It could have made for great comedy if Ax joined Jake, Rachel, Cassie and Marco in class.
I wonder why Tobias enver went back to school after getting his powers back. Fear of school bullies?

They would have to demorph and remorph every two hours. Which means between classes, probably in the bathroom. I don't know how long classes are in California, but if they are two hours long then it wouldn't be possible.
Now I could see Rachel giving Tobais school lessons after he got his morphing powers, but I don't know if she ever did that. I don't see much reason for Ax to attend school.
And one last thing. In order to attend school for the whole season, their names would have to be in the books. They aren't though, which would cause problems. It just wouldn't work. Finally, who is going to sign their report cards? They don't have parents or guardians to sign report cards or anything else the teacher might want signed.

Yeah, it'd be cutting it really close with the timing, at my high school I think my classes were...50-55 minutes, so it'd be really a stretch to my mind. That's one major downfall.
I dunno if it was just in however many fanfics I've read or if I remember this from the books -- but didn't Tobias help Rachel with her homework some nights? So he'd be there, with her, reading the book, he would've learned, it just wouldn't be official?
About the signing of report cards...yeah, I had a few friends who's parents NEVER saw their report cards, haha...

It would've been hillarious, if they could find some way of doing it without drawing suspicion -- for example, Ax playing with his words too much - well, we KNOW several of their teachers were controllers, they would've noticed that, coupled with the hurried rush to the bathroom after class. I think it was just too risky. I don't think Tobias was too afriad of the bullies, I think he was afraid of either the time limit or his uncle finding out he was back - his teachers might start asking too many questions.

I'm pretty sure that simple history or math class or whatever class isn't longer than one hour

I guess it'd be funny if ax went, but really since all we saw of them in school was mostly intermission of....missions where they were planny and grumpy, it's not like there is much to do with it.
Tobias probably never went back cause, well, who wants to go back to a place that sucked for them.

Neither do I, but it rises the question; How was he helping here with homework, two, three years after being trapped, shouldn't her material have gotten a little harder???

He could still read. Some people can learn well enough just from reading a textbook.

Ax had no reason to go to school on a regular basis with the rest of them because he had no cover to maintain. Maybe if he was on his own, he would've done that to infiltrate with the humans in order to learn more about the Yeerks, but the way it turned out, he ended up being focused on the war 100% while the rest of them were stuck staying in school. I preferred that much more myself.
Also, I have a feeling that Tobias didn't want to go back as a human because his human life pretty much sucked before he trapped himself. He had no family, no friends, and he was practically bullied everyday at school. What kind of motivation would a person have to actually want to return to that? Most importantly, if he ever did decide to go back as a human, why would he do it to go back to school? His character had no desire to learn, but only to be free and to eventually belong somewhere, which he did by fighting for the war with the Animorphs.

Well Ax going to a Human school is something of a security risk. He has a habit of calling attention to himself, which is bad since Chapman and probably a decent amount of the students at the school are Controllers.
Tobias couldn't exactly disappear for months and then turn up at school again!

1. Ax has no reason whatsoever to attend school
2. I dont think Tobias was in any hurry to go back to his normal life
3.(And most important) To attend school they need stuff like birth certificates, parents going to the school to sign the child up, proof of age/existence/us citizenship, medical records, ect

Ax didn't go because he always acted strange in Human morph and would call too much attention to himself.
Tobias didn't go back because he didn't need to. Seriously, who really WANTS to go back to school if they don't have to?

If they could have forged the necessary documents (unlikely, but possible, considering Ax's technical skills and the Chee being so skilled at it...for THOUSANDS of years....) and trained Ax well enough, it would have made for some EXTREMELY interesting plot developments.
I'd have enjoyed it, but K.A. would have had to write it VERY carefully to make it believable.

Well, Ax and Tobias were very useful in the team because they didn't have to go to school. They could do surveillance and such when the other Animorphs couldn't. If they went to school, it would really be a disadvantage. However, it could have made for some great comedy...

1) Except assimilate himself with human culture. (I just realized. A funny plot would be having some band geek or something like that crushing on Ax and Ax keeps leading her on because he's so naive of human mating rituals. I SO got to put Ax in school now if my TV show ever flies)
2) I like to think he was. He'd be closer to Rachel and despite his crappy past, he was devastated that he was gone from the human race.
3) Not trying to be mean here, but I think it's silly that everyone keeps bringing this up. Like Ax and Marco couldn't hack into computers and put insert new records without suspicion. I mean, Ax did accidentally advance computer software by 300 years once.
No. Ax's school experience only turned out badly when a controller was freed after a Yeerk died of Kandrona starvation
