One of my friends woud like to know:
- Could radiations from things like Uranium destroy or damage the DNA kept in Animorphs' blood?
- Could a Yeerk infest and control a Howler?
You must think that questions are strange and stupid lol But in fact, my friend and I would like to know for the role playing game I'm trying to make about Animorphs. Maybe I'll have other strange questions later ;) lol
Good luck for answering!

- Could a Yeerk infest and control a Howler?
Not sure about the first question, but I'm assuming that Yeerks would be able to infest Howlers.. with great difficulty :P
and they'd probably be able to control em, since aren't they sort of already controlled by Crayak?
My memory completely sucks, so I probably got that part wrong, lol.
-
Physically, they could probably infest a Howler. Doubt Crayak would allow it though, he'd probably just make them all conveniently disappear, like he did with Jake's lovey-dovey kissy-wissy Howlers.

Well, since high levels of radiation can damage normal DNA I would assume that it could do the same to morph DNA. That actually brings up a few interesting scenarios...

What, like Animorphs Hulk? "Don't make me morph. You would like Cassie when I morph. I'd be an abomination!"

Lol... nice. *cracked up*

hmm...I don't know. in #18, ax said something about sealing the morph DNA so it won't be able to transmit diseases, maybe it also protects the DNA from radiation as well.

I'm a bit confused by the question.
You mean if Jake got bitten by a radioactive spider?
or if they stumbled into a Uranium mine?
lol I don't know what I'm talking about anymore..

I don't know what you're talking about either. I think she means like someone unleashed a uranium bomb or something.

ah yea, I get ya. that makes sense now.

If somebody blew them up with a uranium bomb, I think that would kill them so it's kind of a moot point... :P
I would assume that high radiation levels would effect the DNA in their blood, but we'll never know for sure. It would make for some awesome fic ideas though. Maybe they'd still be able to morph, but they'd lose control of what they morphed and when? Kinda like Rachel in #12. Or maybe they would turn into some kind of mutant creature made up of all the animal DNA they've acquired?
As for the Howler Controller idea (another fun fic idea), it's possible that the Yeerks would be able to infest them, although as previously stated Crayak would probably not allow that. Also, we have know very little about how Howler physiology works, so maybe their ears cannot be penetrated by Yeerks? Easily possible, as their ears were clearly designed to be immune to their own howling, meaning that their ears could have been constructed completely differently to any other species in the series.

I once came up with the idea that the Council of Thirteen served Crayak. That's why they turned on the Andalites. Crayak spoke of galactic domination, and they were very tempted.
Also, the one member of the Council that you couldn't tell what he was in Visser, is actually a Howler Controller.
Crayak might be fine with some Howler Controllers if the Yeerks served him.
The radiation thing, I'm not sure of. The thing that keeps the DNAs separate might also protect them from things like radiation and such.
-
Crayak backing the Yeerks? Sounds interesting, you should write a fic about it.
Yeah it's possible that the animal DNA would be unaffected, but high levels of radiation tend to be lethal or at least incredibly dangerous, and we have no idea if morphing would heal the effects of radiation sickness.

I thought of an idea for it a while back, which included all the Animorphs (including Rachel) going to the HB Homeworld with Toby and her troop after they won the war for Earth. Part of the prologue included rewriting some of the ending so Rachel survives.
The guy that runs the HB Homeworld was going to be Visser Two, but then Book 48 came out and I changed it to Visser Five. I made Visser Five out to be secretly the rightful ruler of the Yeerk Empire. He was the Emporer back when Seerow came, and he was betrayed.
He's been trying to end the war, much like all Vissers, but he doesn't want to enslave everyone and take over the galaxy. He's better than Visser Three, but he does practice involuntary infestation.
There's some other stuff, but this is all quite off topic. I probably won't start any more fics unless I finish CoaAS, which may or may not happen.

lol
Thanks for the answers ^_^ Even if in fact it isn't really clear and nobody agree with nobody ;) lol
Anyway, I'll think more about that... Maybe I'll do what is better for the role playing game.
I'll introduce a "game" to help me with the role playing game... Please play ;)

Maybe the DNA is less stable and breaks down when exposed to high levels of radiation? I know nothing about biology, so I'm just making stuff up. No X-rays for the Animorphs, but they wouldn't need them anyway.
-
Need? of course not...
But you know rolists... they do EVERYTHING they can do! lol It's why my Xav' asked me strange questions I can't answer to =_=' He already thinks about the stupid and useless things the players must do... and it's good, in a way...

That is an interesting concept. I attempted to look some of this up and what it looks like is that if someone is afflicted with radiation poisoning, one of four things happen: Rupture of the strand, alteration to bases, destruction of sugars, crosslinks and formation of dimers. Basically what this sounds like is the breakdown of whatever DNA exists in your blood. Somehow I would think this would just kill an Animorph like every other person. I believe it would not be different under the assumption that nothing crazy would happen to a person who accepted a blood transfusion if they suffered from radiation poisoning. I suppose this would really depend on how stored DNA in an Animorph interacts with their human DNA though.....entirely speculation.
As far as howlers go. I don't think howler's sleep or drop guard, so I don't know how a Yeerk would make it's way inside one, presuming they have ears. Obviously a Yeerk would do this to exploit their howling ability, but I don't think that being inside it's head would make it any less susceptible to the howl.
My first post, not big on introductions, but my name is Chris, and I just discovered this place and I like it a lot. So hopefully I'll be around more often.

Welcome Chris! You can go in the presentation topic ^_^ And thanks for your participation...
I still don't know what I'll do with those Howlers lol but I think about the radiations, I'll just make the characters die >_<

Plot Bunny: After being exposed to radiation, Marco morphs into a two-headed cobra.

What happens when V3 morphed into that eight headed space dragon in 1 and 46? Does his mind go to all of the heads or does he just control one head? :p

I'm assuming that he controlled all the heads. What good is a many headed monster is you can only control one head?
