I guess I'm feeling like being difficult today.  :P

Not like anyone's gonna vote for Tom. :P

*suddenly wants to change a vote just to prove you wrong*  :P

Tom is a pretty cool character, though.  Both the human and the Yeerk.  The human Tom only had one scene in the whole series where he's actually a free-willed human being, and he uses it to run straight at Visser Three (in eight-head monster morph) armed only with his fists.  And the Yeerk gets one of the most chillingly awesome quotes of the whole series: "You must know by now, little brother, wars are not won with clean hands."  LITTLE DID HE KNOW.

In the poll Visser 3 is Esplin/Alloran and Visser 1 is Edriss/Eva.

Whoa.  You can maaaybe make the case for Esplin/Alloran, since a lot of Alloran's traits rubbed off on the Visser (that's what I think, anyway, and it explains why Esplin went so suddenly from clever-if-ambitious to full-blown-cliche-supervillain the moment he took Alloran as a host), but Edriss and Eva?  No, those are not the same character.

. . . For the record, I voted for Visser One.  I was voting for the Yeerk, not Eva (although Eva is undoubtedly awesome, she doesn't quite make my top three).

Jake.  Always loved the grown up approach to his arc, by the end of it he's just this guy doing what needs to be done, even when it gets nasty.  The world needs more of that responsibility focus now, no excuses, no whining, just do the job and carry the burden.
