Rachael becomes allergic to crocodile DNA and morphs uncontrollably from one animal to another without passing through her human form.  Why can't the Andalites morph directly from one animal to another on purpose?

Maybe it is something that requires so much concentration that it is deemed to be impossible even though it would be possible if you were able to conzentrate enough.
