What form did they take? I find it very hard to believe they'd choose humans. For one thing, since the governments are helping to oversee their permanent morph, they'd no doubt register them as potential troublemakers, and former human hosts would have no problems telling the world about them. They'd face discrimination and hatred from nearly every nation they went to, and I can't see the United States harboring them, or any other Western nation. I don't think even the Eastern nations would do that.
Your thoughts?

The whole Yeerk morphing thing seems a bit wrong in general. I doubt they would be allowed to morph anything but animals.
-
Yeah, true. I mean, this is a post-war world and in a post-war world you're bound to find lots of racism. Look at German-Americans over after WWI and WWII, and Japanese-Americans for WWII. That's just a natural human response. It may or not be right depending on the circumstances, but it is the kind of thing we'd do.
-
It's unlikely that any Yeerks other than those invved in the Peace Movement (MAYBE) were allowed to have human bodies. They were most certainly forced to choose or be given animal bodies---maybe some were farm animals and made into burgers xD
-
Made into Burgers? I don't think humans would be that drastic.
-
^You underestimate the human race, sir.
Sources: all of human history :P

And we call it Soylent Green,

Of course, there will be a small percentage of people fighting for "Yeerk rights." But I think their voices will be drowned out once people realize how delicious the McYeerk tastes.
-
So do you get then Yeerk burger if you go to [insert fastfood-store name here] and order Happy meal with extra happy?
e: typoed first "mean" instead of "meal"

poetic justice.

poetic justice.
Only if the general public never suspects a thing. You see how squeamish Americans are about eating dogs and cats.
-
Aftran's whale and the Taxxon snakes are what we have to go on, so I suspect something like that.
-
Maybe they were made to morph Humans and contained in some kind of manipulated jail. Not exactly jail sentances, but they live in small communities, from which they are not allowed to escape.
It was never explained quite well, but let's face it, what kind of options did we have? Let them go so that they can just attack another planet? Let them control the body of another race, or animals? Kill them all?
Complications all around!

Of course, those people could engage in acts of domestic terrorism like the Animal "Liberation" Front (added quotation marks) or the Animal Rights Militia. They burn down animal testing facilities and the like. Who's to say that there wouldn't be a similar miliant group for Yeerk rights?
I mean, granted Terran animals haven't tried to take over the world by enslaving humans (one could argue the reverse is true), but that doesn't mean that there wouldn't be a "People for thr Ethical Treatment of Yeerks" or something (presumably founded by someone who had never been infested and think they know everything, but just a stab in the dark).
Yes, the morphed Yeerks would face much discrimination, I think. And, if they were permitted to morph humans, they would probably live in an area.where no one else knew that they were morphed Yeerks, and keep that fact to themselves, closet the fact.
-
I don't think they'll be allowed to take a human morph. Keep in mind they're using the DNA of a person who actually exists. If cloning is illegal, than morphing a human permanently is worse. At least cloning starts you from a baby.
I don't know how good this zero space thing works. According to Ax, the conservation of mass is observed during morphing, so as a engineer I'm kind of worried that a Yeerk that prob only weighs 1lb would require too much additional mass from Z space to live another life as a whale. And if you have a whole species trying to live another life as dogs and cats and eagles and Hork Bajirs... well...
I think they would have been forced to choose between dying and morphing a small creature. Oh great that reminds me of helmacrons...
-
Would the Andalites have a different opinion on the matter? I assume that we would give them the bodies of small animals, but would the Andalites be more or less merciful?
-
I've always pictured them favouring aquatic creatures, like Aftran choosing to morph a whale. I could see a lot of them going for dolphin or whale morphs.

I proposed that the Yeerks be encouraged to permanently morph endangered species, as a way of boosting the populations of those species.
