Title: Computer Issues, HELP PLEEEEASE!

Okey, Cody/Broken's computer is virused and FAIL.
Somebody please help him.

Symptoms: can't access most websites, especially google-based, lost bank account information.

Yeah, he asked me to post this, 'cause RAF isn't working for him. *shrug*

Really wish I could help -- but I'm not very computer savvy. . . . But believe me when I say, I feel his RAFpain . . .

Ouch. vundo is a pain.

Spybot Search and Destroy might get it, otherwise go with VundoFix.

I have to admit, I'm kinda dumbfounded after reading the Wikipedia article.  And more than a little scared to even boot my Windows partition.

The bottom line is that it appears that the only way to really be rid of this thing is to wipe the hard-drive, reinstall everything (blech), make a restore-image (since re-imaging is a heck of a lot faster than reinstalling again when you have to do this again, and on Windows you will), and restore data from backups.  Even then, most people don't keep backups (even myself, I'm ashamed to admit) AND you have to look out viruses piggybacking on backed-up data.

Yikes.

You know, I'm now off to look into backup solutions.  Hopefully, I'll have good stuff to report soon.

i've had to get rid of vundo like 4 times, i'll see if i can fix this.
hard to work with the computer, since i can't see what's on his screen (and he's apparently having multiple other problems).
