So I was sorting out all the loose sheet music I have and found these in between them. The one on the left is the original from deviantart and the one on the right is my unfinished replica, done 3 years ago.
This should probably go in animorphs fanfiction and art but meh.
-
Damn, that's REALLY good, Quaf. Like, if I ever do that EP I've been talking up, I might just ask you to do art for it
-
Oh my stars, that is beautiful. :D
-
Thanks
Found the original post, there's some other cool stuff they made

Before you get scared, the book I used was written by a monk in 1947, called "The Driving Forces of Human Nature" and had been sitting in our garage for 20+ years.
That is friggin amazing.
Also you should probably clean out the garage. You'll find the Magna Carta or something next. :P
-
I wouldn't be surprised if I did :P

I see you're going through my SuperWhoLock + emo punk phase which I shed some 2-3 years ago. :P But goddamn these are some mad drawing skills.
-
The phase has just started so I give it a few years before it goes away :P
-
So this is the first time I've tried doing something from an actual picture reference, not someone else's drawing. I gave up on the hair XD
(http://i.imgur.com/hqqS4z4.jpg)

Jeez, it's still bloody good. I just cannot with pencil drawings and here you're shading real people. Damn, girl.

Remember that book I folded aaaaaages ago? No? Anyway. Here's another. The lightings not that great so if you can't read what word it says, don't worry because it's not a word. From left to right there's a treble clef, a bunch of quavers, and then a bass clef.

Holy what the what.

Sooo this summer (last summer? in January) I made a slingshot which I have about 0 uses for but it was still pretty fun.
What you need:
A forked stick
Saw
Knife
thick rubber bands
String
Leather
How to make it:
1. Use the saw to cut your stick to a good size, like 15-17cm from top to bottom
2. Use the knife to strip the bark from the stick, this is easiest to do after a night of rain. You can then leave the stick to dry out in the sun.
3. Make a ring indentation a little under the top of each fork with the knife.
4. For the leather I just used the tongue of an old school shoe, cut out a rectangular shape and stab two small holes on either side.
5. Tie a bit of string through the holes and then tie the other ends of the string to two pieces of rubber
6. Fold other end of rubber bands on ends of stick, tie small piece of string around them where the grooves are to keep in place.
7. Get a rock and go hit some stuff
Highly do not recommend using indoors
Pictures!

Slingshots are awesome. You should check out Joerg Sprave's channel for some inspiration if you want to make more.
-
Oooh thanks man, he makes some pretty awesome stuff

So it's been a while, but new project! Started yesterday, using an old hard back book (‘An Introduction to Bayesian Inference in Econometrics’, by Arnold Zellner, pub. 1971),
(https://i.imgur.com/aRQkIPx.jpg)
I cut out the cover so it looks like a frame. Used this
(https://i.pinimg.com/564x/c7/c1/50/c7c15022b049b1bb2e9e5bef8a177a4b.jpg)
as tree inspiration, no idea if I’m even doing it right, I’ve kinda just been making it up as I go along. Added a tire swing and will probably add a kid and his dog into the scene later.
So far, I’m 80 pages in, and hopefully by the time I’m finished (~300 pages) it will look really cool and 3D.
Spent >5 hours on it already, but it took a while to get the hang of the exacto knife and working out how thick the branches should be etc. Its pretty time consuming, cos you have to be careful not to rip anything but hey, its not like I have anything better to do.
So much paper!

Will update as it progresses

Still haven't finished the book, but in the meantime:

Welcome to quaf's six-part animorphs poster series!
Been fiddling around with low poly recently, and thought this would be a cool little summer project. All done in Inkscape, and reference images are from the front covers of the books/ google image searches for the animals.
All are 842 x 1191 px
Part 1: Tobias

Parts 2 & 3, Ax and Cassie
Ax looks a lot like elfangor, but man I hate his own book covers...

Part 4, Jake
Couldn't decide which quote was better so I just did both :-\
Also, found another good quote from ax that I thought reflected him more

Hey, I don't know if we've talked much in the past, but nice art work. :D
I've been MIA from RAF for a while because I don't have a personal computer (savage I know)
You might be a good person to ask for help with some tattoo design. I have a bunch of Animorphs ones planned but I'm someone who can only copy art work, not really use my imagination.

update !!
main project for 2020 was a present for a friend's birthday - bound some watercolour paper in between fabric covered cardboard and filled it with 17 of her and my favourite poems, along with little drawings for each. Alas, I did not take photos of those many hours of work, so here's some other stuff.

Always enjoy the progression of artists over the years.

Love the lizard and the watercolors. And glad to see you folks are still active!

Yeerk!
I need to post some pics from my old sketch book. Maybe my daughter's as well.

Salad!! Hi!
And please do, Asmo!

PART 1/2
A few (5) different things in this post.
1. A quick study on sword wielding in ink
(https://i.imgur.com/KgEv6q4.jpg)
2. Had a short-lived urge to get back into doing semi-photorealism in graphite, and then decided it was overdone and I'd rather spend time improving in some other style. Anyway, here's Dula Lipa (pop artist), and Greg Davies & Alex Horne (hosts of british game show taskmaster which I have been watching too much of recently)
3. Workspace reveal
Essential items:
- dining table
- laptop for reference pics and music
- tea
- ruler to get those lines straight
- quality paper that won't warp with water
- 2B pencil for primary sketches
- kneadable eraser to get rid of those primary sketches
- 0.4mm water-proof pen for lining
- 6-deck watercolour set
- 2 water brushes
- paper towel to blot/clean brushes/test colours
(https://i.imgur.com/kxp0T0Q.jpg)
-
PART 2/2 (see previous page for part 1)
4. A week-long project to play around with this watercolour business, based on one of my favourite picture books, The Eleventh Hour by Graeme Base. In short: an elephant has an 11th birthday party with a fancy dress theme and invites 10 guests, makes a feast for it, they play 11 party games, and then when they go to have lunch the banquet has already been eaten. There are clues throughout the book and you have to try work out which of the guests was the culprit. Spoiler: it was the mouse with the help of his mousey friends.
Did a portrait of each of the characters in costume, ink and watercolour.
Elephant as roman centurion, cat as cleopatra, swan as a princess, tiger as a native american, rhino as an astronaut, zebra as a punk, giraffes as angels, pig as an admiral, croc as a judge, mouse as a musketeer

Apologies for the large photos you have to scroll through, spoiler tags don't work (at least on my end) anymore.
5. I think I sent this in the discord but forgot to post here! The animorphs themed card deck I made last year as an imgur album (https://imgur.com/a/u4MzI55)
