OMG I JUST FOUND THIS AND I'M FREAKING OUT!!!
Is this real? I have no clue, but I hope so!
-
1) Where'd you find this
2)Wishing it's real, but doubting
3) If it is, I'm already pissed; let everyone be in the standard morph in a the morph assemble image for once (Rachel-grizzly) ::)
-
Looking into it. Feels hoaxy, but, hey, I like to have hope.
-
A buddy of mine from elementary school who knew I liked animorphs sent it to me, I'm currently waiting on a response as to where he got it from. And he isn't a Photoshoppy (is that a word?) person, trust me. So if its fake, it wasn't him lol.
-
I, personally, have my doubts. The feline doesn't look like a tiger to me, but looks more like a lioness or cougar.
-

Oh ya, I just noticed that too! Is Jake going to morph a lioness? lol i hope not.
-

It seems like a hoax to me, if there would be any copyright it would probably say scholastic, not applegate.
-
*crying* HOAX I'm sure of it *still crying*
-
There is no record of any Animorphs movie on IMDB, and if it got to the point in production to where they had a specific release date it would have been on there already. :'(
-
Sorry, but that poster wouldn't get the pass from most studios. It just screams "I made this for DeviantArt".
Also, we cannot have an Animorphs film till my film career gets off the ground and I can direct it. :P
-
Yeah, I don't think if it were an Animorphs poster, It wouldn't be in all shadows.
Sorry Adam, I fear it's fake.
-
I was looking at the books, and that Andalite doesn't appear on any of them, so the person had to make their own. Also, about the KA thing, inside the books i have, it says in the copyright page: "Copyright (copyright symbol) 1997 by Katherine Applegate" (pretty much what it says on the poster), so the person who made this up probably just looked at the book. lolz, must be a fake.
Also, I found this:
(http://psdtuts.s3.amazonaws.com/316_Fugitive_Poster/final_large.jpg) (http://psdtuts.s3.amazonaws.com/316_Fugitive_Poster/final_large.jpg)
-
Aw darn, it's not a bad image too. *steals for background*
-
It is a great poster though.
-
I'm positive that is a fake. Anyone with photoshop can do that, in fact I did the same thing a couple months ago:
http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3441.15.html
-
At least the tiger in yours, Sub Visser, looked like a tiger.
Oh, and I can't see the other picture, Ellimist.
-
1) Where'd you find this
2)Wishing it's real, but doubting
3) If it is, I'm already pissed; let everyone be in the standard morph in a the morph assemble image for once (Rachel-grizzly) ::)
Elephant was her original battle morph, and she did use it a few times after getting the Grizzly, so I don't mind that. Now the big cat possibly not being a tiger, I'm not so sure. I'm not sure if you can tell between a lioness and a tiger by sillouettes only, but Tigers would be bulky.
-
positive it's a fake.
no doubt about it.
-
Aw, poor Adam was swindled! :-\
-
..still, there's always the hirec rumor floating around.
-
-
you know, 2.0
-
Haha guys! some of you totally thought it was real!! I made it! I was bored in my graphics class, but now I have some suggestions, I'll perfect my work for my portfolio. Thanks guys!
-
Oh, come on! YOU made it?! Well, there go my hopes and dreams. -grumbles under breath-
-
Oooh, be prepared for backlash, Ellimist.
-
wow. you made it? that's pretty cool. how'd you do the andalite?
-
Haha guys! some of you totally thought it was real!! I made it!
figures.
-
Wow, that was messed.
-
Haha guys! some of you totally thought it was real!! I made it!
figures.
what's that supposed to mean? :(
-
It figures it was fake.
-
Don't know how anyone could think this was real. They'd have to work on the script, hire a director, begin the casting process, and find the direction of art & cinematography (the 'look' of the film) before they even considered releasing an official poster.
Oh, and a official press release would probably also be released sometime after the movie was even green-lit, so we'd know about the movie well ahead in time before the poster even came out.
-
Not to mention that it's pretty easy to find out what films actually are going to be distributed through Paramount over the next couple of years.
-
The only reason I didn't instantly think it was fake is because it wasn't a newbie who posted it. I'm not at all shocked that it's fake though.
-
dang that was good Ellimist.
however, for a movie poster, kinda vague..
-
lol nice poster. didnt fool me though. like someone else said it had a deviantarty feel to it, not like a profesional movie poster. i still have hope for an animorphs revival though. i mean if they're doing a wild things movie than animorphs cant be too far away
-
I really don't get how you people separate professional work from average work here... if that poster was average work, what's professional work look like?
-
like this

OK now I'm starting to get offended. First off, that poster was A TON of work! I started off with this Image:
for the background and I had to do A TON of adjustments to get it to look like it does in the poster.
I followed a tutorial found here: http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/designing-tutorials/create-an-intense-movie-poster-in-photoshop/ (and as you can see, creating the forest is a 42 step process on its own. Lets see YOU make that in photoshop. I almost gave up halfway).
Please, I did all this work, and people say its an amateur-looking job? Gee thanks guys. And just to be clear: I'm not trying to say I'm a professional or anything, I just like to take pride in my work.
Now, someone asked how I made the Andalite.
1: I took a picture of a horse, and erased the head and tail.
2: I took a picture of a guy without a shirt on, and got rid of all but his torso and arms and head (this guy to be exact: )
3: then I took the stalk eyes and ears from one of the Animorphs books, and the tail from the Andalite Chronicles cover.
Oh and, for a Professional comparison, (I know blue just posted some) look at this poster:
I could easily make this in Photoshop (I can do so if you want proof). All the skills I learned while making my poster could help me make this one.
I really don't get how you people separate professional work from average work here... if that poster was average work, what's professional work look like?
And thank you morfowt! (i'm assuming that was intended as a compliment lol)
-
it wasn't the art that tipped me off. (you didn't do a bad job. i'm not saying that.)
it was the fact that you gave a specific date (1/21/11).
a movie not scheduled to come out for 2 years wouldn't have a precise date like that.
it'd be 'fall of 2011' or something.
-
like this

or this
(http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2009/08/04/avatar-poster-neytiri.jpg)
and the difference between these 3 and the one ellimist made is?
-
adam's is just obviously photoshoped. the cropped images of all 6 Animorphs don't fit in with the background
-
huh? i don't get what you mean by not fit into the background. the animorphs use the forest a lot. why doesn't it fit?
-
I really don't get how you people separate professional work from average work here...
The secret is:
they can't!
The real difference between professional work and amateur is that someone pays for professional. This has only a minor impact on quality: hopefully people won't pay for complete crap. If something's good it can be either professional or amateur--and it's worth noting that several of my favorite books, most of my favorite albums, and almost all of my favorite translations are amateur work.
adam's is just obviously photoshoped. the cropped images of all 6 Animorphs don't fit in with the background
So? Pros use Photoshop, too. It's kinda an industry standard, if you haven't noticed. That's like complaining about CD because it "obviously was studio-recorded." ::)
For what it's worth, Adam's work is every bit as nice as the Avatar one.
-
like i said. its good. but the difference is not actually in the design. which is pretty good. its just that since its not real there are stuff that tip it off, (like what goom pointed out). things like that. its not in the actual work, which is good.
-
adam's is just obviously photoshoped. the cropped images of all 6 Animorphs don't fit in with the background
Photoshop is how ALL professional movie posters have been made for at least the last 5 years Blue. It's a piece of professional software, and the price point drives this fact home.
And for the record the fact that I thought it was fake was founded in the release date, not the work involved. The poster itself is very good quality and could easily be mistaken for professional.
-
The poster is pretty neat. I have mixed feelings on whether I wish it were real.
-
I thought it was a very nice poster, and I comend you on the work you put into it, Ellemist.
-
The reasons why I saw it as fake quickly were the fact that a far, yet specific date was given, as goom had said, the way the copyright was done, the scale felt a bit... off, and most importantly, I had used the background you chose as a wallpaper for about six months. I only recently changed it, and I assumed a paid person would probably use original photography.

Haha, ya, I got most of the animals from places like National Geographic and stuff. Hey, if I could have went out and took a picture of a bear standing on its hind legs and roaring, I would have! But frankly, i've not been given that opportunity yet (which i think i'm thankful for... lol)

Thank you as well, Chad!
And just to be clear, I did those things (like make the date specific) to make you guys feel it was fake (i'm not THAT evil to let you guys have freak attacks and parties for a phoney! ;D ).

That's not necessarily true, a lot of times they'll use stock photos a lot, especially for backrounds and military vehicles. Though they're generally from a library the studio pays to use.
-
I thought this poster looked pretty real! it could definitely stand up to some of the movie posters made.. it looks really professional
Good job Adam!
-
I think what made it look not real to me was the silhouettes being completely flat with no detail, as opposed to this poster (http://psdtuts.s3.amazonaws.com/316_Fugitive_Poster/final_large.jpg).
Don't get me wrong though, it still looks awesome and very professional. Nice work :D
-
Very well done!
-
(This should be in fanfiction)
-
Thanks! Id edit my post but im mobile :]
-
Updated image (lets see if this is less "deviantart-like"):
-
Yeah, that one looks much better.
-
much. definitely.
-
The tiger still looks like a lioness though. :-\
-
oooOOooo i like it cuz it looks moody!
and i can't help but imagine that dude everytime i look at the andalite. haha
-
The tiger still looks like a lioness though. :-\
I guess its hard to tell when its a silhouette.
-
Um, not really. The lioness has a much thinner face. Tigers' faces are more round, fuller.
-
Then whats the problem? I dont see a lioness I only see a tiger?
-
I see a lioness. Like I said, the lioness has a thinner face, and the cat on the poster has a very thin face. IMO
-

I don't know if this has been said yet. But RTYK Rachel's first battle morph was an elephant. Grizzly didn't become one until book 7, so if it was a movie about the first book it would make sense that the elephant were used.
-

LOL im sorry Adam, I didnt mean to insult your skills. everybody knows you're RAF's best photoshopper. It just didnt give off a "Real movie Poster" vibe to me. that's just my opinion though
-
In reference to the tiger/lioness thing, if you actually save the picture and look at it at it's full resolution, look at the tiger's skin behind it's head. It's very faint, but there are stripes. Lioness's don't usually have stripes.
-
I think both of the movie posters look great. Now if only a movie was really coming out...
As to the tiger vs. lioness thing, I'm guessing the type of tiger used in the poster was a bengal. They generally have a slimmer face and body than Siberians, which is the kind of tiger Jake had as his battle morph. Just a thought though :P
-
I'm just saying it looked like a lioness. I'm not saying it was a ****ty job. It was an amazing job. The effects were insane.
I only stated that the thing that gave it away for me is that the tiger looked like a lioness. If it really is a tiger, than I sit corrected; but I thought it was a lioness, thus I deduced that it was a fake.
Adam, you did an awesome job.
-
Here's the Pic i used for the tiger (though I flipped it horizontally in the poster):
I think its the whiskers that I forgot to re-add that messed up the look, i dunno. And yes, it is a bengal. whoops! Siberians don't like standing sideways apparently. lol
I was wondering: should we play a prank on the AFF (if you think this is a convincing enough image)? I could make a new account on there, and make a topic about me getting this from Michael Grant or that I work for paramount or dreamworks or whatever.
lol jk, that would be mean! (but hey, they sent trollers here a while ago, so maybe this could be revenge? haha)
-
Ah it was the angle of the head that threw me off. Damn geometry, you win again.
RAF and AFF can become like the Alpha-Betas and the Tri-Lambdas in Revenge of the Nerds. They prank us, we prank them.
-
Updated image (lets see if this is less "deviantart-like"):
Okay, not that might have fooled me!
That one is REALLY great work, Adam.
The first one, IMHO, didn't look real because it had a "2D" feel to it. Too... Flat.
Now, apart from that, I feel I must say this:
TOTAL. ASS. MOVE!!!! Dude, so, so, so wrong! SO WRONG! :P
Okay, now that I'm done, +1!! :P
-
AFF never sent trollers here the people who said they were from there trolled both forums. I have an account there but i never go on, its not a bad place, its actually more animorphs based then we are... Not nearly as fun though
-

yeah i'd advise against starting something with AFF.

*High5 gewm*

We win ;D in the end it's how fun the forum is that really matters
-
i don't have anything personally against them.
i just think their forum is dull compared to RAF.
especially since we made the ebooks.
-
:rofl2:
that's how we roll

Only read the first page, but just cause its not real, doesn't mean its a hoax. It's probably just fanart or a poster for a fanfic or something and was never meant to be taken as real.
I wrote a Jurassic Park 4 fan script many many many years ago, and it was mistaken over and over and over again as being the real Jurassic Park 4 script. AICN reviewed it as real, many torrent sites and script sites had it up as real, and one idiot even printed it off and tried selling it on Ebay as real. Whenever I tried tot ell people it wasn't a real script, I was called all sorts of names and such. Thing is, it was never even meant to be taken as real. it was a fanfic I wrote and posted on a couple JP fansites and my own website I had made for it at the time, and a few idiots started passing it around the net as real and then I was the one that had to take the fall for it.
So just cause it's not real, doesn't automatically mean its a hoax or someone trying to start a false rumor. Its more then likely just fanart that was never meant to be looked at as anything more then that.
Now, since I only read the first page, I'm sorry if this ground was already covered.
-
Yeah, Adam revealed that he created the poster with Photoshop.
He then took some of the critism and made a better one:

Please tell me that it isn't the one where the Dinos use guns, because then I would have to be quite cross with you for making everyone hate the idea of a 4th Jurassic park movie.
And for the record this technically was a hoax.
A hoax is a deliberate attempt to deceive an audience into believing, or accepting, that something is real, when the hoaxster knows it is not.
-
I don't trust Wikipedia to define words.
-
from a dictionary:
Hoax Hoax, n. [Prob. contr. fr. hocus, in hocus-pocus.]
A deception for mockery or mischief; a deceptive trick or
story; a practical joke.
surely you trust a dictionary to do what it's supposed to do...
-
I didn't discount the definition, I just commented on the fact that I don't trust Wikipedia to define anything.
-
I like! Lots
-
I didn't discount the definition, I just commented on the fact that I don't trust Wikipedia to define anything.
... you're gonna have to better define that, cuz I don't understand the difference...
-
I wasn't saying that I believe that the definition wasn't true.
I was saying that my personal choice for a dictionary, would not be a dictionary that others had the ability to edit.
It was a comment about my preferences that had nothing to do about the definition of "Hoax".
